so i went to a couple of my sponsors today on my day off. first i went to buddy club to check on a couple things to get an idea of what all i can get from them in the future for the build of the celica that will eventually be running in stage rally.

today i only got a new oil cap, radiator cap, and a muffler. since i am staying in the street stock class in rallyx, i am really limited in what i can do to the car. i am allowed a drop in air filter and a cat back exhaust, but thats it. i'll be putting the muffler on some time in the next month or so. i also checked on seats from buddy club, in which i should be picking up at least one in the next month or two.

next stop was at sparco. this is where i spent the big money today. i only spent $120 at buddy club, but the offer at sparco was too glad to pass up. i have been waiting to get a racing suit for future driving, but more for co driving this year. i was looking at getting the sprint suit, which is their entry level 2 layer suit. my contact there at sparco also checked some other suits and found me a suit that was replaced with a new suit this year, but is still good for regulation and is by far a nicer suit. its the x light suit and retailed for $1300, in which i was extremely hooked up and only had to pay $580 which included the tax. it was a no brainer to spend a little more for a far superior suit.

all i can say is that i feel very fortunate that i have such great companies helping me out on my journey to take my dream as far as i can.

i'm sorry sir, but you are not allowed to wear an aluminum foil suit on this fourm. Read the fourm guidelines.

the muffler is a buddy club pro spec universal muffler. its a 2.25 inch inlet and i think a 3.5 inch or 4 inch outlet. i had one on my srt-4 and i loved it. i was looking at a bunch of other mufflers for this car, but the price was right when i went in today. i will post up pics and video of the sound when i'm done. i'm debating if i should leave it alone or paint it black to match the car.

there isn't a whole lot of stuff from buddy club for the 6gc, but there are some cool universal products that i think some of you would like. i personally liked their grounding kit, which they call the "racing spec condenser". its a grounding system and a voltage stabilizer all in one unit. once again, i had one on my srt-4 and loved it.

the sparco suit is just amazing. i still can't believe that i got such a deal on it. i can't wait for the first time i get to use it, hopefully in the next couple months. when i tried on a couple, you really could tell which ones breathed better and this one was way better than the others. i wanted the silver because all the guys i talked to about them highly recommended that i stay away from dark colored ones since they seem to retain the most heat compared to the lighter color suits. i didn't want white because it would always look dirty, and silver goes well with the black helmet/gloves/shoes that i have.

as far as the car goes, i wasn't planning on spending much on this car, but it surprised me how well it does in the dirt and my teammate fell in love with it at the last competition (in which he took 3rd place and it was his first time even sitting in the car). so far in the first two events of the year, i took 3rd on its maiden rallyx and 2nd at the last one. after the last event my teammate asked why not turn it into a stage rally car. i had been thinking about it, and when he asked, i said why the hell not. basically i plan to run it in street stock for the rest of the rallyx season so we can keep up our points and then maybe later this year/early next year get it caged and ready for stage rally. when we do stage rally i plan on keeping things pretty much stock so we can stay in the production class. after the 2010 season and a little experience under our belts, then do an engine swap and move towards the unlimited class. still not 100% sure what engine i'll go with, may be a 3sgte, may be something from another auto maker, who knows. all i know is that i have plenty of time to figure that out.

gonna price out how much either a catback or axleback is tomorrow. still undecided about which to go with. if i went cat back, then i guess i would need to pick up a resonator. depending on cost, i may just go with axle back for now. i just don't want to lose what little torque this low powered 7afe with an automatic has. plus i don't want to spend much now since i'm saving for future plans for teh celica rally beater.........

oh, and here's a couple pics i took the other day

buddy club oil cap and the engine bay as of now

since the subaru rally guys have the rally pigs and i want to be cool like them, but don't want to jock their style, i haz pedobear on my side mirrors

the light switch panel i made for the rally lights

light bar repainted

the test skidplate that i made out of a clk 63 amg hood. i'm using this to test designs before i hack up a $100 sheet of 1/4" thick aluminum. so far, so good. no rubbing/hitting the wheels/tires/control arms while doing a couple good runs in the canyons. will be testing it out at this weekend's rallyx.

there were a bunch of them in the scrap metal pile up at the body shop at my work, so i asked the body shop foreman if it was ok to use one of the fubared hoods. he told me go for it, so it only cost me the price of the bolts to attach it under the car.

thanks, i feel like this car will do pretty well and my teammate loved it when he took 3rd place in it and it was his very first time even sitting in the car. so far its been good luck, its brought me 3rd and 2nd place finishes in the last two rallyx's, so we'll see how i do this weekend.

stopped by 247motoring today and picked up a few things. i wanted to get a sparco steering wheel, but seats are taking priority, so i picked up a NRG steering wheel and quick release after a friend had recommended them. i was able to get a pretty good deal on the set and a few other things. now i just need to stop by sparco and pick up a hub. can't wait to get this put in the car and ready for rallyx action.

yay! i made a DIY home depot lip! since i don't like spending money on parts that don't have much function or would get torn off at rallyx events, i went the cheap route instead of spending good money on ss III splitters. i used some plastic lawn edging and personally i kinda like how it turned out for a ghetto piece.

in order to get it to mount up , i trimmed these edges off for a flat surface. after that i bent it, used a little butane torch to hold the bend. all i had to do was punch holes and zip tie the material to the bumper and fenders.

not bad for $8 in lawn edging (which there was still enough left to make at least one more) and some zip ties. i just like how it stupid slant chin look of the stock bumper.

Well from the pictures, you'd almost think that it wad made for that bumper. Although, I am guessing it's just the pic quality lol. Nice work none the less. Gotta love the home depot for very cheap "aftermarket parts".

my steering wheel hub finally came in. got everything installed right after work tonight and its exactly how i wanted it. will take pics and maybe do a write up for anyone that wants to do a swap to a non OEM steering wheel (sparco/momo/nrg/etc). still need to figure out which wire supplies power to the horn and then figure out how to wire it up.

finally got another set of wheels yesterday and put them on today. got them for $125, but the tires are not that far from being done. also had the buddy club muffler installed. i was thinking of having new pipe run from the cat back, but i couldn't find a resonator cheap enough and just got lazy sourcing one. muffler guy only charged me $35 to put it on after hacking off the stock muffler. its louder for sure, but it doesn't have that retarded rattle like a lot of the cheap mufflers do. i will eventually end up painting it flat black so it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb.

also had to re-do the rally lights since i broke one up in the canyons. cut a corner close and there was a branch sticking out that shattered the glass on one of the lights. i figured that i have a bunch of projector housings laying around in my garage, so might as well see what i could do. haven't had the chance to test them out, so maybe this weekend.

saved some decent michelin pilot sports the other day from going to scrap. there were only 2, but i put them on the front. hopefully i can score 2 more and have a complete set. can't complain though since they were free.
