Myspace launched an application platform today, and I'm proud to announce my new app, vGarage.

vGarage allows you to add your rides and ride photos to your Myspace profile, where you can show off your rides and get comments from others. You can also view your friends' rides, and there are lots more features planned in the very new feature. biggrin.gif

You can install the app at http://www.myspace.com/vGarage, and if you do, please let me know what you think and if you encounter any problems or bugs. I'd love to hear some feedback and would love to see this thing spread. biggrin.gif

I am off to sleep now (I've slept for two out of the last 48 hours...the other 46 have been building this app and our app for work), but I'll be back online and posting more info later. smile.gif

In the meantime, please check it out at http://www.myspace.com/vGarage if you're a Myspace user. Thanks! biggrin.gif

very cool idea smile.gif but I get an error message when I try to add my ride. Oh well, once the bugs are worked out, I can see what all you'll be able to do.

edit: just to let you know the message I got was "the add ride server returned invalid code".

You got this as soon as you clicked the button to add your ride, correct? And you got this error before you ever saw the add ride form, right?

What browser were you on? Internet Explorer? And were you on Windows? Try it again now if you'd like, it should be working after I fixed a bug. smile.gif

Ok,
I just tweaked some stuff to accommodate for Myspace sending bad request information to my server. It *should* be working now, but I've had a really hard time reproducing this problem on my accounts and so it's very hard to test. I have seen the error a couple times though.

Also, if you see errors from here on out, there will be a lot more info dumped out on screen. Please, please, please copy and paste those errors here so I can troubleshoot if you see them. smile.gif

I wanna try it now... anyone know of a very good (or have a very good) proxy server for me to tap through? I can't access myspace from work - it's the only thing blocked here cause some guy a few years ago was creepy with it.

PM me if you have a proxy I can use.

Can't use that one... boobies in the ad banner at the top... not that anyone actually looks, but I'd really rather not risk having anything like that in the cache on my work computer, just in case there's ever an issue.

If anyone has a private proxy server they're willing to share w/me, and I super duper promise all I want it for is myspace access, nothing illegal or ANYTHING like that (easy to track and verify anyway!), please PM me.

So you got that message trying to view your garage as well as other peoples' garages? I just checked in some code that hopefully fixes the problem. Wanna try to see if you can get that error to show up again?

What's the exact error message that you're getting? This is when you go to add a ride, fill in details, and then click the "ADD THIS RIDE" button to save the ride?

After I put in the info on my car(after the form I fill out about year, make, model, etc..) and hit "Add This Ride", a separate pop-up error message box pops up and says "The add ride server returned invalid code" and then it does nothing. I haven't tried it with mozilla yet but this is with i-net explorer.

I'm guessing you have a name with non-English characters in it? I've got a solution...will implement in a few minutes and see if it helps. smile.gif

Edit: Give it a shot now. I'm trying some different encoding that should support all the non-standard characters you can possibly come up with. smile.gif

Me too. I uploaded a large pic with no issues at all, faster than photobucket.
I don't ever really go on myspace anymore though, in fact the vgarage is
about all I have on my page.lol

okay i ran into another thing.

it says that you guys have been notified.....

but the app. seems not to save the details i type in.

it keeps going back to "add your ride now"

What's the exact error message that you're getting? This is when you go to add a ride, fill in details, and then click the "ADD THIS RIDE" button to save the ride?

yes it pops out " oops and error......." somethinglike that, but it also says that you guys are working on it and already know.

Edit: sorry for the late reply it was getting late here in hawaii biggrin.gif
yo coomer everythings fine now thanks

Is anyone else having any problems still? The logs are looking good, but I wanted to double-check with everyone.

Also,
Now that it seems to be working for the most part, what sort of features would you guys like to see added to the app?

Some kind of security banner for pics similar to what we have on our profile
pics here would be cool.

That's a good idea. I wonder what most people would think about this.

Thanks. smile.gif And yeah, Myspace apps are brand new...they're not even promoted on Myspace's website yet.

I opted to cater to both import and domestic people, and chose Honda and Civic because that's a very common car. wink.gif

By the way, I restructured the way the vGarage app is displayed on profiles, so it now takes up much less space. smile.gif

aw man, I liked having a big garage door on my profile lol. It's cool though, just the fact that our "garage" is displayed not only on vgarage, but also in the profile is a really nice touch!

Most people probably wouldn't care because the photos in the profiles don't have anything, but if
anyone reposted the car pics, at least you would get some free advertising. smile.gif
