I have a red gauge cluster as well, and I want a JDM tach too. That way I wouldn't need to get an external tach, because my fuel cutoff will be higher than 8,000 RPM.

I'm not really sure what you're saying, but for my engine that's in my car now, my redline is at 7,800, 8,000, or 8,200 RPM. It's different based on the year of the AE101 ECU. Anyway, it'd be nice to be able to see exactly what RPM I'm at when I'm above 8,000 RPM, and that can't be done on the stock tach, as it only goes to 8,000 RPM. What I'll probably end up doing is just getting one of these. It's an awesome shift light that displays your exact engine RPM. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

The design of the JDM/Euro tach? Also, did you use regular red type 194 bulbs, or did you use the type 194 LEDs? -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

i used the type 194 blue bulbs, they have different color but you wouldnt know difference if you werent in the car eveyday with green. im going to get the red instead, it stands out more even tho my scheme interior is going to be blue, i might change it later on

also, about the redline, for my st its 6200, that seems little low, is there a way to raise this, ie ecu or governor??

You could get an aftermarket ECU and raise your redline to something different, but the reason that the redline is at 6200 is so that you don't damage your engine by going over a higher RPM then what the engine is designed to handle. Reving higher than that on a stock engine will be bad for the engine. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Coomer, what u said is true, but the Celica ST after 1997 in Europe has a different ECU program that let the engine run till 7000 Rpms, so, since the engine is the same, 7k is safe for 7afe. Doogy can confirm this since he has that model of ECU

Oh, you're talking about the SW Performance shift light. Now I get it. Also, I've been to a few junkyards and haven't found anything. I've also had dibs on three sets of rear disk brakes, but they all fell through because people sold the whole car or just backed out. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

Its just that I got a whole JDM cluster out from a SSIII and just didn't know how to install it. I tried plug and play, needles didn't move and car wouldn't turn off. I wonder if I used my stock cluster and changed that gauges like John did without any mod to harness. Thanks for the info. -------------------- =( |

Yeah, OReO...im almost positive that if you take the JDM tach out of its circuitry and put it in the stock guage cluster (just swapping the tachs only) that it would work fine. From having mine apart so many times thats my best guess.
