Speed Sensor, Speedo erratic Options

My speedo is erratic sometimes reading correctly then not at all. I need to diagnose the dial or the speed sensor. The ABS light comes on and that I have heard rules out the speed sensor, but is there also one fitted to the gearbox and wher do I find it.

first to check out is the cel codes. There should be sticky somewhere on the forum or all you need to do is jump e1 and te1 with a paperclip and look and count the number times the cel blinks. This will help narrow down where the problem area could be.
