Ok ... I've kinda noticed that there is some parts that are similar on the MR2 and the 6gen Celis ... so could someone clarify the similarity between the two. Are they completely different or is there similarities in the tranny or engine or whatnot? Any tips would be helpful cause I wanna figure out what kind of parts I can use on a 6gen. Considering there's not much out there made specifially for 6gens .. I think must of you guys know what I'm talkin about.

you can swap in the engine

the transmission wont work because it goes to the front wheels and the mr2 goes to the back.

if you got creative you could use mr2 parts and make you celi rwd

You can use the MR2 tranny in the celica but you need to make hybrid shafts. They have a thread on this on celica.net

So without the engine swap you really can't use much can you? Example:cams, cam gears, flywheel, and all that other stuff that's a lot easier to obtain for MR2's

Anyway ... which would be better for tuning ... a GT or ST ... and are all 6th gens besically the same (meaning that parts for say a '94 can fit on a '98) or were they changed between 94 and 99.

Nearly all aftermarket parts for the MR-2 3S-GTE can be used on a All-trac or GT-4 motor with little or no modification. Some of the more obvious things that involve piping or certain fitting in the engine bay cannot. Only those things are similar. The only other thing similar is the 7A-FE and the 4A-GE or 4A-GZE motors. The blocks are somewhat similar, but the heads are different. Parts aren't interchangeable here. If I'm wrong, someone correct me.

as far as performance goes, I think most people will agree with me when I say that the gt is a more satisfying drive.

are you asking if some of the mr2's 3s-gte engine components will work on the celica's 5s-fe?

Yea ... that's what I meant. MR2 3s-gte ~ Celica GT 5S-FE. But for the most part they don't go together unless you get a 3s-gte swap in your Celica right?
