I just picked up a 96 celica st and i want to replace almost all the fluids and other maintenance items on this car, so i would like to know which fluids are best. Heres a list of fluids and other maintenance items i want to change:
- oil and filter - spark plugs - transmission fluid - clutch fluid - power steering fluid - coolant So could you guys recommend me the best products for the things i have listed? This is for a manual transmission 7a-fe. And if you guys could provide me with links or write ups on how to properly flush the cooling system, bleed the clutch fluid, and change the power steering fluid, that would be awesome. Thanks. I had a question about which motor oil to use. Im pretty sure the oil thats been run in the engine is just basic motor oil, not synthetic. Would it be ok for me to start using synthetic at 200k miles, or should i keep using basic motor oil? And should i use the oem toyota filter?
As for spark plug, what spark plug are you guys using on your 7a with good results? And for clutch fluid, should i use a basic dot 3 brake fluid? And for tranny fluid, ive read that penzoil synchromesh is good stuff. Any reason why i shouldnt use it? Will it prolong the life of the tranny? |

since my engine has 200k miles, and i notice theres a leak from the front main seal, i think im going to stick to conventional oil. I dont want to risk a synthetic oil cleaning out too much and causing more oil leaks. So the question is, which conventional oil should i use? Im thinkin castrol gtx 10w30. What do you guys think?
