i have an injen intake and i was woundering if i really need the heat shield that came with it...the heat shield is covering half of the filter and restricting some air flow...if someone can let me know that would be great

a heat shield does just that. its SUPPOSED to block some of the hot air from the engine so you get a lower temperature intake charge.

so yes you do need it.

about restricting airflow, on a car thats not boosted its not enough to make any difference.

Why would you need it? My Weapon R intake is closer to the motor then on an Injen setup. I don't think that you would need the heat shield on.

while the heat sheild is useless, no matter what intake you have the engine heat gets to it.

best thing to do would be to insulate the intake tube

Not an intake ? but is the heat shield on the exaust manifold needed? I personally hate the way they look I like to be able to see the manifold, preferably headers or turbo, but will it harm anything to remove it?

it keeps down under hood temps

so yes, keep the manifold heat shield on

it isn't really blocking air flow i dont think...cause there is still a couple inches between that and the filter itself.

Why do you think all the hot-rodders louvered their hoods in the 50's?

how exactly would you make an insulator for the intake tube?
