Here's a sad story: I sent it to get painted at a local college becos labor was free. it sat in there for 1 1/2 years
Then when they were done in July 2008 i took it to the mechanic to transform her into an AWD. But I am now leaving the country to singapore for work for an indefinite period of time.
The car still needs a ST205 fuel tank and the 2 front drive axles
So i'll never get to drive it and experience the AWD =(

If anyone wants to take it off my hands feel free to. if not she'll just be sitting at my mechanic's shop. ( he said he didn't mind me leaving it there)
Please communicate through my email: longsbeans@hotmail.com. since the PM box here is so small

-Bought car from Ryu3x16 in april 2006
-Clean title,
-I know a place to pass smog,
-the 3s has about 50k miles on it
-chassis has about 140k
-whats being installed now: brand new clutch and fly wheel, ST205 rear diff and the whole 9 yards.
-Brand new paint, I only saw it for couple of hours driving from the college to the mechanic.
- I pretty much prepaid for most of the work and parts already

U can see my profile for more the existing mods.
or here is ryu's profile of the car http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=members&itu=774

EDIT#5: dropped the price to $5000. need to sell this...its been too long...someone takeover this baby of mine

EDIT#4: Raymond(and the car) has now moved to 19949 Valley Boulevard, Walnut, CA 91789

EDIT#3: edited price becos its still not finished (fuel tank and front axles). The car's at 2875 South Diamond Bar Boulevard, Diamond Bar, CA 91765-3418

EDIT #2: just added some latest pics i took from the mechanic's shop. The celica's all dusty from the ashes in the air. I posted these pics on page 2 of this thread

EDIT#1: Here's an article on a an engine project by my mechanic Raymond: http://www.superstreetonline.com/featuredv..._sr5/index.html

Just wondering how much work is left on the car?

Tranny, clutch flywheel are in. whats left is a back ordered piece from toyota japan that secures the rear diff. But Raymond has 2 cars to prepare for a race in Dec so he will finish mine in Jan.

some pics at the mechnics: its all dusty from the fire ashes in the air.

Personally i don't like the gold GT four sign. One of the students at Los angeles trade tech decided t put it there without my consent. I was going to remove it once the car was ready...oh well.. some of you may like it...

dude, is that DUCT TAPE holding your battery down?? LMAO

yes when i took it from the school that painted my car, they lost the nut that holds the retaining hooks down. so to steady the batt just for the drive from the school to the mechanic i duct taped it. =)

Nope it hasn't been started. I am not back but will be for a short holiday sometime this year. hope to sell this car by then.

The AWD is in. the only 2 things left is the front drive axles and the fuel tank. If someone can find these parts and give it to Raymond the mechanic he will finish up the car.

Hmmm... This might be a better route than me trying to import a GT4 here to the States. I can get the car from you LongsBeans. But I'll need a month. Reason why is because I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan. And my wife lives in Sacramento, CA. Only way for me to do this is to pay you. Then have the shop guy fix it for me while I send him the parts and pay labor. And after that, get a shipping service to send it to my wife. That'll take... another 2 more months after purchase... Hmmmm... What to do. Also, may I get pix of the car send to xcross85@yahoo.com. For some reason, this satellite signal over here isn't letting me load the images. Thanks.

Unfortunately I'm currently located OUT of the country as of the moment. Idk if there is anyway of contacting the mechanic and the 'friend' that is holding the title for him in UCLA... I might bail out of this one. It's already starting to become a headache and not enough evidence this car still exists or if it's even able to run the fact that it's been sitting since 2008... And also, no point of contacts, names, numbers, etc. to even get this thing going. I'm not in a hurry to get a car either. I got a couple more months before this deployment is over.

EDIT: Just googled the address. That isn't a mechanic shop that sits on that address. It's a food/restaurant named Kim Union... Yeah, I'm bailing now. Thinking this is a scam now.

I can vouch for the seller, but I have never seen the car. Back when this thread was first created he sold me a pair of 404 replica side skirts. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

If you google map the new location you can see the Celica parked up against the building facing the street... thumbsup.gif - its the one with the car cover bunched up on it on the hood.

It's alright GarLun. I talked to Raymond... He said the car "should" run after the fuel tank is installed. He said that James owns the car. Idk if you go by James or what not. But I'm sending him an email with more info. So it's whenever you're ready for the transaction longsbeans.

I'm gonna finish up his awd conversion project for him kdash. Wished it was a 3rd gen 3sgte swap (the MAF is annoying) but that'll be taken care of in time. Idk if you know Raymond @ DB Autocare / Race Toys but the car is still over there and he's going to finish it up. Still pending payment though. James and I are having an issue with the cashier's check my bank sent him. It has both of our names on it... Idk why they did that. His bank won't let him deposit it so he's sending it back to me. I'm gonna deposit it and do a direct transfer into his account. Right now we're just waiting on the cashier's check to get back to my wife so she can handle it.

yea i know raymond did a couple of harnesses for him personally for a couple of his swap and honestly i don't like his work and he keeps pushing your cars back really annoying. took him a little over 2 years for him to finish my buddy's 86 corolla and still me and my buddy are fixing his work. he knows his stuff i'll give him that just wish he could focus on finishing one car at a time. nice to know ryu's car is gonna be back up and driving. if i had the knowledge like i do now that swap he did back then would of been in a lot better condition.

Yeah. I'm starting to see where you're coming from. I'm still waiting on that quote for parts and labor. I called him twice and he kept saying he'll email me. I still have a couple of months left here. But I plan on having the car with a close friend when I return back to Texas so that I can have a ride for work and look for a place to stay when I get back. If he still isn't finished with the car before two months prior to my return to the United States, I'll have the car towed to someone who I know will finish it up and wants to get paid.

you gotta get on him if you want him to finish if you don't it will NEVER get done. When you do get it up and running i suggest you take it to a shop and look under the car cause i'm pretty sure he's gonna half ass some stuff. check for leaks, loose hoses or anything because like i said i don't fully trust his work. it will be running but probably not to your liking.

Will do, esp. when I get back. I'm taking it to ATS Racing in Dallas, TX for turbo upgrade, standalone ecu, and etc. when I get back regardless. They should be able to clean it up if anything. If he half asses everything, why did you cousin take it to him? lol. Just a thought.

my cousin is ryu not the current owner. as for why he took it to raymond i have no idea. at the time i wasn't too good at working on cars as i was still a newbie. now on the other hand am a expert toyota technician and soon to be master after i pass the toyota test. raymond like i said is good but he just takes on too many projects at a time and can never do what he promises to his customer so he rushes to get it done and it never turns out fine. I just wish he takes on one job at a time that way his quality of work would be excellent.

I told Raymond that if he doesn't feel like finishing it, I'll tow it to someone else that I know can do it. But he insisted. It's kind of annoying if you tell me one thing and do the total opposite. It's really... untrustworthy to be doing that. Just scared that I'm paying someone who isn't going to do quality work like "I" would if I was to work on my car. I'm a mechanic myself which is why I'm very skeptic. I'll be inspecting everything when I get back to the states from Afghanistan. Thanks for the heads up kdash.

Yep is it still available. FortuneCookie ran into some administartive issues with DMV because he couldn't be there in person to register the car as he was serving in Afganistan.

I happened to go there two weeks ago to take a look at the car. The car is there and when I talked to Raymond he said that the car is not ready yet. He is working on those things that the owner could not get for him to finish. I inspected the car and it looks still in good condition. The front conversion needs a little more work as there is that gap between the front bumper and the hood. I don't know if the car has been started lately as I did not ask, but it looks like it hasn't, and if it has, it has not been moved as the surroundings seem to indicate. I hope it helps. I took a pic of the car that I hope to post later. Got to move it from my cell to my Mac to upload.

Hi all, sorry for the late reply.
I've dropped the price to $5000. If you can get the fuel tank and front axles for Raymond the mechanic he'll assemble it for you. I don't think he has started the car in the past 3 years years.

cheers

Just so that it's clear, we would pay you $5,000.00 and then give the parts to Raymond so that he can assemble them and complete the car right. Will he charge us for these services extra or his services are included with the price?

The ST205 fuel tank just doesn't fit... Buy a cheap fuel cell and just get it done.

You're right czwalga, I just told Raymond to get the parts and finish the project. hopefully It'll be done when I come to LA at the end of the month and I can settle a sale.

Wait! So the ST-205 fuel tank won't fit your clone? Why not? Didn't you do the conversion to AWD and basically swapped everything?

BTW my stock ST-204 FWD cloned to ST-205 is done, but if I had seen your post before stating my project a year ago, I would have bought yours and complete it. Too late, GLWS.

wow i just read the history of this thread and all i can say is wow, this is nuts tongue.gif

the price hasnt dropped a dollar and the whole deal revolves around this RAY guy? you couldnt pay me two grand for him to let me do the work needed aka hold on to it for another 5 years.

if anyone would considering paying anywhere near the 5 grand for a car thats been sitting for 5 years (at least), and in the middle of a conversion, that deal would have to include being free to be able to drive up, and take the car far, far away from Ray.

sorry i dont mean to come off harsh, but seriously? its so sad to see this celly like this, still, after all this time, and so many people obviously interested.

I bid 1.6k ON THE CONDITION THAT #1 the fuel cell/axle dilemma is solved so that when I go down there I can TEST DRIVE IT, #2 it passes smog not somewhere that you know "a guy" but passes smog, #3 new fluids on EVERYTHING, new fuel pump and water pump.

I know I'm getting myself into a headache if I were to buy this car... new belts all around, new gaskets all round, rust accumulation, brake lines possibly, new hosing throughout the car, who knows how a turbo or IC is affected with not being driven for so long, it still needs a fuel cell, the fact that I would need to drive this car 500 miles reliably after not being driven for who knows how long... the possibility that some college kid decided to be stupid with it and potentially ruined the engine gah! So many questions so little time. Know one even knows if the AWD conversion was successful or if possibly something is wrong.

That's one of the things worrying me so much about it, amongst many other concerns. The main thing that will make it or break it for me is the AWD, if it's true AWD and working functionally... I may have to perhaps buy a spare 5sfe and swap it in when the smog comes. But that's thinking that all issues I can think of are resolved first and quite frankly I don't see it happening.

i its awd its an automatic fail smog. other wise u gotta disconnect the transfer case so u can dyno it, 2nd relocated fuel tank if all evap isnt hooked up correctly it will fail, ca uses a diff evap system and EGR. anyways good luck.

if it has a 3S in it, IT WILL NEVER PASS SMOG! Period!

Now you could keep a 5S in there, connect the 5S to the AWD trans, keep it NA, SMOG it, then add the turbo system. Then take it off when SMOG is due.

I totally agree with everyone here . this car is most definitely not 5k anymore. Maybe what's fair is that the buyer take the car 1st, assess it and then post his findings(with pics of replacement parts) for the community to decide what's fair for the $. As long the community here can honestly vouch for the buyer. A little deposit before you take it will suffice.
The buyer should also give a time line on completing the project. If not then this 'sale' might drag on for too long

To be honest I don't want to have to do work for your car, I want you to do the work and I buy. I will give a small deposit after I see the car is fully functional and driving with registration and smogged.
