Ok simple question. I should be having the 3s swap done in not too long. I will need to emissions test it soon also. I will be having 2 cats installed on it. And I want to get an AFC- NEO so I can lean it out for the emissions test. I want this thing to pass on the first time. I dont want to have to drive it to the emissions place with it out of inspection anyway, so I dont want to have to drive it home when it fails. I really want it to pass. What should I have to do to get the 3s swap in my celica to pass emissions. I dont want to be driving illegally. I am putting in too much money to not be able to drive this beast. Any of you with an AFC let me know how lean you can go and if my plan should help me pass.

you should not need the neo with a good working primary cat (the one thats in the stock DP) and a 2nd cat installed in the stock 2nd cat location.

Really? you think that could get me to pass? Im in texas so emissions is not horrible like california. But its not that bad. What do you think would be my problems on the emissions test? So you think 2 cats would blow clean enough? That would be to tight!!!!!

if your engine is in good working condition, and you have at least that front cat in good working order, you shouldnt have much of a problem passing a sniffer test.
if you have a JDM motor, it could visually be a problem if your tester looks for the EGR valve.

They dont look for anything. Just the sniffer. It isnt running yet though so.... I will keep you guys posted on if it passes and what I had to do for it to pass.

ALSO.... Do you guys recommend getting an AFC to help the air fuel or does the ecu do a good enough job. I have enough money for the NEO I really want it, I just dont want to get it if it will do nothing but look pretty.

unless you A: have a wideband, and B: know how and why an SAFC affects timing as well as fuel on a 3sgte, i would spend the money on other things. the stock ecu does a pretty decent job of keeping things in check.
like for instance, a wideband, if you dont already have one, or water injection.

Please... Ellaborate more on the pros and cons of wideband and water injection.... right now my main concern is passing emissions.. Afterall I cant drive the car if it doesnt pass emissions..... It might sound noob but...

What does a wideband do?
Water injection?
Pros and cons of the AFC NEO?

Thanks so much,
- Matt
