is it ok to remove it?

I did it on other celicas but this one it's bonnet is made of fibre glass and I'm not sure how well it will handle the increased heat exposure...

fnck yeah get rid of that sh!t

if your worried about it put some heat sheilding on the underside around the snail and you'll be fine.

1st thing i did when i got my Gt4 was remove that stuff and as for the temp i think it lets more out as that cover only covers up the mesh on the bonnet

meh get rid of it. rain will only hit the heatshield and who cares about that.

dont wash your car when the engine is hot though...that'l be a little too much fluid.
