It may be dumb to ask but is pressure spelled wrong in the one gauge or is it spelled preshure in New Zealand. Nice work by the way I like the blue ac controls. I want to do mine in blue. Did you use leds or the film method?

My Bad Spelling. Yes it should be Pressure. confused.gif

As to the ac control's I've used both.
1) I have replaced the Green 3mm with Blue 3mm 1200MCD (Super Bright)
2) I have cut stripes of Dark Blur Gels and folded them 4 times to make a "hood" for each LED so that they don't dazzle me.

When I had just the LED with no "hood" it was so bright you could not see the blue background and With the lights off it distracted me during the day.

If you ask nicely I'll get photos of the unit for you to see (OK OK all you actually have to do is ask.) biggrin.gif

As to the Photo it's a photo and MS Paint Touch-up.

I'm in the process of building the Gages and I hope to have a prototype Voltmeter in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

So Besides the Spelling ! Any other Comments.

OK photos on Updating the AC unit with LED's

AC unit and Implements of Destruction I used for the job

Ready to Disassemble

Testing the LED's and getting the polarity correct

Inserting a LED

LED's inserted and ready to solder (Not long and short pins

Making the Hoodies
1) Cut the Gel into a thin strip

Fold in 1/2

and 1/2 again

Insert 1 end of the hoody between the LED and the Plastic Support

Carefully bend the Gell and insert between the LED and Plastic Support on the other side.

I have left the Full Fan LED un-hooded to try and show you how bright it is but the photo will not show the difference very well.

The best thing to do would be to go to your locak electronics store and compare the normal LED to the Super bright and then you will understand.

I hope this will help and inspire people out there to attempt this mod as it makes a BIG difference to the look of the AC Unit and the Dash as a whole. biggrin.gif

As well as the Above AC change last night I added Blue under LED's to both Driver and Passenger foot wells

The photo is darker than in real life.

Added Blue LED's to the Dome Light

I have added the LED to the Normal dome light, Both LED'a and Dome light have separate switches and both are trigged buy opening the door/s

I have added to the dome light rather than replacing it so that I can get White light to search for stuff and use the map lights.
Part 2 of this is to build and install a delay dimmer circuit that will leve the lights on fo 15 seconds then dim but will immediately dim when I turn the key to ACC.

Next on the list is to and more LED's to the AC unit (Secret till finished) and add some LED's to the boot.
I have changed the Cubby and Ashtray to blue so all that is left is the boot (I have a Coupe)

Nice work there! Would you mind removing the clear plastic cover from the dome light and taking a picture of the lights in there? I like the idea of what you've done there but am having a hard time understanding what exactly/how you did that. I HATE my dome light - it's the worst yellow EVER! I actually want to change mine to be bright white, but I'd really like to see what you've done.

nice pics thanks. what did you use for the main back lights the ones that come on with the headlights. I like the dual dome light. I think it would look really good if you replaced the stock bulb with super white led array.

My Dome Light

What I did is I drilled 2 holes and inserted 2 bright blue LED's

The small glass looking things. This way I have the best of both worlds, Blue light and White light.
I have mounted a small switch on the dash to turn the blue LED's on or off.

Hope this helps, If you cant see them tell me and I'll ring them in red or something.

OK more work done to the Car.

I'm trying to spruce up the AC controle unit on my car.

I have added more Blue LED's and some new Red ones to the Temprature dial.

Cold

Hot

and in Daylight/Flash

I have them running of the normal light for now but I'm working on getting them to work with the Blue LED's in the Unit
Bright for day and dimmer for night. If any one has experience withthis in the AC unit I'd apreciate any help.

Damnit! You can't do that cool-ass color temp change thing without telling us how you did it! At least a tiny photo? Or is it just way too late for that?

Nice work!

Thank You biggrin.gif

This is still a work in Progress..... laugh.gif

So Far I have 4 red leds and 5 Blue but I'm looking at 3mm leds to get the best light distrebution.

As to How
1) I removed the Clear plastic the normaly surrounds the temperature knob.
2) I solderd up some LEd and placed them inside
3) Drilled a few holes to get the wires out.
4) Connected up the wires.
5) LOL laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif above took me 3 weeks to get to this stage but now it should be quicker.

As I have sead this is a work in Progress and I'm hoping to have a better solution soon
The Problem is that I have to use the Car every day so I cant leve the AC unit out to work on and it's getting a bit batterd with all the in and out stuff.

I will make all plans, mesurements and componets avalabl eto all at 6GC as soon as I can. biggrin.gif

Wow. Simply beautiful work. I can't wait to see the illustrated how-tos! I am so eager to do this with my climate control. Of course it won't look as nice because the NON-USDM climate controllers are so much nicer than ours are, but still.

I think the euro Celicas have that 1st climate control. That thing is so nice... it's actually real climate control. Ours is more of an on/off device kindasad.gif

So of course, yes, I have the second one too. Only mine is special in that the smaller of the 2 knobs has a crack in it. Adds 5 HP to my engine though! laugh.gif

OMG - no comment laugh.gif

I wish someone here would be willing to do ours for us. Out of not just curiosity [I am currently in the market for a red converted CC] - how much do you think it would be to source a simple CC unit liek we get here, convert it and ship it to 77040? If the price isn't terribly bad I'd be down to buy one from you [At a profit to you of course]

Go for it bmj67 wink.gif

Set aside several houres and do it methodicaly and you doo a sweet job.

I love showing off the changes I have made and enthuse outher people to make the chanhes thay have been thinking about.

Suggestions:

1) If you don't have on Get a Multi Meter that can test Diods (i found 1 bad LED in a batch of 10 I bought, with out testing I would have cursed and cursed to try and figuer out what I had done wrong) biggrin.gif

2) Post your progress and finished items you will insire outher people. thumbsup.gif

New Stuff

This week-end I made 2 changes to my car.

1) I shorted my Auto Gear selector by about an inch thus giving me quicker shifts ( laugh.gif )
2) I have fitted an electric boot/trunk release to go with the key and Cable release that was standard on my car.
With (2) I was hoping to tie it in with my alarm system but sadly I don't think it will work.
Now all I have to do is find a rely good push switch and a good location (thinking of the coved up hole in the dash Drivers Side or the round think next to the driver's vent)
for the boot/trunk release

Suggestion on Locations and types of push switches most welcome.
Also any one know of a Toyota push switch I might use.

Sorry to be a party pooper but is there any chance I could reclaim my V12 1400W 4ch amp? My friend has finished rebuilding his badass Honda and now he has his amp and subs back leaving me with no beats frown.gif

Your ground cables and blue lights look nice now, given this time you've outdone everything I ever wanted to do, nice work smile.gif

Cheers man, right now I'm in the midst of prepping a pile of stuff to get my car in decent shape again- I've let it go over the years I've had it, so it's due for quite a tidy up as well as a few mods! I'll be changing the gauges and interior lighting to red- I don't want to use LEDs, but finding red caps for bulbs is a PITA, TRD muffler (and possibly some generic headers), replace the broken monsoon visors, repair sunroof, cut and polish and a general detail... but I have a few other things in my life that are taking priority first! biggrin.gif

I was considering getting the wiring done, but from this and a few other sites I'm willing to have a crack myself- how much all up do you reckon it would cost for the wiring you've installed/ are installing? Is the one you've installed the one off of trademe? I love the red/blue lights to reflect the change of temperature...

I got the 8 guage wiering from trade me $30 or so and then bought a 1 meter 4 guage wire fron JB-HIFI for about $12 and the Gold terminal at the end of the 4 guage for about $5.
Battery Terminal cosy me $28 (trademe) for the pair.

Then lost and lots of time to get it installed.

The red/blue in the temprature is 4 red LED's and 5 Blue ones.

As I have written before I'm working on a better solution but I kneed to get out to a scrap yard and get another unit so I can work on it.

Also currently They only work with the lights on and I want to see if I can do a day light and night light situation. biggrin.gif

So things have been a little slow since I helped delusionz rig up the Electric Boot/Trunk and Fuel Releses.

I did the Fuel and Trunk Releces on my car, as well, and I'd been looking for a place to put the switches.
I was also looking for a stelth way to do them So this week end I did the following
(Yes delusionz this is ver 2.0 you saw ver 1.0 with the Big switches.)

Stelth Mode

Switches Revield.

Switches Again

Starting at the Top the switches do the Following.

1st Switch - Enables the Truk Relese (Flick switch to 1 and press the big Siler Button (on dash board)

2ns Switch - Enables the Fuel Release (Flick switch to 1 and press the big Siler Button (on dash board)

3rd Switch - Blue LED Curtesy lighting.

4th Switch - lets me see things on the Head unit - this is also wired to the Handbreak as per safty instructions. (PS this is a secret) laugh.gif

5th Switch - This is a big Secret for now tongue.gif

6th Switch - (Blue momentary) Also Secret for now. tongue.gif

I hope to have more updates soon.
nuge nuge wink.gif wink.gif

My Old sound system Sucked as delusionz wanted his Amp back and the Sub was louzy so I have updated my Sound System

1) Changed the head unit to an Alpine FVA-W306 [4 x 45w output and a rca output + volume control for the sub] thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

2) Installed 8" 3 way Ulitmate Titanium II Full Range Speakers in the fron doors - Left the 6.5" Pioneers in the Back. thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

3) Bought a 2nd hand (but good) Pioneer GM-X802 (good for 300W in Mono mode) + (Sitll have to change the lights to Blue) thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif [now delusionz wants to swap amps with me] laugh.gif

4) Bought another 2nd hand Sub (Mutch better than the 1st one) thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

I just love the Sound in my car now (But I still have to sound insulate it). biggrin.gif

Hey man, Can you do my (2x) CC units? tongue.gif

PS. All the bulbs are burnt out in mine, however I don't think it's the bulbs, since they went out in rows? 1st the bottom row, then the middle row, now everything.

I finally finished the cold air intake on the SS-III Celica, man it goes so hard! I'm getting my exhaust redone and my wastegate actuator sorted on Wednesday. I like 18psi but it's a little more useful at 7000rpm as opposed to 5000rpm when its got a fuel cut biggrin.gif

This is still a work in Progress..... laugh.gif

So Far I have 4 red leds and 5 Blue but I'm looking at 3mm leds to get the best look.

As to How
1) I removed the Clear plastic the normaly surrounds the temperature knob.
2) I solderd up some LEd and placed them inside
3) Drilled a few holes to get the wires out.
4) Connected up the wires.
5) LOL laugh.gif laugh.gif above took me 3 weeks to get to this stage but now it should be quicker.

As I have sead this is a work in Progress and I'm hoping to have a better solution soon
The Problem is that I have to use the Car every day so I cant leve the AC unit out to work on and it's getting a bit batterd with all the in and out stuff.

I will make all plans, mesurements and componets avalable to all at 6GC as soon as I can. biggrin.gif

Long time no see mate.... kindasad.gif

How is the boot and fuel release going (Still love playing with the new switches I installed biggrin.gif )

If you can drop one off and do with out if for about 2 weeks I can do it (over worked at work rolleyes.gif BUT hay I have a job so not all bad thumbsup.gif )

I can then re work all the LED's and do a better job of the Temp scale.

Still got to take the GT4 out for a decent spin.... soon tongue.gif

Latest Updates.......

Aftermarket Oil Press, Oil Temp and Water Temp Guages

Unfortinatly they are only in White but I'm looking into changing to blue.

Now a lot of People will go "What a wast his engine is stock" BUT

I love my Guages and have been wanting to get these for a long time.
I have fond out that on my daily trip to work and back only in the last 5 - 10% is my oil temprature in the correct place (90 to 95 Dec C).
So now I know when to floor the accelareter and when not to.

In the next few days I'll poost more pictures of the sender units. (Something I was looking for before I installed)

I have changed my Gauages again for better looking ones.

The 3 new guages

New Water Temp Guage

New Oil Temp Guage

New Oil Press guage (Not in PSI nor Bar but in Kg/cm2)
[1 kilogram-force/square centimeter = 14.223 343 334 pound/square inch]

Now and this is interesting for me and possably others out their wiht the same guages (Water temp, Oil, Temp and Oil Press) can confirm this.

My Oil Press workes well being high on start up (6 to 7 on my guage [85 to 99 PSI] but when the engin is hot is is aroun 1 [14 PSI]

The Water temprature is a lot faster that the oil temp with the oil only getting to 100 C at the end of 20 to 30 minutes of driving.
On my guages the water temp varies from 87.5 to 92.5 C and so far the highest reading on the oil is 100 C

Any one want to compare reading with me?

biggrin.gif

Hay deluzions call me abou my old guages as well as changing your Air Con units (I'll even do them in read well blue ones for the cold part of the temp setting) biggrin.gif

Hey nice dials.

kg/cm2 is similar to bar as 1 bar is also between 14 to 15 psi.

my boost gauge reads x100 kPa (which is bar)

QUOTE
The Water temprature is a lot faster that the oil temp with the oil only getting to 100 C at the end of 20 to 30 minutes of driving.

that would be the thermostat.

Hey does the rise of your water temp gauge match the rise of your stock gauge? I keep to 1/8th of the pedal until the stock temp gauge gets half way

Yes I'm loving my guages..... laugh.gif

Got a complement about them from VTNZ when I woffed my Car on the week end. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

My stock water temp is on the block and the After market is on the Radiato Pipe so they are out of sync untill the thermostat opens.

With the guages showing me tempratures I do not hit the gas pedal hard untill I have at least 60 on the oil temp.

Come on over this week end to have a look. rolleyes.gif

PS. I have the 52mm guages that I first installed if you are intrested (With your turbo you should have these guages) biggrin.gif
You will have to look at getting http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-239519305.htm
and http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-240593491.htm

These are what I've used and I installed in about 2 houres (Good clen looks OEM instalation - I'll be putting up photos soon)
