people are always welcome to seek out our services. this particular thread however is solely for a valve cover group buy. i'm offering a very discounted price on valve covers should we have enough interest.

as for your rims, there were two small imperfections on one rim but that was about it. if you can tell me which one it was, i would be rather impressed. i'm a perfectionist so take that with a grain of salt!

i would need to see the strut bar and whatever an sri is before i can give you an accurate quote

Cool, so 105-115 upfront. Mine is already painted black... I assume that's not an issue since you blast them before you coat them anyway.

Do you have any examples of Mercedes Silver, Silver Sparkle, and Xtreme Chrome. Do either of those three match the High Temp Silver if I decided to get my turbo heat shield coated?

LOLs Congrats man.
I thought you didn't have any gen II VC's? Tell me more about this bent PCV line vs straight - you can somewhat ID the valve cover this way?
Also is it possible to powdercoat the Turbo heatshield to match? Or will PC not stand up to the heat?
I think I'm def in now if I can get Griffy to do a bit of photoshop work to see what I like best [hint hint]

EDIT: You mean like this [Mine from the rebuild - sorry for the cell phone pic]:

As opposed to this [From an MR2T that was laying around my friend's garage]:

yes that is the differences. the straight tube versus the bent tube.

as for the heatshield, we can coat those as well. if you are running a turbo setup, i would reccommend using a high temp coating or a ceramic coating for the heat shield. we offer several of those colors. just check out our site for details

http://www.gsspowdercoating.com

also, griffy just made some changes to our website so please let me know what you think

HOLY **** OMFG if I looked like that I'd do things that shouldn't be discussed on a family-friendly forum such as this one.

You're too kind to me... and just attracted to my mind and brilliant sense of humor LOL (plus, you don't know what I look like anyway, do you? I can't remember.)

Hey, in the interest of keeping your thread here on topic, you should add my name to that list up there for formalities. biggrin.gif

laugh.gif "oh yeah and I guess he knows a few things about that powdercoating stuff too...I guess"
So yeah, Griffy and Jazzcoronet - I'm contemplating doing the VC and Turbo heat shield. I 'm pretty sure red would be waaay too much and loose the look I got going already [which for once in my life I'm actually getting high praise for]:

[Actually this pic is a little old - more things are cleaned prepped and painted black while more vac lines have been replaced with red slicone hosing but you get the idea] But if you could do me a quick PS on that Griffy I'd be grateful.
Anyway, baring that idea I'd just keep the current color scheme: Black block, aluminum head/VC/intake mani/Turbo Heat shield or should I go with a high temp crome-ish color?

Cromeish color? Good lord no... Common bro...

Keep the flatish black & red thru out that bay. And if you could black out all that silver in there, with contrasting redness, it'd deff be the hot sh... Stuff. Hot Stuff. I say you buy it. (After my next paymet to you ofcorse wink.gif )

I'm gonna have to agree with the black. Personally I'd actually go matte black on the valve cover with red accents. I need to see what your VC looks like though. Look! I found this:

That red is pretty sweet, but IMO would be overkill in your bay. Go black with Toyota in red. Maybe even the little ridge across the center red too. Eh, maybe not. (I feel a photoshop request coming on smile.gif )

High temp black for the heat shield, no question.

(crap, I just re-read your post and saw the PS request! LOL!)

OOOh I'm digging that. I also like your idea of the box shaped bossing around the Plug holes in red too.
Keedoke - PS request time. Take that pic of my engine bay above and work the above magic on there and let's see what that looks like - just might be the ticket. Then again the motor might get lost in all that black. remember the head will still be aluminum uncoated so....

Edit - nvm. from that view it just be all black kindasad.gif Maybe this isn't such a good idea?

Oh and D-Man - by cromeish I really meant just a little less flatter than bare aluminum but still keeping the same look as I have but with easier to clean coating. Not really chrome - just chromeish biggrin.gif

Yeah, sorry, that's a no on the PS request, it'd be too much work (we're busy now that one of us is gone) plus it really won't show up in that pic.

If you want "chrome-ish", have you considered Silvertone Vein or Hammertone Black? Go to the site to see the colors and you'll see the swatch samples. (I'm in the process of hooking up links to products with those finishes for that page, but there's a LOT of little squares!)

holy crap, i go to work for a day to get some powdercoating done and i come home to this?!?!?!?!?!?

griify, you rock! thanks for keeping the thread alive and enterntaining these requests. my reccomendation to you would be to send me your VC, heat shield, compressor housing, intake manifold, alternator housing, thermostat housing, and coolant neck to be coated in sating black to match your intercooler piping. the letters on the valve cover could be safety red to match the rest of the bay. wink.gif

seriously, i think super wet black with silver vein mettalic lettering would be really hot for your valve cover. here's a pic of my valve cover on my daily with the same scheme

or better yet, here's a perfect example!!

btw, here is a pic of that exact color scheme

THIS IS NOT MY WORK

These photos were taken by my competitor on mr2oc and are shown only for the sake of displaying color.

the colors used here are mirror black and red. in the event i did this scheme, i would use super wet black and safety red which are much more radiant colors than those and of course the quality would speak for itself

griffy was talking about the center piece coated the same as the lettering. it can be done for an extra fee. this requires beaucoup amounts of work. here's a pic of one in silver vein and super wet black. the quality is crap and i only snapped the picture for the sake of seeing the color scheme. this particular valve cover has since been blasted and redone with more time and effort into it.

Death's gonna want as close to a blood red as possible on that VC lettering if he goes that route (which I agree he should)

That silver vein metallic lettering looks way cool too though. But if I know him a bit, he'll go red.

Monday bump, by the way!

You know me too well.
OK Jazzcoronet [I know I'm a PITA - I know] - what would it cost to get your GT4 VC done with just the Toyota in Red and the rest wet black like you said [nvm the center epice - thanks for the example] and just keep it - no trade out? In other words how much to keep the core?

$65 for the coating job and $50 for the core. so it would be $115 + shipping. i would say $13 for shipping (11lb VC pretty much always sees $13 shipping charges). so $128 out the door!

also, the high temp gloss black appears to match your intercooler piping perfectly if you wanted to get your heat shield coated as well. if you send that to me, i could feasibly do that for $40 extra (and i wont charge for retrun shipping either)

and one final note, here's a teaser of a service that we will offer soon. i haven't perfected it yet, but im working on it.

this particular color changes from gold to magenta depending on the way you look at it and the way the light hits it. it can only be applied over dark base coats......and yes, that is PLASTIC that i'm coating!!!!!!!!!

red/blue
magenta/gold
green/silver
ice
geen/blue

Oh hell - well that throws a wrench into my thoughts. What are the chances you can do that Black->Red? And what would it cost to do my VC that way with a red "Toyota"?

Go amber illusion over super wet black - it'll be black underneath with red/shimmery gold on top. Tres hawt. Or even better - amber illusion over super wet black on the TOYOTA only, w/the rest super wet black. That way you keep your black theme but you get some shiny nifty sweet ass other stuff too. Can't really photoshop that one I don't think though, so don't ask. You'll have to trust me on this one!

as a matter of fact, i just coated a valve cover today with that scheme. illusion aquamarine over super wet black. i didnt like it. then i decided to put another illusion amber topcoat on it. really didnt like that. i think your best bet for some pizazz would be super wet black w/ red prism additive and the lettering to remain in safety red. that's my vote

Catchin up - you guys are the experts and Griffy has an amazing grasp for what I want out of it [she's the head of my art department wink.gif ] - I'll let you guys figure it out for me and then I'll order [and since I will be buying the core it won't matter how quickly to me].
Jazzcoronet - one thing to keep in mind is that the Toyota logo on Celicas is backwards [why I can't figure considering we had the 3S-GTE several years before the MR2 did. My biggest concern is that I'm gonna pay this money and then due to it being black it will just make the motor look smaller and/or disappear into the background of the bay. Do you guys think I should reverse my thinking and go red cover Black letters?
BTW - If you get bored with helping me I'll understand. I am well aware of how picky I am but I'm working on a well round Show/Go/Audio car and I have to keep it all in my mind. But don't worry - if all else fails I'll just get it redone in the aluminum color it already is so you will make a profit off me. Sorry guys.

if you are going loud like that, why not go all out and get a pearlescent white with glow in the dark additive? or just straight up glow in the dark? perhaps, extreme chrome with red prism additive and glow in the dark additive? oooooh, i got it, super wet black lettering with silver additive, and the remainder in extreme chrome glow in the dark with red prism additive!!!!

Uh....... NO. Don't listen to him Death, he's using your indecision for evil and not good. laugh.gif

Don't reverse your thinking. I don't think you'll be happy with red cover/black lettering. Remember, the black is going to be super wet black, and while black definitely is uh, "slimming", it's shiny so it'll reflect light well and won't be as reducing as a matte black would be.

I need to go back a page and see your engine bay again. But I still think you'll be happiest with super wet black with red lettering.

Okay, I looked. Jazz, what kind of subtle illusion coating can we add on top of the black to keep it black but add some "shimmer" to it? Is there a metallic flake red that could be mixed into like a clear topcoat type of deal?

oh yeah, that. I knew that! Sorry I'm juggling a lot today!

For Death - super wet black w/red prism additive for the main part of the cover, safety red lettering. Anything else he sends should be super wet black w/red prism additive as well. No red accents on those though.

i know for a fact this group buy now has at least ten people. there are only 9 listed, but the last one is a guy that wants two different covers done so i will use that as the 10th for the sake of getting this on the road.

please send your valve covers to:

Stephen Harano
113 Lochaven Drive
Newport News, Va 23602

you can pay via paypal, check, or money order to stephen@gsspowdercoating.com or you can send the check or MO to the address listed above. please remember to include the exact cost of shipping you paid to send it to me. if you are getting one of the cores, please also include an additional $50 core charge that will be refunded when i receive your old valve cover.

on a side note, this group buy is still active and more people are welcome to join. the more people we get, the less people will have to pay!!!

welp, we got our 15 so that means everyone is in at $55/ea instead of $65. if we can get another 5 people, i will reduce it to an even $50+ retrun shipping of course.

deadline to get in on this is july 4th so we dont have much more time

edit: if we can get to 30 people, i will reduce it even further to $50shipped!!! that's right, i'll cover the cost of return shipping. that is one hell of a deal!!!

Turnaround time right now depends on how fast you get your valve cover to me. Right now I'm pretty bored so turnaround time will be rather quick. If you wait a week or so to ship, I imagine it will be close to a week turnaround

Paid up after some computer meltdown problems biggrin.gif Thanks for the patience bro and hook me up with that Tracking# when you get a chance.
Griffy - Couldn't thank you more. Now I have a wicked idea for the heatshield. You up for some easy PS?
Edit - NVM the PS. I got 2 heatshields, assloads of paint and a sandblaster to take it back off. I'll take pics of the finished product so Jazz can duplicate.
