Hey just wondering why gas is so cheap and what are some of the prices you all have seen.

Is it because of the elections?

Global economic turndown. Lower demand for oil, even though opec is trying to "stabilize" oil prices at a still inflated 70-90 USD a barrel by cutting production. A lot of political undertones going along with the oil roller coaster.

you guys are lucky, america's servicemembers are paying 4.06 here in japan because AAFES bought so much in bulk, and they have to run out of this 'bulk' before the price drops. hopefully it does before prices go back up.

We're steady around 2.57 still.

Because of the economy people are doing things less. Traveling, driving, etc. So demand is lower. Demand lowers and prices lower.

Errr, this is what they want you to believe. Prices dropped by 50%, but do you see 50% less cars on the road? Is morning traffic 50% better? Nope.
The reason for the lower prices is because the stock market crashed, and the two oil tycoons are finally leaving the white house.

I just filled up for 2.44. Took about 25$ to fill the tank, compared to the 50$ it took before. Thank god thats over...at least for now.

It doesn't have anything to do with conspiracy. Oil prices shot up because there was a new law passed that allowed stock market investors to speculate on the future price of oil. This caused people to game the system in order to drive prices higher and higher in order to help oil companies make record breaking profits. Now that the stock market crashed, all the speculators pulled out to try to save their own ass, and you see the price fall back down to normal supply and demand levels.

The comment about the two oil tycoons (bush and chainey) being in the white house was actually a comment made by nancy pelosi. smile.gif

That sounds about right, although I know what they tell us is a lie. I have also heard it had to do with the economic problem in USA and something about gas importers able to lower gas prices (I know I am off but this is the sum of it) because they do not want to help USA and pocketing profits? I dunno, I read something about that on yahoo news, not sure exactly how accurate it is, but that is what they said. Regardless, more people are not using public transportation. So what we can argue is why is it going to go back up?

I am not one to be big on conspiracy, although I do believe these things get set in motion. Gas prices soar>USA Economic Issue> Election> Lower Gas Prices. The president gets looked upon as hero who "fixes" our problem. What this tells me is that officials have lowered our gas to make our problem seem "manageable" long enough for the new president to play as hero. The government also bought a lot of these companies that sold or supposedly went bankrupt. More money in the pockets of others. Anyways, all I am saying is something doesn't seem right. Again, I could be wrong, because I do not follow on news, politics, or anything like that.
