Hello I have a 94 celica GT it is black in color. My problem is that I bought some sideskirts that I painted "dupont pitch black" enamel paint. I sprayed them with my compressor. They are considserabley darker and shinier than my celica. I don't like it at all. I love duponts pitch black color I have painted two other cars that color black it is as deep and shiny as any black I have ever seen. But the gloss black on my celica isn't that dark. I know my car was repainted by someone before I bought it as it was in an accident. I know it is not a clearcoat paint I believe it to be another type of enamel paint. My question is:

-Is there somewhere on my vehicle I can find the paint code.

-Where can one go and buy paints that match factory colors?

-Also did the celica come wth a clearcoat back in 1994 or was it a plain old enamel paint. Anyone ever had this problem with black????? THankss....

there is a sticker somewhere that'll show the code. (i think it's in the door, but i'm not 100% on that. I'm probably wrong) i've not looked for it yet.

also, remember that your paint is years old. It could have faded from it's original glory.

Thanks for the info. do you know where to get matching paint. Do you have to go through toyota or can you just get it at a carquest, Napa, etc. parts store?

-Do you know who makes astral black?

-Problem is I don't know if it was repainted with factory paint or not as it was done before I bought the car in another state, so I thouogh this would be the first thing to try....

Thanks.....

all the 94+ celicas were basecoat clearcoat from the factory.
the stock black code from the celica is 202.
any good paint supply shop should be able to match the factory color.
