If you were to slap on a burien T-kit, could she blow a 97 GT automatic tranny?

depends on your driving style.

if you are always on it, then the tranny will get hot, very hot. get a tranny cooler and it will help a bit.

but, as long as you take care of the car and dont always have the pedal to the floor, it will be fine

i was worried about that also, but some hi-end cars like rx-7 and some supra's have an automatic with turbo.

i was worried about that also, but some hi-end cars like rx-7 and some supra's have an automatic with turbo.

the 3rd gen rx7's didnt make too much power stock, somethign like 250hp and less torque, they are fast because they are light.

yes, there are mkiv supra TT's with auto trannies.

but you have to understand that everything on 93.5-98 supras was overbuilt. the stock auto tranny from a TT is said to handle about 400-500hp. have it rebuilt for performance and a high stall TC, and youre good for 700hp

the celica GT and ST trannies should be good to ~250hp and still be reliable. www.level10.com has performance auto tranny parts for almost evey car if you want to beef up your auto tranny.

and btw, aside from cooling issues, an auto tranny tends to be stronger than a manual tranny, mainly becaus the gears are physically bigger and the tranny is not actually connected to the engine.

but that is in certain cases.
