My new, old engine with 75k miles for $600 is not running it was running but then the fuel pump went out , a new found friend installed it but anyway he said the engine was running good but then he tried to start it ....it cranks.....and cranks... no spark i did the old screw the coil with a screw driver 2 check fo spark but there is no spark ...... he had to go do some stuff.... i think i read someone say maybe the condenser in the distributor could cause a lack of spark or the cap or the top... anyone got any ideas?

sounds like he put a used engine in his car and it quit running, they assumed it was the fuel pump, replaced it, and it still wont start. now they've found that it has no spark.

Putting a new cap/rotor isnt all that hard. Why would you pay a mech to do something that simple? Especially one that wont work in mild weather...I can e-mail you the BGB stuff on that subject if youd like.

true i got a 94 as well, a coupe, white, a lame st but it will be equipt with a 97 gt convertable spoiler haha and i spent sleepless nights saying how lame is was that the wing wouldnt work for a fastback and a coupe, 4 rims and a 1997 gt celica passeneger door....long story.......long story short.... i hurt the pole more than it hurt me.... an... and wellllll the guy was a mexican mechanic who does tranys,im mexican too but you know whats i mean....ps look at my location....if you dont want to due to lazyness... its 90 miles west of the gulf of mexico and 10-15 min from mexico...so we're all over.. but seeing as he has to unbolt and rebolt those tranys what the fudge is the difference between that and motor transplant...except you leave the trany im place...although he said he had to drop it cuz the engine locked up on him the original .... the engine was blown but i dono crank cracked maybeee ill have to rip it apart maybe haha ka ka kunk.... dam thats what it sounded like a year a go........ oh yeah point being im not paying him to do it u smart ass... i was just looking for help as to what the heck could cause the wires.. plugs...or whateva whateva not to fire.. did i say i was gonna pay him?
point being hes a trany guy not an elctrical engineer... me niether but lets just leave it at that

600 for motor-183 in parts...fuel pump 400 4 install and removal and other instals removals fyi distributor, platnium 4's, cables....i think thats it **** the whole ignition.... but anyway o got the cap and rotor and i was gonna go see if that would do it cuz i havent turned my car on in over a year.....so it hasnt turned me on in return so i have high hope that that is it.9 am tomorrom texas time ill know whats up...but i dont think ill need the diagram man but thanks....just take out old cap and old cap screws, slip old rotor out, slip in new rotor, put on new cap and old screws right?

why i mentioned the mechanic.... i dono ...why i said anything else... i dono... i wish my celica was a stick... frown.gif hahah

3 things that can possible cause no spark.

1) ignition module

2) ignition coil

3) ecu

Do you have an engine light on?

Wow dude, your writing skills are bad. It's really hard to understand what you're trying to say. Is English your second language?

"oh yeah point being im not paying him to do it u smart ass... "
WTF was that about? And about your location...well cause im lazy i didnt care to look it up when you had first posted this to see if you were close by. You know im too lazy to cruise by and help someone T/S something.
My advice (if you havent got this fixed by now) is to start your T/S process over again. Start with the plugs, wires, dizy, wire running to coil, then the coil and so on. You shouldnt start at the middle and jump around. Another thing thats going to help you out is pick up a manual, d/l the bgb. Even though I know a fair amount I still use these publications. Its just good to have something laying around that you can reference.

SO your not getting anything from the coil on down? I just gotta ask, when you try to crank it, does it actually crank, and if it does does it sound sloooow?

QUOTE (deeeggoh @ Dec 24, 2008 - 2:54 AM) *
it doesnt crank slow but theres like no juice going and they said the rpms would jump if it was a fuged up distributor and the diagram said it could be a fuse a relay or a vehicle speed sensor

its located between the tranny and the engine ... who would have guessed? ah i hate it when you shoulda done it your self haha o well i didnt have a torque wrence or much time so o well thanks dad
