I love old school bmx bikes and recently purchased a 1987 Mike Dominguez diamond back.

I emailed this person earlier with no response yet, they probably sold it already! mad.gif

Sick sick deal!

I've still have my Redline RL380 fro 1998. It's not that old school though. I just rode it a few minutes ago too.

I had a '98 Schwinn Pro Stock 3. I loved it... and apparently someone else did too. Enough to break in to my parent's garage and steal it. frown.gif

I had a Schwinn Predator that I got for my tenth birthday in 1983. I LOVED that bike. I still miss it! I tore ass everywhere on that thing!

Not the actual one, but mine looked exactly like this one. Plus black and white checkered pads 'cause that's how I rolled back in '83!

edit: found one that looked even more like mine!

Yeah!

What about BMX Bandits?
Nicole Kidman was in there when she was like 15 or something, classic!

Griff, i tore as* as well on a bike that looked very similar, it was a mongoose expert 1988 i think.

Wait Griff did you say 10 in 83?

It was strange how this topic came up at the time that it did. I've been thinking about buying a new bike to ride around, and also get me to work and back (live 1 mile from work.. pointless to start up the WRX for a 2-3 minute drive). My girlfriend wants me to get a mountain bike, but I am looking at a Haro Back Trail X3. My brother has one and beats the hell out of it regularly. Still in one piece.

Now I've got to teach my girlfriend how to ride a bike....

Yeah, 1983, which makes me approximately the same age as dirt, at least compared to most of you. laugh.gif

I remember when having a Mongoose was the sh1t! I wanted one so badly, because they were light weight and you could do excellent jumps and tricks on them. I was all into that stuff when I was a kid, I used to do that thing where you bounce forward on your front wheel and hop around on it... it was hard on my Schwinn because it was heavy, more of a racing bike than a trick bike, but I could do some cool stuff on it. Still though, those Mongoose (mongeese? ha ha) bikes were awesome, they were right up there with Diamondbacks back in the day. And if you had pegs... boy howdy that sure was the sh1t back in the day!

My old GT Performer is sitting in my parents garage. Looks like this one except no mag wheels & the frame & bars are chrome, and I had 3pc cranks . I think my old AME grips are melted on the bars though, lol.

Hahaah its my only source of transport at the moment, but im 6'3" so i have to ride it standing up.... mythighs hit the handlebars.. lol and i have to pedal on my tippytoes cuz i have a size 14 foot so it hits the ground and the front tire when turning.... hahaha
this problem affects me also when driving manuals... i hit the gas and the brake at the same time in most sports cars...
gotta invest in some driving shoes once i get a car again....

but ya, once i get my car itll be up for sale!

My bicycle is not quite a BMX, but pretty much a model from the last year (1989) that Peugeot bicycles were produced under the same name. According to Wikipedia:

"In the late 1980s Peugeot sold the North American rights to the Peugeot bicycle name to ProCycle in Canada (also known as CCM and better known for its ice hockey equipment) and the European rights to Cycleurope S.A."

And more tidbit on Peugeot bicycles from www.classicrendezvous.com:

"Between 1903 and 1983, Peugeots were ridden to victory ten times in the Tour de France, in addition to winning championships and breaking records."

ANYWAYS, HERE IS THE BICYCLE I STILL OWN, and in good condition. It is the low end of their "course" bikes...I mean my parents bought it for me as a mere teenager (I was born in 1976):

It's not a BMX, but it's old school (kinda).

1990's Schwinn hybrid road bike. It started it's life as a mountain bike... but has been modified for fast road riding. I picked it up a couple days ago. Replaced the brakes and fork this morning. Shimano biopace gears (ellipse-shaped gears... real old school), Michelin tires and some lightweight alloys. smile.gif My commute has never been so fun!
