Well my ground controls should come in sometime this week. I will hopefully get aound to installin them either this week or the 2 upcoming weekends. I didnt get struts or shocks. I know mine are going to wear out faster but i plan to get Konis later on. Yes i understand the advantage of doing both now but am not doing it like that (i understand the disadvantages as well-$$). For those of you who have these coilovers. I have heard you need to grind something down for them to work. Is this true? or am i getting it confused with replacing the rear struts with Konis. Is this as simple of an install as if I were simply getting springs? Also have any of you used a camber kit with yours? Let me know any good advice I may need during the install. I will be doing it with friends that have installed spings/struts/shocks/camber kits before so I wont be completly alone. I also just helped my friend put on a camber kit for a 96 integra as well so I now have a much better understanding of how the whole suspension setup works. All tips are welcome.
thanks cormudgen |

I have the GC set up, still on stock shocks though. I too am waiting to get Konis, but there are other things that I need to take care of first.
Here's a pic of the full install. You will need to grind the shock housing to a 2" diameter if I remember correctly. I can't find my install pics that I had when I installed mine, but in order to slide the red sleeve onto your perch you'll need to grind that area down a tad. ![]() And there's no need for a camber kit, as long as you dont slam it to the ground. I took mine in when I got mine realigned (which I suggest you do also) and I asked them to check my camber and they said that it was just like it was stock. So need to get a kit. Hope this helps. |

Oh and also, make sure you grease that bearing also, those of us that have these coils have experienced some noises when we'd drive. So make sure you grease them enough...also at the bottom of the spring where it sits on the gold adjuster. I used some plastic inserts that I got from someone who had xtra ones from his DropZones. I put them on the top of the spring and between that aluminum hat and as well as where it sits on the adjuster.
As it helps to zip tie that hat down also. Just like in the pic. |

the install is pretty easy, does it help reduce the noise by zip tieing down the top hat? Ive been running GC for over a year and the only thing that I dont like about em is every so often I have to pull em apart and clean and grease them so they dont make noises.

I was looking at mine today, do those zip ties even stay on or does the weight of the car cut them because the car would have all its weight on them if you leave em on when you install the suspension.

You know I put them on so that it would reduce the rattling that was coming from them. But at that time I couldn't pin point where exactly it was coming from. That's why I zip tied the aluminum hat down. I also did it to keep everything aligned when I lowered it. But when I changed my oil last I believe the weight being applied onto the coils did cut one of the zipties off. |
