This weekend I replaced brakes and pads on my car.
I also adjusted the hand brake shoes as per instructions elsewhere on the forum (which is basically adjust until they shoes stop the wheel from turning and then 8 clicks back).
But now, when I disengage the hand brake, the light stays on... I would have imagined the hand brake light switch is on the hand brake handle itself, not on the brakes or on the hand brake cable.
Can someone tell me what is causing this? I never had this problem before until today.

you need brake fluid more than likely.
its not just a hand brake light, its the only brake light...

Brake fluid is filled to between the markers. After changing the brakes I bled the brake system completely and of course kept topping up during the bleeding process.
Is it possible that the system hasn't got under pressure properly yet?

I was just thinking... Is it possible that the connector got wet and made a short? reason for thinking this is when I pushed the calipers in, at some point there was some overflow of fluids, which I washed away with water. Could this cause the light to stay on? Would that mean that when it gets dry it should be ok?
