Edit: newly added HQ meet video hosted by streetfire: CLICK

Just got back from the Texas 6gc meet in Austin.
13 Celicas in total showed. 1 mint condition alltrac ( bowdown.gif ), 3s swapped monster and my V6 + a lot of really clean 6th gens.
Fun meet - it was a pleasure to meet all of you. Took LOTS of pics & vids. Here are some pictures to get started. Hope you all enjoy:

Thanks. Yes, i have TONS of footage. I just sat down to look at it, and its a lot. It will take me some time to sort it out and edit it into an epic movie. Maybe i'll post some teasers though. wink.gif

minus the heat (started to get a headache), and the stalling of getting food after a vast majority of us said we were hungry (I get EXTREMELY disgruntled and aggravated when I don't eat), and the assnozzle in the Lexus SC400 (looked like a tool. I swear he did) that cut me off and I nearly rear-ended him, I had an absolute BLAST! Makes me curious to know what that other street you were talking about had in store.

Hopefully I'll have the Supra ready to give it a shot next time this rolls around. wrd Speakin' o' Supras. I think a few of the MK3 guys are doing the same thing come November if a few of you wanna do this again.

Actually, it was right in west Austin (meet was 20mins from downtown). Round Rock is 30min north of where we were on I-35.

I was wondering the same thing...
They had the same color car as me ("baltic blue").
I figured they were more Houston guys? Or was Panda and Havok the only two Houston guys to show up late? Maybe member "kylekonvicka" who said they'd roll w/the other two?

love the pics snapshot biggrin.gif

we had a great time meeting up with everyone & enjoyed the drive minus our cooler taking a nose dive in the backseat ... i'm gonna bungee that sucker down next time tongue.gif

thanks for welcoming us - there just aren't enough all-tracs around here to meet with, let alone ones that are running.

we didn't push the car as hard we could with the heat being so bad ... and i'm glad we didn't b/c on the way home the temp gauge was all the way to HOT so we had to stop in Waco & let the car cool down for 30-45 minutes before we could get going again.
the coolant was boiling out of the overflow tank & there was quite a bit of steam coming out of the radiator itself under the cap.
good thing we brought a jug of premixed toyota coolant along b/c it took the entire jug & the gauge stayed at only halfway the rest of the way home.
i'm not totally sure if the thermostat is taking a dive or if the radiator is just that inefficient when the temps under the hood & outside are that high...i've got some searching/investigating to do.

Matt - i'll look tommorrow on the hot start issue & shoot ya a PM on what i can find.

Mario & zero07 - no problem at all, Joe's glad ya'll enjoyed the ride biggrin.gif

Bahaha tis why you are a mod sir! I LOVE IT!!!

This meet was awesome, its been a long time since i have driven my car that "spirited" (the last time was probably the day i got her and got a ticket kindasad.gif ). But i loved every second of the wide eyed, heart pumpin, hand shakin, prairie dogg havin turns that i would do it all over again!

Really good turn out and great pics guys and gals!!! Collin sent me the link of the meet and I was suprised to see an all-trac (Vadar) that I recognized. Its always nice to see a bunch of clean Celicas together at one time. We have a meet in my area on July 19th in Champaign, IL. It is not just a Celica meet, but there are always a bunch that show up at the Speed-Source meet. The v6 swap looks great Collin, how does it perform in what was called spirited driving that was mentioned above?

Holy crap I'm tired. Anybody else's clutch leg refuse to work when they got to their hometown?
Lisa got tons of pics and vids too - gotta go through and edit them some.
Snap - no mod bashing - we just have a vested interest in keeping at least some fun left in the site. Hopefully you take some of what we said back to mod-ville and take it in the spirit we intended - love for 6gc.net.
You did an incredible job of mapping us a fun route and just overall taking the thankless task of leading the meet [A chore that is usually mine so I'm really happy to report you did well and I had a GREAT time sitting in the "backseat" for a change]. P.S. - you know when Ngofcukingway has such high praise the meet was an absolute success - pat yourself on the back.
Seems like everyone got home OK except maybe Panda and Havok who we somehow lost on the way home - even keeping it to 70mph speedlimit.
Everybody I met was cool as hell [hope you guys liked the stuff I brought you].
SA guys - we gotta get together before the end of the summer both in your town and mine [you guys'll have fun in my garage biggrin.gif ].
Darthripley and Just joe - you're car is amazing [thanks for picking an uphill spot to remind me why GT4 owns GT2 - buttholes tongue.gif ]. I'm sure if I didn't spend 4+hrs last weekend overhauling the coolant system I would have been in worse shape. Thanks in advance if you can help me with the heatsoke issue. I'll hit you up when I get to DFW to hit up Aaron and ATS - maybe you can show me some fun roads around there.

Pics coming ASAP.

Thanks Todd. smile.gif
The V6 was great. It really can pull hard out of the turns and onto the straight-aways with instant torque.

I will say i agree with a lot of what you and others said. Its a balancing act on our end in running the "moderation" with forum rules, personal opinions, different personalities etc. smile.gif

I sent you a PM regarding the hot start issue - hopefully it will help.
please hit us up when you come on up to dallas & you can see the MR2 & Camry also. there aren't too many fun roads around here ... they only last for 5 minutes, not a nice long rollercoaster like the road snapshot took us on, but we can find something. wink.gif

Thanks again for all the kind words everyone & for welcoming us to join in smile.gif

We both can't wait for the next meet with more twisties to attack with a much better suspension ... one that isn't 18yrs old.
zero07 you did a great job sticking right to us - what's your suspension setup?

in case anyone was wondering why i wasn't driving ... i'm still learning how to drive a 5spd & i get nervous driving in a lot of traffic .. think back to when ya'll were learning & that's where i am right now. next time i'm going to be sharing some of the driving along with joe biggrin.gif

looking forward to more pics but especially the vids! biggrin.gif

I sent you a PM regarding the hot start issue - hopefully it will help.

I saw thanks. Not exactly good news that it's probably wiring related. I'll get myself over to alltrac.net and maybe you can get some of the techs over there to walk me through it. I'll do that and the first part of the speedo wiring at the same time. Then I'll install my SAFC-II and knock out the second part of the speedo thing at that time and hopefully I'll be finished with all that nonsense then.
Know any friendly knowledgable alltrac peeps in Houston?
BTW - I called Juan at the junkers this morning and of course he doesn't know WTF I'm talking about with the badges but I'll get myself over there and pick them up for you. He did say that since they were just badges we could work out a deal for beer - my favorite kind of bribe biggrin.gif . Soonest I would have them is Sat tho [assuming I don't get any oil change/tune up business in the meantime]. Don't worry tho - I'm on it.

QUOTE (darthripley @ Jul 14, 2008 - 1:00 AM) *
zero07 you did a great job sticking right to us - what's your suspension setup?

X2 man - enlighten us.
On that subject - the cruise highlighted some major defiencies in the sway bar/bushings and what not in the rear of my car. Anybody wanna get a GB on the side going for bushings, end links and maybe some upgraded sways? PM me if you're interested. Anybody who has upgraded these components LMK what you're experiences were.

Snap - PM me your e-mail and mailing address [I'm thinking I won't have any way to e-mail them to you - might have to put them on DVD in data format] so that we can get these people their vids. You got a teaser for them at least?

I just wanna say again that everyone I met [everyone] was really cool Sat. Nice to see everybody check their egos and just have fun together.

Erik (zero07) said he was on DropTech springs with some balding Bridgestone tires.

The first time around, I made the mistake of going through the course in 5th gear most of the way, so I didn't really have any power coming out of the turns. Bleh. Afterwards though, I was in 3rd and 4th depending on the turns. I think my suspension set-up did fairly well. Probably better if I had stickier tires like Joe's Falken Azenis RT-615.

Yokohama Parada Spec II's in 225-40r17 were what I was wishing for - they're damn near made for that kind of course [Sticky on the outside to hold the course, semi slick on the inside for the launch - would have been perfect for me] biggrin.gif

I will try to get a short teaser up within a day or 2 (maybe 25-30 epics seconds?). As far as a full video, that'll be a little more of a wait. I need to get some of the footage from you anyway. Maybe we should all wait for the final video? Who needs a teaser? tongue.gif

What the hell are you talking about? Didn't seem like one to me, but I only shook your hand so IDK.

On the subject of a North American Celica meet - we all just saw what it took to plan a Texas-wide meet [Granted Texas is the size of several small states but]. I'm pretty sure all we are capabale of is coast-wide meets but I'd def like to tbe proven wrong. Kansas would seem to be the logical place for one. Barring that, I still see a 3rd Coast meet as being doable with it's location in New Orleans [Doesn't hurt that that town is killer to party in either]. Mardi Gras anyone?

Very true. I had a buddy follow me through some pretty hairy high speed turns [at the track] here and he and his '01 GTS found themselves off the course - took out the whole bottom of that car. I'm positive it was driver error. No insurance will cover that either. Poor guy - he loved that car too.

We kicked that hoe down! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif (the door i mean)

I have DZ springs too, but i guess my balls arent as big as yours zero... tongue.gif tongue.gif

When i was following Keri and Joe (Darthripley) they were leaving me behind and i doubt they were even trying.. lol.. they breeeeeeeeezed around the turns, and when i say breeze i mean literally they made it look sexy and fun (i prob made it look nasty and unsafe) lol

Maybe i was just scared to go around blind turns pretty quickly, and i was scared for my life.. but if i hesitated then i knew i would definitely lose control..

PRACTICE FTW and maybe some coilovers lol

WE GOTTTA DO IT AGAIN PEOPLE!!!

Tranny update: anything and everything that has to do with 5th gear is torn all the Sh!t. Total damage: 1800 bucks. Really sucks too cuz i cant just go buy a new one and install it cuz i have no other car and im in between jobs right now trying to find better employment and i need to get to enterviews, and i dont have the time to replace it myself or with Deaths and Pandas help. I need it back now. Sucks!

But oh well. Glad it happened now then later cuz its never a good idea to be late to a new job. i can be late to the job i have now and they dont say anything. And now my Tranny will be in great shap, so there is a plus to all this.

Thanks Mario! biggrin.gif

Joe was at about 50% so not pushing too hard ... we didn't want to completely leave you behind tongue.gif

I was pleased with the alltrac's performance given the fact the suspension is old & worn & original to the car.
the only things we have to help around corners is a Torsen LSD in the rear + the Falken Azenis smile.gif

Next time we'll have a completely redone suspension - GAB 4 way adjustable struts, Jspeed springs, whiteline RSB & new bushings .. should make the handling a bit better biggrin.gif

Havoc, sorry to hear about your tranny, but glad you're getting it all fixed up.

If ya'll are looking to do a really big meet, Kansas would be a great place ... Heartland Park in Topeka is where the MR2's/Elises/Alltracs used to meet in past years. they have a drag strip & a nice road course so there would be events for everyone. maybe it could be an all gen Celica get together?

Sh*t - is it such that you can still drive but have no 5th or is it like the whole tranny is dead? Reason being is cause I'm getting an E153, Rear Mount, Axle Carrier and Axles from an SS-III clip here in town really cheap but it's not like I can rush the guy. As far as I know the clip is still not stripped down and when you're swapping that's not something you wanna do fast - best to take your time and label/photgraph everything you can. I know the guy doing the swap and if I know him at all it'll be at least a month before my parts are ready to go. kindasad.gif
If you don't need it cause you're in a bind I still know one person who needs my old tranny anyway so no big deal any way you look at it.

What I wanna know is how cars like mine and especially Itchy's can drive around swapped on S54 and beating the hell out of it for years and yours takes a dump on a basically stock 5S?

Fixed.
No offense to the Poopra but untill they shed the travesty that is the 7M they remain Poopra's. I wonder if that's anyone Alex knows? I swear that boy knows every Poopra [And no longer Poopra] in Texas. 1JZ's everywhere. biggrin.gif

Just so you know - It was the much younger people in my car that I left for. Despite the fact I'd been up since 6am, sunburnt, hot and clutch leg mutiny I was ready to stick around and/or head for SA wink.gif

Texas FTMFW!

X1000000000000000000
F*ck ya'll - I'm from Texas!

Sux - I can't see the video cause I just got a new comp and the firewall won't let me DL flash player kindasad.gif but with Snap at the controls I have full confidence it was extremely well made. Our video is bouncy due to no car stand for the camera but we all went up a steep steep hill at one point and it [Appears] that Lisa couldn't bring the camera back up due to the G's we were pulling. It's great vid of Snap and Zero. As soon as Photobucket let's me finish the DL's I'll get them right up. Raw shaky footage but cool nonetheless.

Snap - can I get the raw footage and the vid you made for Houston Toyota Club's records? You'll get full ownership/props of course.

D-man, Look at it this way tho - only Alex and I we're able to make the run in the hills out of the entire Houston Crew.

BTW - Houston/Lufkin/Victoria/and hell whoever else would want one - I got HTC stickers in red [of course - I'm out of the rest] if anybody wants one. Hell - Alex and I are HTC OG's - we'll give them to whoever we want. They get you 20% off parts at Joe Myer's and Don McGill Katy BTW.

No - not saying anything against it at all. 222,000 is a respectable amount of time for any tranny to last and I'm sure the uphills on the way to Austin took a few more Houston miles out of her. Your gonna be lovin a new tranny anyway. Better get yourself to my house and pick up that other poly mount while you can for the rear since it will be out anyway - no excuse not to upgrade it [especially when I'm not asking anything for it]

Maybe not since we got you 90% fixed up - there were a couple of cars there with body damage worse than what you got. Plus we needed the representative Vert.
1 5th gen GT4
1 Vert
1 Coupe
and a buttload of HB's

BTW - I got plenty of stickers - you can have two. wink.gif

Yup - I know right where that is - I'll put it with the mount. You better get it to your mech tho before he buttons it up - you know how much of a B it is otherwise [Pretty much why it's not yet on my car]. Wanna stop by on the way home tonight?

That guy wouldnt put it on. I just called and he gave me some BS about Warrenty and it not being a part he ordered and (what cought my attention) was that if he did put it on he wouldnt warrenty any of the work he did. So nah that will be some im doing myself. And to be honest if you want to just give it to me, ill take it and just do it when i do my shocks,Springs and CVs since ill be under the car and now that i know how to get that stupid mount in and out it shouldnt be a problem. Remember, we had so much trouble because we didnt life the engine up by the Oil Pan thus not getting it high enough to get the mount out. it should be a walk in the park the next time around. and to add on to it, i have a new front mount finally that needs to be put on so while im under there i might as well just do the inserts too

Hell - Alex and I are HTC OG's - we'll give them to whoever we want. They get you 20% off parts at Joe Myer's and Don McGill Katy BTW.

I get a bigger discount at Champions Toyota as well. wink.gif I'm not sure if it covers non-Supra parts, but hey, it's worth a shot.

That's fine provided I hook you up on those gauges tomorrow like we said wink.gif You won't have to wait on the boost gauge either cause I already have the new EGT picked out and waiting on your cash biggrin.gif Remember those badass gauges with the stepper motors available in various lighting schemes that Turbochargers has on display right when you walk in? Those
