For the money, just find a good used CT20B. Although for $1400 wasn't there a shop here running a GB on a complete aftermarket setup for around that price?

However.....

You need to find out WHY your turbine wheel came apart. Did something go through or come off your motor internally??? Was it just wheel failure??

Well the inlet side still spins good not even grindning and the bearing is smooth. Nothing came out the engine or from any where from what I can tell. I do not know what it looks like behind the exhaust well when a ct26 is working or what parts are there but I found a chunk of magnet looking rock chip about the size of a small grape is that a piece of ceramic? Its grey in color or is that what broke my ct26? When I seay the wheel is gone even the rod or what ever the wheel sets on is gone

The deal on the turbo kit on 6gc can some one tell me a little more info on it? Ther are many different turbos they have with the kit whick to get? I have a stock gt tranny so 300hp is the limit is guess but might get a new tranny in the future so Maybe if I get a bigger turbo anf just run low boost until 300hp and in the future be ablr to turn the boost up when I get my tranny. How reliable are these ems turbos and does anyone have one installed yet? I can swing enough for one of these turbos but for 300hp they say bolt on do I need somthing to control air fuelect with these kits? I read there bolt on an from what I get you dont need any type of aftermarket fuel controller correct me if I am wrong thanks

Will do tommorow I looked at it closer and it seems the stud or rod the 2 turbo wheels in an out well the stud is broke in the middle right before it hit the housing that why the inlet wheel spins good still in fact when I spin the inlet wheel I can feel the rub left on the exhaust side spinnining and I feel where it broke off. so I guess half the rod broke ff thats why the wheel is gone. I guess I snapped the rod but why I dont know could I be old?

I found a good deal on a garrett gt series turbo its a gt3582r A guy on mr2oc had 1 on a mr2 3sgte and made 350hp on 14lbs So I guess at 10-12lbs I can make 300hp then add more pressure when I get my tranny. What do I need for this turbo to work With a t3 adaptor plate how much room do you have with the turbo and adaptor bolt to the engine? So I need a adaptor plate, external wastegate, oil lines what else? Heres the link http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=348162

also where could I get a down pipe for this turbo?

NOOOO way too big of a turbo on your setup... gt3582r is supposed to be making upwards of 500+ horses... you will need huge injectors and a standalone to run that turbo... you will have terrible terrible spool lag without a full engine overhaul.... get the one that baktasht (sp?) is selling in the group buy... it is a borg warner turbo... same turbo porsche's run stock... it'll run forever and seems like they have been putting up some great numbers... you're looking at one of the bolt on kits... its bolt on... made for even stock injectors and everything....

Actually a GT3582 wont have that much lag. i have one on my 2ZZ and its smaller than a 3S or 5S. it spools fairly quicky. but a GT3076 will be a much better turbo to use

The GT3582 would actually be amazing! Remember too that if you get a Garrett one it will be a BB Turbo. Sure there would be a bit of lag, but you could make some serious top end power. Turbo lag is just dramatic anticipation of a guaranteed win. wink.gif

the 2zz spools up turbos very well due to the high compression (11:1 compared to 8.8 or 8.5:1 for 3s-gte engines).

What size exhaust housing is it, for example a .62 housing would be reasonable on a 3s or 2zz, but a .84 would make more power but be less streetable.

A 3582 is a big turbo, effectivly its a gt35 turbine and core with a gt40 compressor wheel and compressor housing.

my vote is a gt2860 (disco potato with a .64 rear housing) for a very very streetable turbo that'l make reasonable power, say full boost by 3k and capable of making 400+hp.

or the gt3076 again with .64 rear housing, good for more like 500 hp, expect to wait untill 3500-3700rpm for full boost

spool times vary depending many other things (eg cams, compression, engine health etc) thats just a rough guide.

a .60 front and .63 rear would be a good size snail for a 3s

Im in a similar situation. Im turbocharging my 5sfte and im looking at:
- GT3071 450hp or
- GT2871 400hp
both with .64 rear housing.

I still dont know what to decide on... It just determing spool times etc.. and how much they differentiate from a 3sgte. I mean +.2 capactiy but FE head.

Car will be used on W/E only with occasional circuit racing and will eventually be a BUILT ENGINE. & 3SGTE IS NOT AN OPTION.

Im leaning towards gt2871...

Yes its hard to decide you dont want to spend all that money and get the wrong one or not be completly happ with it. If the gt28 and gt30 both have .64 ar how different are the two? And compared to the gt32 I probaly will buy with the .63 ar. are they all basically the same because they have pretty much the same intake and exhaust size? And are you on a st or gt tranny and not a mr2 turbo tranny? Thats what I am worried about also like breaking ales an breaking my tranny. Will eventually get a e153 tranny but dont want 300+hp and be short lived because of somthing breaking. Any one know the difference in a gt2871 and the turbo I am looking at the gt3255e? Hey is your gt turbo ball bearing?

Im getting my turbo from a company called HyperGear over here in Australia. So while their not genuine GT series they are the equivalent to the specs just no Ball bearing.

The turbos a sleeve bearing and i can choose whether i want to run water and oil OR just oil. Im thinking just oil.

Like yourself, ill eventually switch to MR2 tranny but mean time ill stick with stock gt. I think ill go gt2871 because they already spool great on mr2oc.com guys cars + .2 capacity would be pretty good torque curve. But i dont know about upper rev range, eg. FE head. This is somehting i havent really researched yet but i cannot see the FE head being an extreme limitation. I want the car to make about 220-240FWKW which the GT2871 could make however, it would be on its upper limits, whereas GT3071 could make 280FWKW but means increase lag, etc... but thats just too much power.

As mentioned, the car will be used on weekends with some track time: stripped interior, full suspension setup etc...

I just think ill got GT2871 and if the time comes that i need more power then ill go GT3071...

yup. without a doubt an internally gated '28rs is gonna creep on a 5s.
the 3071 will spool faster than you would think.

the 5S-FTE should actually spool a little faster because of the torque the engine makes. the longer stroke of the 5S will help with the spool

i dont get this thread.
seriously.
you ask for help. people try and help, you do the totaly opposite anyway.
youve changed the title of the thread what, 4 times now?
again, i will suggest that you use the search button here, and on other 3sgte based sites, use google search, to do the proper research about things BEFORE you post, that way, when you DO post, it makes some kind of sense, and you can provide proper details about what it is that you want to do with your engine, so that you dont have to make 15 diffrent posts in a weeks time about basicly varitaions of the same topic.

im not trying to be rude here, just trying to keep board clutter to a minimum.
what im saying is that by doing a little bit of research BEFORE you post, you can often find the information your looking for without posting at all, as is the case with 99% of the posts youve made here.
not that posting is a bad thing, in fact quite the opposite is true.
however, you need to understand that alot of the stuff your seeking answers to have been covered MANY times here over the years, and you just need to look around abit to find it.
we were all noobs once, gotta learn this stuff somehow!

what i mean by asking for help and doing the opposite is, youve posted here about which turbo to get, what turbo does what, and how this or that turbo will spool.
once we gave you are opinions, you went ahead and bought a turbo that is terribly matched to a 3sgte, and with the large housings and small a/r are just going to spool slow, and make less power overall than a properly matched turbo to your goals and setup.

Ok I am getting mixed opinions on this turbo, Your the first to say not a good turbo. 2 members on here that was the only 2 to give me there opinion besides you said thats not a bad size turbo. Intake .60 ar & .63 ar exhaust. Also I am a member on mr2oc and many people on there aid its not a bad turbo. Sure It will have lag but will have a great top end, atleast thats what I got from the whole thing. Also I see a few people on the other site that run these even bigger. I figured the gt35 with .82ar was big so this was smaller and good enough for me. What rpm do you think I will hit full boost on the gt32? IIt should not be to bad as long as I hit full boost at 4000k I like top end better my car spins to much when launching so this turbo might even it out?

I installed the turbo but it wont boost past 6-7 lbs and boost is hard to build its very slow. I was thinking when my old turbo broke maybe it tropped a code or I am in low boost? I did not reset the ecu do you think thats the problem is reseting the ecu a must when changing a bad turbo? I might have bad hose going to the turbo to the acuator I will change the tommorow and reset the ecu by pulling the fuse. Also noticed the wastegate flap is not shut firmly its shut all the way but theres alittle play. Will this cause my problem also? It dont sound like the tubo is spooling up fast nor a big amount. Any help would be great thanks

sounds like your wastegate is stuck open, or you have a major boost leak.

It's also always a good idea to reset your ECU anytime you change anything major. That being said the ECU only keeps you in low boost mode until the next time you turn on your car - Presure2 is most likely correct. Reset your ECU and check for leaks everywhere.

no boost leak I tested that for about 3 hours sunday and found none. I mad sure I had all new high quality clamps and couplers and have as less connections with couplers as possilbele most of the pipeing is welded together or is solid pipe with out many couplers used. When I installed the new turbo to my old acuator the flap seemed to be a little loose maybe the flap is the problem

Ok today I checked out some things and ran into a big problem. I changed the turbo hoses. I checked the flapper on the wastgate its loose by about a 1/16th of a inch mabe the boost is leaking out. And the exhaust wheel may be in my cat. Will check that tommorow. Now the big problem is when I started the car to day I have a bad rattle/grinding sound from the engines top I think not sure though it was not like that when the turbo went out it just happened. I am hoping it the exhaust whell rattleing in my exhaust piping I will find out soon. But is there a way for a part in the engine to break and go into my turbo breaking the exhaust wheel? And Why would I have a engine problem all of a sudden? I hope my engine is ok it never made this sound before. I tried to record it but the sound came out bad and could not hear it on my camera. Any ideas?

I had a CT20b go bad on me, Diagnosed as excessive shaft play, made a grind & whine sounds when given some throttle, gave little more than 0.5psi boost pressure. Idled fine though. Went through Toyota to do the diagnosis/repair, ended up costing a mint and they had a rebuilt ct26 put in. I ****en hate it, recently the rebuilt ct26 turbo started going past the engine's normal 14psi (0.9bar) mark and has been hitting the fuel cut at 18 psi (1.2bar)... this things are **** ass crap I was suggested to go with Garrett GT2876R, By time Toyota had "diagnosed the problem" I incurred a hefty labour fee and figured I might aswell just go ahead with their repair and that would save me on ECU/dyno/tuning. I got ****ed in the ass royally by Toyota and am keen on the Garrett some time down the track.

Well, what is the best turbo for the 7A-FE? And where does the fun begin with it? 3k rpm? 2,k rpm?

I was offered a turbo called Garret T3. Is that a good one? (Or is T3 the flange or something?)

your turbo is working fine then by the sounds of it.....your waste gate on the other hand sounds like it could use some TLC
