Well, I was pulling out of a shopping center onto a major road where you can only make a right. Traffic was light, only two cars comming. One was in the turning lane with his turn signal on preparing to turn into the shopping center I was leaving. Where his lane ended, mine began. He started to make his turn, and the other car had already passed. I began to pull out and next thing I knew, wham... my car is f' ed up.

To sum things up... this guy crossed over a cement barrier and a safety gore and hit me. His explanation to the cop... He realized that he didn't want to make a turn there b/c he was in the wrong place, so he stopped turning, accelerated, and kept going straight, even though his lane failed to exist anymore.

My whole front end needs to be replaced, my radiator came completely off, my left fender needs to be replaced as well as my hood, and then there's the fact that my passenger door won't open any more.

I've had the car two months, and only owe $3700 on it (got it for $6000.75) and just put a stero system in it and a rattler E300 security system. To top things off, I had just gotten the oil changed that same day.

Here's the kicker... my bank has the car valued at $8895... Toyota said it was worth anywhere from $6000-$7200 when I had them appraise it b4 I bought it from another dealer (guy let me take it to them), the blue book value is around $6,900...however, the glorious state of georgie says it's worth $3900...

The insurance companies are saying they might just total the car and give me the $3900... which sucks a** b/c that would leave me with $200 after I pay off what I owe... which is about the cost of the security system after installation. I can salvage the stero system, but now I'm screwed b/c I have to buy another car with no funds to do so.

Damn handicaped old fart....

man old foggies do that all the time here..like when i come to a light there is a right side turning lane and they decide to not turn, slam on the gas at the green light and swerve into my lane and cut me off. happens atleast 5 times a week...i get sick of so whenever people pull up to me like that i always gun it and there is no way that most gramps cars here will out accelerate me so they sometimes drive up on the curb and have to wait for all the other cars to go by.

you should go to the doctor

"have" real bad neck pains and sue his ass. get a supra or something.. hehe

He was found at fault, the cops wrote him a few tickets as well. I didn't have any pain immediately after the accident but about an hour after my neck and left shoulder started to tighten up and spasm out. I just got back from the doctor's office today and she told me I definitely have whiplash and possibly more, so she ordered me to have x-rays done and prescribed some muscle relaxer and physical therapy until the results of the x-rays come back in a few days.

It just really pisses me off. I had just put about $1000 worth of improvements into the car in the past two weeks and now this. The problem is that the car was in an accident b4 I bought it so they might decide to just total the car. I have a feeling I'm not going to get what I've put into the car, just a little more than enough to pay off what I owe. I think I might have to go after him to recoupe my losses. I'd be happy with $6,500 if they total it, I'd still lose money but it would leave me with money for a down-payment on another car. Who knows, I'm just stuck w/out transportation b/c his insurance company won't respond.

u might want to look into getting a lawyer... even if you threaten with a lawyer they all of a sudden are on your side. Your best route is to get a lawyer.

I don't know... If I don't get a response by tomorrow afternoon I'm just going to eat the $500 deductable and get the ball rolling and just wait to get re-embersed after they settle.

I'm hoping beyond hope I get the car back... I love it too much being the first and only car I've ever boughten or driven on my own. If I do end up having to get a new car I don't think I'd get another Celica though. I got a great deal on the first one and the only one's for sale around here are all convertables, cost too much, or have something wrong with them. If I'm going to have to spend more money to buy the same exact car, I'd get something different... more hp/torque, less miles, newer... I don't know.

Any other Celica just wouldn't feel right IMO.

What I want to know is how people like this get licenses. They should do a check for people over 70 every five years too.

feel really sorry for you mate.. nothing worse than having someone smak your car up and then you're out of pocket until it's all sorted. I'd just doen the deal on my UK SR and some muppet drove into the back of my old coupe (rover 200 jobbie) and I had to explain why i couldn't trade in and pick up the car the next week. car took 4 weeks to repair due to lack of parts availablility.
Then the legal case started - luckily my insurance company appointed a solicitor/lawyer to handle my case - after various medical tests and 14 months of wrangling - the day we went to court i got a decent settlement offered just before we went in..

problem is my insurance doubled for the 14 months - luckily once the case was settled the insurance co paid me back a nice amount.

hope it all gets sorted soon bud.

Yeah man. I got into an accident with my first car...96 Dodge Stratus...not too bad for first car lol...at least it was a stick. But yeah, some guy rammed me and totalled my car. The insurance ocmpany only gave me 2500 for it...really stupid...so I went in for my back pains...not realizing that there actually were problems. I figured better just go in and see if anything is wrong to get a bit more money...well yeah ended up hvaing to get 6 months of physical therapy cuz my back got messed up...didn't even know it. Well...I'm glad you're at least in an OK condition and that you will get some money. Definitely get a lawyer...last year...my stepmom's van got behind...only like 1200 in repair...but she got 5700 in an out of court settlement for medical bills and personal expense/loss. Good luck!

Well, I figured out why his insurance company wouldn't call us back. He never re-newed his insurance. So he doesn't have any insurance. I'll find out tomorrow what's going to happen with the car... I'm keeping my fingers crossed... smile.gif

lol... I'll think about it wink.gif

It's been a week since the wreck and I still don't know what's going on with my car. My insurance company said withing 48 hours they'd tell me. Well, it's been about 3 days since then. I'm finally getting a rental car tomorrow from them smile.gif

I called the toyota dealer where my car is and they said they have all the parts on hand to start fixing the car if that's what they decide to do so I guess that's a good thing. However, they told me that someone came out and did an estimate on the car. Only they don't know who it was. My insurance company says they haven't had anyone out there yet. The guy who hit me doesn't have insurance, so no other insurance company would have a reason to look at it. The guy who hit me knows where the car is b/c the cop asked me what I'm gonna do with my car in front of him.

Nothing makes sense... how could the toyota dealer give the keys to someone to do a complete inspection inside and out and under the hood and not ask them for a name or verification?!

Well, got the estimate today. $1700 in parts + Labor. However, the estimate's not right b/c it has the car listed as drivable and no engine damage.

I guess not having a radiator doesn't count as engine damage?!

Got a call from Cobb County Toyota just now... told me the frame is damaged so bad that if they were to try and put it back in square the whole car would rip apart.

Haven't gotten the official word, but they told me they've spoken to the insurance company and that they're not even going to attempt to repaire the car. So I guess that means they're totaling it... which means my loan is just going to get paid off...

Looks like I'll have to go to court against the guy frown.gif

I'm in hell...

I called my insurance company today. They told me to get a second opionion on the car to start with, but I'd have to call back tomorrow b/c my adjuster is not in today, so they don't know the specifics. I got in touch with Cobb County Toyota and they told me that the car could be repaired correctly, but it would cost around $6000 to fix. They guy was nice, but he told me that the insurance compnay told him that their position is that they aren't going to cover anything b/c the car was previously wrecked.

It just pisses me off. I took the car to a toyota dealer and they told me it was wrecked but the repairs were done correctly. Now I get hit by some asshole who is uninsured and now I'm told by another Toyota dealer that the previous work was done far below standards. Apparently my insurance company is going to wipe their hands clean of the issue.

I could have a loan payment to pay off on this car, and I'd have to buy a whole new car. I'll have to go after him personally, and get a lawyer, which is going to cost me more money... money I don't have. And for what? To go after a guy who has nothing? I'd be luckey to get a dime after all my bills are added up.

Right now, I'm out $7,167.83 on a car I owned for 2 months, drove for 12 days (just got my license), all b/c I was in the wrong place when an asshole decided to go over a curb b/c he didn't want to turn.

And I have to get a new car... ugh frown.gif
