new commuter mobile, i don't have the time or spare money for a fun car, but rest assured when i do, it will be a manual. the gts auto isnt so bad really, its triptronic with up/down shift buttons on the steering wheel and shifts pretty quickly.

I've done that. A little tricky, but possible. Hold drink en left hand, use left pinky and maybe ring finger on steering wheel cuz I've got power steering and all that jazz, hold burger with right index & middle finger and thumb, shift with bottom half of right fist. biggrin.gif

I've actually also done this. Soft drink, left hand, knees on the steering wheel, burger in the right hand, and shift with your right hand when you need to. It's really easy. I also change my music selection while the burger is in my mouth. =P

I've perfected the art of knee driving.

Nice Celica though. I really like the look of the 7'th gen. I see one everyday when I go to work. He / she has a 5 speed GT-S. Silver. It's nice.

I like it, its very soothing to drive actually. off lift above 2000 rpm its got way more power than the 7afe geo, but from a dead stop just stomping the pedal I think that the geo would take it for the first few feet. just does not have the instant off idle torque on tap.

speaking of the geo, i took it on a road trip to normal il for a weekend gathering of eclipse and galant folks. from a dead stop with a brake torque i took a diesel dually turbo cummins from the line to 35-40mph where it proceeded to blow past me and leave me in a cloud of black smoke. that was fun!

but back to the celi, cleaned the filthy maf, new plugs, aired tires to correct pressures, took it for a cruise to get the woman a bite to eat. i love to drive it! its great. easy and relaxing.

My brother has a 2001 GTS with leather, MT, and all the other goodies. I drove it a couple times. Once that VVI or VVTI kicks in, it really hauls A$$! You'll love it. I had to do quite a bit to my 96 Celica GT and he's still faster than me.

...you mean VVTL-i. If its the 1ZZ its a VVTi, if its the 2ZZ like in the GT-S 7th Gens, its a VVTL-i. Its bascially Toyotas refined version of VTEC. the "L" stands for "lift".

It's a rainbow man, they are cool to see.... Glad he is happy with is car, but to compare the newer celica to the old ones.... nah... Not to offend anyone, but lots of people agree the 7th gen is more suitable for a chick than a man. So in all fairness, since I have what he called an "Old crappy celica", I am allowed to tell this man his 7th gen is a total chick car. biggrin.gif

yep, chick car. don't care. it'll spank most stock 6th gens, probably even give a 5spd GT a good run, the auto's still put down 140 to the wheels stock. handles and brakes better too in stock trim.

but a well done 6th gen looks alot sexier than a 7th gen ever will, however i'm a function over form kind of guy.

Guess I'm a blazing idiot...7th gen Celica wheels are indeed cast, and I do indeed want the whole thing, one piece, non-separable...and the fail in that equation is?

You're an idiot. They're referred to as rims or wheels, even though wheels are more "correct." You know what I meant.

They're not any more "chicky" than 6GCs, and IDK why everyone rags on them. Is it just cuz a lot of you are 6GC fanboys?

Good luck with it.

bitter, my brother has a 2000 Celica GTS and it's nasty. All my work done to mine and I still can't take him off the line or top end and his is bone-stock and my celica is in excellent mechanical condition. His gts rides real nice and has one of the best engineered engines (as I have read in many mags). However, it is a real bitch to work on. Anyway, I'm actually a bit jealous!

His is on the right next to mine. He added a larger hood scoop and he had those graphics made custom.

All you need now is the TRD package spoiler/lip set and we got a car!

Kidding, these car's are awesome to drive and when your inside its really something no one would mind Nice seats, awesome dash, and digital gauges count me in. This car is still one of the top interiors to date, and exterior wise very good looking. F these fanboys who don't appreciate anything besides 6g's, you got yourself a good car man, and as a DD you get two thumbs up. But the auto brings down the second thumb by just a bit wink.gif

Edit: Look this is what I mean

not really, wow stock rotors are stock. and tires are big hunks of black rubber. the antenna is to make the car NOT look like a frickin RC car. the red letters are so its just a touch different than the other 2 or 3 black ones i see around.

look, theres the letters and antenna in one shot. not the current letters, current ones are reflective like road signs.

and there they are, but now you can't see the antenna. wowee

look, tire!

wee brakes!

wee brakes again!

we in the midwest have this thing called winter for about 6 to 8 months every year, i have the paint and materials, tools and know how, and even sometimes i have the time...but what i lack is the right weather. its been too cold for the paint to dry correctly! i'll do them (and do them right) when i put on the SS brake lines wink.gif

not sure what color to do...red might be too much since they're stockers...maybe a dark gray or black? i have red caliper paint from something else already.

you'll learn to dislike mice more if you own a GM with a 3.8 in it. They like to make nests under the plastic engine cover between the valve cover and the intake.

I used a really good camera angle and...

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/4...ech.html?cat=27

It's a pretty good wax, I grabbed it on 'clearance' at the local Big Lots. The rest of the car does not look good, but this wax really makes it 'pop' and hides a lot of the scratches. BUT it is very hard to get an even coat with one application, you really have to do the whole car 2-3 times to get it really even, otherwise you get darker spots and streaks which i have right now but I don't care, its just on to keep water/dust at bay. i'll give the whole car a good hand wash, clay, buff, and thorough waxing and snap a photo then.

Wait what? Drliling and cutting? Do go on.

you need to drill 2 holes to bolt into the rear inner frame of the back for the 3rd point of the brace, then cut the trunk plastics to fit around the bar (if you want to use them, I did). thats what takes the time and is the pain in the butt, the rest is easy just bolts, but getting the plate inside the rear channel is a bit of a pain and once its in you can only get one finger on it to hold it while you try to start a bolt to get it to hold itself into place and its a bit of a manuever when you're holding a flashlight in your mouth in the dark with 1/2 of your car in your friends garage because it rained tonight and not tomorrow laugh.gif

There are a bunch of 6GCs running around with 7GC GT-S wheels. Try your local craigslist, I know I saw a few for sale in my area when I was looking for tC wheels. None with tires though.
