Yeah so I dunno where to get this stuff. Prefer to go online and order them, because not sure if I trust places around here. But, if I must........ So how much am I looking at to buy them and where is a good source for ones that WILL fit? I need them bad now....... I have waited too too long.

u can get kirks poly urethane motor mount inserts.

they are the BIGGEST pain to put in but have FANTASTIC results in the end. its as though the engine is connected to your foot through the gas pedal.

So are there certain ones specifically for their location? Or are they all the same? I have seen a package on eBay, but do not trust it, because there was only 2 for the engine and 1 for the transmission. I can't find my Celica Repair Manual right now (will look tomorrow), but I thought there were 3 for the engine and 2 for the transmission...... Or am I wrong?

Doesn't really matter. Just something good enough to be like OEM. Really I am thankful for the chance to gain this experience, so I am not really looking to blow $500 on this. Maybe like $200 max...... Or I guess they can reach up to $300, I dunno.

Well you are being very helpful. Inserts? I dunno. For a year, they have been telling me they need to be replaced. A guy jumped in my car and drove it because my clutch is under warranty, and without looking under the hood and drove it one block was like "Yeah, I won't touch it until we get those motormounts replaced, it really needs it man". I need to do this asap. So I need to be directed to where I can purchase these right away (sooner the better to have complete by 20th of Jan) and how much I am looking at.

I thought I should change the Trans mount since I am at it, but not needed at this time.

well u can look your self to see if they need to be replaced. the front one is easy to see the top one on the left side of the engine is also kind of accessable. the back one u will have to crawl to see.

replacements from the dealership are pretty expensive so u need to make sure that they are gone

oh btw these are the inserts. they are add ons. i would suggest that u get them if u replace ur mounts, while they are out atleast haha might as well do a cheap mod

Hey I really appreciate that. So where can I find the mounts and inserts? Because I need to ASAP. I am not driving my car until I do it. I am not sure if there is another problem with my car, but when I tap the gas, I feel that thing rock my car. It was acting real strange just as I came home. So I want to fix it since that is the real major issue at this point, and also to have my clutch replaced before the warranty is up. Because I refuse to pay for that crap again, and I really don't trust myself at this point to replace the clutch myself.

it sounds like the mounts are going from what u described. you could either go to a junkyard and kind some or spend 300 for some new ones

aahhhhh took me a while to find (the whole time weve been talking)
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=39891

Hey thanks, I really really appreciate your help and time here. So would you happen to know where I can get the new ones for $300 at? Is it a complete package or would I have to mix and match?

Let me clear some things up...

The engine has 4 motor mounts. Front, back, left and right. When someone tells you your motor mounts need to be replaced, they mean the front and rear ones. Those are the ones that wear out and will cause your motor to rock too much in the engine bay. When they do wear out, its just the rubber center that goes bad.

Now you have 2 options.
1. Get 2 brand new mounts from toyota for the front and back. They are actually not too expensive...around 100 bucks for both.
2. Instead of replacing the mounts, you could "upgrade" to polyurethane inserts. You can put them over your old damaged motor mounts and they will be stiffer then brand new oem mounts.

If you want to go with brand new OEM mounts for the front and rear, you can order them here for a good bit cheaper then your local dealer will charge you...

Or I am ordering those inserts! So anything else I will need other than those? Do I need to specify which ones or they are all the same?

Oh nevermind

actually. the front and rear mounts (the ones that actually wear out) arnt that expensive at all.

the rear is ~40-50$ iirc and tends to be the worse one.
i would replace that with an OEM peice, then do the front if needed, then if you want it stiffer go to the inserts.

Thanks Manny. I swear man........ I love this site! I dunno where I would be or how broke I would be, if it weren't for you guys. I tell everyone to join a site about their cars, and no one listens. I am so glad you guys are here and this site is here. I feel like this is Thanksgiving, because I am very Thankful.

I just ordered the mount inserts myself, $50 shipped. I'm used to driving RWD platforms with full polyurethane mounts so I'm not to worried about the possible vibration. lol. If they perform like some of the ones i have bought in the past, i definitely recommend them.

Yeah I just ordered mine too! biggrin.gif I hope they come in and I can get them in within the next two weeks. I really need that clutch looked at. It rubs in 1st and 2nd if I step on it a bit. Might be my transmission, but this same problem I have experienced before my clutch went out, which makes me just point the finger at the clutch. It felt like a new car when I had that thing replaced. I loved it, and was so much faster. Now? Only 3rd gear and above really pulls.

Well, from my experience with past cars, worn motor mounts tend to affect the "seat of your pants" dyno. Meaning that it feels like less torque because the engine is moving a lot causing the burst of power to be diminished. So your not loosing power just the car is absorbing the feeling of it. Does this even make since? tongue.gif lol. Its hard for me to put it into words i guess.

When you shift with your current clutch, does it slip? A clutch is supposed to last about 7-10 years minimum unless your speed shifting, double clutching, and just all around dogging it. How old is the clutch btw? are you sure who ever installed it before aligned it? Do you have the correct amount of transmission fluid in it?

Not sure about the fluid, it is only a year old (this new one). Slips in first and second. This is the same story on how it failed me near the end when I had to reline it in 5th just to get 65mph, and on the street reline in 3rd just to get 20mph. I am sure the mount are affecting it as well, which is why the guy who did the clutch won't touch it until those mounts are replaced. But I am not going to be charged $600 for that and doing it myself.
