First of all, thanks to everyone that voted in the polls and came up with ideas for the meet.

Here's the plan:

What-The NW 6gc meet for 2009

When-July 25th and 26th

Where-Astoria, OR. Camping at Fort Steven's State Park (just 20 minutes from Astoria)

Why-To hang out with some cool people, save some money by camping, and enjoy the city of Astoria.

Meet at: Astoria column (1500-2199 Coxcomb Dr. Astoria, Oregon 97103)

Meet time: 12pm. That should give most people enouph time to get there without having to wake up really early.

There is a $1 visitor fee to park at the Column, but I think it'll be well worth it.

We can hang out there, snap some pics of the cars, and check out the Column for a bit.

Who-
Attending:
1.JustinCapps
2.96bluevert
3.Jay(gen5coosthunder)
4.Enrique
5. Black94GT

Maybe:
1. ra65_22re
2. Rayneezy23
3. Legit94gt
4. Tin Foil
5. 95celicast
6.creis (no celica though)
7.bizzerk

What to bring:
-Celica of course (if you have one)
-tent
-sleeping bag
-camp stove and any other camping equipment you might want/need.
-camera, if you have one.
-two-way radio (so we can communicate easier while driving)
-food

Since we don't know for sure how many people will be there, I think we will have to do a first-come first-served basis as far as the campgrounds. Here is what we will do: Meet up in Astoria. Maybe hang out in Astoria for a little while, then head over to the campgrounds to get checked in and set up camp.

If anyone wants my cell # just in case something happens or you get lost for some reason, pm me!

I don't mind if you bring a keg...so long as you share wink.gif

The only thing would be that the minors amoungst us can't drink (sorry guys) b/c we will be in a state park and obviously it's illegal.

Looking at the website, it seems you can fish.

^^^ Yep, it's officially happening.

I think if we get two tents per campsite, it'll cut down the cost, cause it's less to add an additional vehicle to a site than take up a whole nother site. Remember to bring some cash for the sites everyone!

It's cool if other forums come, but make sure they arn't going to be dumb***es and get us all in trouble. I don't want to be kicked out of the state park b/c of a few troublemakers, plus that would just make Celica owners look bad.

But I already posted this on TSNW and probably will on PSTOC too. But I know the people on those forms are all down to earth and won't make any trouble smile.gif.

Ok, Since there arn't alot of places I could find that are good meeting spots, we will all meet up at the Astoria Column. It's a huge column on top of a hill overlooking Astoria and looks to be pretty cool.

So update:

Meet at: Astoria column (1500-2199 Coxcomb Dr. Astoria, Oregon 97103)

Meet time: 12pm. That should give most people enouph time to get there without having to wake up really early.

There is a $1 visitor fee to park at the Column, but I think it'll be well worth it.

We can hang out there, snap some pics of the cars, and check out the Column for a bit.

put me down on the maybe list. I'll see if I can make it. If the celica's not ready, I might have to bring the bike. Hope that's okay. wink.gif

If you think you can get all your camping gear on the bike and make it there, that's fine with me.

We probably should, especially since it's durring the summer time. But since there are only 10 definates for now, I could only reserve spots for those people. Would hate to reserve too many spots then find out some people couldn't make it.

I'll check if you have to pay a down payment first though to reserve.

edit: Looks like there's a $6 reservation fee. If I can find 3 or 4 sites next to each other, I will reserve them.

How do these sites look to everyone? http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/map_...OR&parkId=2

site #49, 51, and 54 are available for those two days and are right next to each other...I'm having trouble reserving right now, so I'll have to wait until Monday when I could call in.

They allow two cars per campsite, I figure we can get probably 2 tents per site.

They allow up to 8 people to stay at one site.

Just wanted to say that I was just down in Oregon going to Seaside and realized that Fort Stevens was only like 10 minutes away so we went to check it out and for those who havent been there it was really cool.
It looks like a great place to stay and have the meet, there's lots to see, lots to explore... You all will have a great time biggrin.gif

If you want a hand on the weekend sometime, I'ed be happy to help, Always wanted to swap a 3s in my celica but ended up passing on it.

Looking forward to the meet, I'm debating bringing my truck rather then the subi, can sleep in the back easy and there are some cool deep sand spots that would be sick to mob though since we've got it running pretty good. If I did take it would probalby take the subi too case it dies, its a wase from being reliable.

A truck would be good to pack everything in. But if it's that unreliable, I'd probably just bring the subie if you can get all you stuff to fit in there.

Haha that truck does look a bit sketchy, but it would kill on sand!

I need to bring this up to the Mrs. again.

I'm sorry, I have to back out for next weekend, I've got one of my girls staying with me for a few weeks and the last thing she's gonna be interested in is a celica meet... too bad too, it's supposed to be 100º next weekend and I'll probably be @ the coast anyway! Anyhow, my car is running HORRIBLE all of a sudden and I'm not so sure I'd want to drive it more than 20 miles from home anyway kindasad.gif

Sorry guys... I was looking forward to it!

We will... we'll probably be @ Tillamook anyway! It's supposed to be in the 80s @ the coast next weekend (PERFECT coast weather!)

Have a great time and take lots of pics!

Pretty much a bust. Got to the column and hung out there for a couple hours and no one wound up showing, so I ended up having my own little vacation walking around Astoria and cruising down to Portland yesterday. The thing that really sucks was paying $200 for a hotel room for the night b/c it was their last room left kindasad.gif.

I'll get some pics up from the column later.

Michelle and I were tossing around the idea of a Sushi meet, as this meet didn't work out too well. What do you think? I'm not sure how many people actually eat sushi, so it might just be a few of us, but at least it would be a nice photo op.

If you guys get something figured out that's not a 3 hour drive away, I'd be down for it.

There is a nice sushi bar in Tacoma - "Sushi Revolution". If that isn't too far for you (or more importantly those driving up from Oregon) we can go there. I can also scout Olympia for a good conveyer belt sushi bar since that is even more central than Tacoma.

I'll look into it and shoot you guys PM's this evening and we'll get some details ironed out.

Get it... Sushi... JDM, yo! laugh.gif

God I love sushi...

Matt sorry this was a bust, that really sucks. I was out in Estacada yesterday doing things to my car with various automotive fluids; anyhow, I have one of my girls visiting which was why I couldn't make it.

I wasn't aware PSTOC is having sushi meets. I did a quick search over there and didn't find anything, but it might be the same. This one is right off of I-5 on Tacoma Mall Blvd. I highly recommend it.
