Great find...too bad its not on my list of stuff to get right now. Does anyone know if they make these things with detachable faces? After I got busted in to I dont feel right leaving something like that in the car overnight, unless I had a garage.

Agreed. not to mention the whole fact of the sun beaming into your car and wiping out the screen frown.gif But it's DEFF a good find at a nice price thumbsup.gif (except for all the blue lighting kindasad.gif ) Deff looks capable, and with a great name behind it smile.gif

Spider77, when you get ready to purchase one, make sure you ask about that. Dont forget an alarm wink.gif

I would make a black cover for the screen that's the same size, that way it doesn't get damaged by the sun.

The screen color and buttons are also able to be changed. I might get one of these when I get paid, it would look sweet in the Celica.

From what I remember when I looked at a display of it, just basic colors, blue, red, orange, green, yellow, and a few others.

Quite a few choices though. But just so everyone who is looking at this knows, it's a basic video unit, cannot do GPS or anything like that, but it is iPod and USB device ready.

GPS in Houston = Garbage...Know your Freeway Systems = FTMFW! biggrin.gif

Besides, too may features in one unit, can really ruin it rolleyes.gif all that action on a 6.5 in screen... you'll end up trying to change the track on the CD then wind up driving to Gay-Al's Man-thong SuperCenter instead of wal*mart laugh.gif Seperate systems FTW! thumbsup.gif

GPS should be higher up anyway; like on a windshield or dash or something ...IMHO...

Blue/Red/Amber/Green/Violet. An alarm is a nice idea, but honestly, Im so used to hearing alarms all day and add to that jet noise, I'll sleep right through it. Stupid apartment living, at least I see the cops all the time ever since my incident. Maybe I'll just fill my car with snakes or something.

Yeah.

For theft-deterrent, you could always chop the front face off the factory radio, then place it over the Pioneer whenever you park your car.

If I even had the factory radio....got rid of that thing about a year ago. The other pioneer version (the one where the screen comes out and up) that has a detachable face. But its a single din and I kinda like the look of the "box"...cleaner.

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to have a double din video unit with a detachable face.

Very nice, but with all detachable faces, I'd worry about the connection of the face to the unit deteriorating over time.

I would too, but like all things tech, it goes in today "state of the art" only to be old in a month. Not like I have that kind of money to throw around. But im sure I could keep it alive for awhile, long enough anyways.

There's no reason why it wouldn't work. Just get the Toyota wiring harness, and you're good to go.

No, you get a harness that is the female version of the male plugs that come out of the factory radio. You wire the harness that comes with the radio into the one with the female ends, then it plugs right up into the male factory harness.

Looks just like the harnesses at the bottom, it all comes in one thing. Search Ebay for "Toyota wiring harness" and you'll find them. Just make sure it's for your year, I believe the harness you want works for Toyotas from 1987-2002.

To make things easier for you, here is everything you need:

Wiring harness to wire up with the Pioneer harness:
http://cgi.ebay.com/METRA-70-1761-TOYOTA-S...Q2em118Q2el1247

Factory harness plugs:
http://cgi.ebay.com/TOYOTA-FACTORY-RADIO-S...1QQcmdZViewItem

This should get you back up and wired correctly. I find when you do it this way, it's much more clean, and easier to re-install a factory radio if you ever choose to.

That's definitely a fantastic price. Crutchfield wants $499 for it. It received good reviews on crutchfield's site too. About the only double din touchscreen I've seen that was cheaper was off-brand stuff on eBay that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

It's probably safe to say there are very few removable face plate double dins. That's an awful big "thing" to carry around with you, and with the touch screen, it's something rather expensive to replace and easy to damage.

$321 at 86th Street Photo and Video. It's $19.99 shipping to my zip. (found it via google of AVHP4000DVD)

http://www.86photovideo.com/products.asp?product_id=18812

Amazon's price fluctuates because it depends on who's selling them, but currently these are about $360 shipped on Amazon as of today. There's a refurbished unit for $319 (plus shipping).

There's also a JVC KW-AVX710 unit:

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-KW-AVX710-Vehicl...5290&sr=8-6

Though I do not know quality-wise how it compares. The JVC unit does have a slightly larger screen though.
