you should let me know how that works out for you, maybe get some sort of sound clip? i was thinking of doing a 2.5" cat-back piping with cat and resonator, underalex, and a magnaflow. i myself am also looking for something thats not ricey. i want something thats a little louderthan stock and sounds nice & deep when you step on it smile.gif

buy a muffler that is shaped like the Greddy EVO2. It has a natural resonance to it that can't be matched by any straight-through design. I had it on my first Celica and I loved it.

Check some out on youtube. I haven't heard anything bad on the magnaflows like everyone is saying though. However, some of the expensive ones don't sound bad on our cars..... But some 7th gens sound horrible with Apexi and such... I have an ebay one that has yet to be installed, just for the sound mainly. MY friend has a 1.8L Talon FF and it sounds amazing on his. With or without silencer. I am just going to have this until I can fork up the cash for an HKS. Even though it isn't very loud, it sounds great and I am sure gives you max HP an exhaust will give you (at least that is the impression I get because again, it isn't about sound with this exhaust).

I had a HP racing header hooked up to a high flow Magnaflow cat with 2 1/4" pipe to a Magnaflow highflow exhaust...the good thing about that is it looks almost stock but sounds mean....no HUGE 5" diameter tip or anything tongue.gif

My wife's '94 GT has a Borla "Turbo" series muffler on it and it sounds great. It's nice and quiet at idle, and not really "bassy" when cruising at highway speeds. It's a very comfortable sounding exhaust for long drives, but still sounds pretty mean under hard acceleration.

Just FYI, the whole system is a 4-1 header, small resonator in place of the cat, and 2 1/4" piping to the muffler.

Magnaflow FTW. I have a eBay 4-2-1 header, full 2.25" with Magnaflow cat and muffler. I was having some spitting/farting issues but that was because the guy I had do it for me didn't finish a weld completely and gave me a hollowed out resonator that had two holes in it. Went to another shop and they replaced the cat and finished the weld and I couldn't be happier. Deep throaty sound and smooth. Now to see what the 20v will sound like. laugh.gif

That's not the exact one I have but it's certainly close. I actually asked the guy to order a different one but he failed at that as well. I also bought a universal magnaflow cat that had a 2.25 inlet and outlet to make it easier for them to weld up, and a resonator of the same size to keep the volume down a tad. Where are you planning on getting your exhuast done? Chances are they'll have the cat in stock and they'll order the muffler for you with no money down.

They're usually run by really cool people so don't be shy when you let them know what you want and what you'd like it to look like.
