I think they do a long time ago, but it was rare, in japan most camrys had stick.

Anyways the transmission is E-153 and you can get it off a JDM camry solara, V6 camry, and you probably use a 3SGE transmission

on the jdm cars the trans bolts up on the opposite side than US, right? so when installing say a... 3s-gte from a RHD car into one of ours you have to keep it bolted to the same side? so how is it possible to use a made for LHD tranny on a jdm engine in our cars?

nope, JDM or USDM, shifting linkage is the same, say you are in a USDM 5-speed, 1st gear would be up and towards you (left), in a JDM 5-speed 1st gear would be up and away from you (still to the left). no difference. when you need to start switching around shifting linkage is if you use a MR2 transmission, and mount it in the front of the car. and BTW, you wouldnt want to use a GT4 celica 3sgte trans in a USDM celica because the GT4s are AWD, unless you want to go that route. to keep it FWD you need to use either a USDM GT trans (which from supersprynt, has a hard time holding that much power), a USDM/JDM Mk2 MR2turbo trans, or a 3sge trans from various places, or like what was said earlier, you could try the V6 trans off the camry or solara.

if you go the 3sge route make sure that you get the one that has the starter exit the bell housing on the driverside of the vehicle cuz the one where the starter exits to the passanger side wont work with the 3sgte motor.. thats the boat im in right now.. you can fix this problem with a 5sfe bell housing.

He said in a different post that he's switching back to FWD due to complications at high speeds... well something like this can happen if the AWD conversion isn't done the RIGHT way...

hey kuya... do you even own a celica??? cuz all I ever see you post is stuff dissin other peoples cars...

GT2GT4... I have posted quite a bit about how I decided it ditch the GT4 rearend out of my car, I made the decision based on the fact that at 120+ the car would start to pull to the side and I really couldnt take it over 140 safely. after weighing my options and a nice offer for the rearend parts I decided to remove the setup and go FWD for a while, I wanna break 160 in my celica this year and I wasnt gonna do it with the AWD,Next winter I plan on tearing apart the motor agian and redoing the internals.. If I can afford it the JUN stroker kit and Greddy t78 turbo kit... maybe at the time I will lookin to having a shop align a new rear end for me.. am keeping the AWD trans so who knows.... time and money - spent WAY too much of both already on this car.

Wasn't aware that JUN made a stroker for the 3sgte, thought it was only the 5s.

And LOL about Kuya, you bet he has a Celica. I saw it a LONG time ago when I was at ELP getting some stuff done. Check the swap list that was made a sticky.

yea man Kuya has been a lot more helpful, trustworthy and proven than you have. Ive seen pics of his JDM conversion, his ST205 front clip, rare parts (sideskirts) etc. and the various stages of his celica. The only pic i have ever seen of your car is the one in your sig w/ boatloads of vinyl and a parkbench strapped to the back. Nothing to back up your 3sgte conversion, awd setup or anything of the sort. Before calling someonebody else out, make sure you can prove what you have been telling people.

to neverstop: oh i must've been away and never read those threads..sorry if i came off like a dick

to rivo: ya the 3s-gte stroker kit IS for the 3s-gte not the 5s-fe but the engine needs to be bored out to make the displacement 2.2 liters.

I only diss on people who think they know what they're talking about, and people who like to brag about **** that they can't back up...

And if all you've been reading was about me dissin on people's cars, I think you should spend more time on these boards and read more of my posts... actually, why don't you read all my posts and tell me the number of times I've dissed someone vs. my total number of posts...

Besides...I think it's S53 tranny...or something like that...just I know it's not an E...

E means economy
S means sport

I don't think that's true.. E series engines were used widely in non-Economy setups... and S series on economy setups...

Yeah, the SS3 with the BEAMS used either the S54 or the E56 (I think those are the right ones, I have it written down somewhere. Definately not an economy only setup.
