This hasn't happened to me at all but it sounds like it's something with the cookies the site is placing on your browser. Have any of you tried deleting your cookies and then restarting the browser? Does that resolve it?

If Coomer sees this thread it will help him to diagnose the problem if the posters having the issue post what browser and OS they're using, and if deleting their cookies (NOTE - NOT CACHE but COOKIES) and restarting the browser (in THAT ORDER) helped even if temporarily.

I'm on firefox in XP and having the same issue... its not centralized to any one location, it "forbids me" from everything... PM's, posts, whatever. Hopefully I don't have to type this again...

Okay well I finally just got my first (and 2nd) Forbidden error. While on the same page displaying the 404 error I did a hard refresh (shift+reload) and the page I was trying to access came up.

Oh yeah - Firefox 3.0.11 on Mac OS 10.5.7

I've been getting both errors more and more frequently recently. Especially the "Forbidden" one. Several times a day for the forbidden one as opposed to random instances of the driver error.

The other day it was really bad, it seemed like every other thread I clicked on gave that error. Seems like it comes and goes....one day it'll be fine, then another day it's non stop errors. Hope it can be fixed soon.

Me too... I rarely get emails when I have PMs and I NEVER get emails for topics I've subscribed to any more. Kind of a bummer.

sorry, guys.
i try to do my best to keep things running smooth on the outside, but i have no control over the things that make this site actually work.
it sucks for me to say, but it seems like chris has sorta abandoned this site, which totally blows for the rest of us that still enjoy and frequent this community that he started 7+ years ago.
we could easily keep this site alive and self sufficent if he would take the time to implement a few small changes that we have been asking for the past couple of years, to no avail, and its sad, because it slows the progress of this community to a crawl.
we have been trying to get him to implement a vendors section for a couple years now, to help with site costs, and to allow for some new features ect, but he always ends up flaking out on us, and not comming around for months at a time.
other than trying to alert him to the problems with the site, suggesting solutions, and sitting here on my thumbs waiting for his return, theres not much i can do.

I don't browse the site near as much as I used to, but I've never seen this... I thought maybe it had something to do with me using a Mac rather than a PC, or Mozilla rather than Explorer. But I saw that Griffgirl posted in here that she's been seeing this, and I know she uses a Mac, and Celicast_Cali said he's using Mozilla too. The only problem I've been having is no emails for PM. Not meaning to argue or anything, but just b/c someone is signed into a site, doesn't nesseasarily mean they are actually online at that time. I've been signed into 6gc in the morning, checked in periodically throughout the day, then signed out finally later that night.

I think his interest in this site has dwindled down quite a bit and I do believe he keeps fairly buisy with work and such, just wish there was an esier way to get ahold of him other than PM's.

96bluevert, after 30 minutes of inactivity it'll show you as offline whether you sign out or not. Myspace and Facebook both work the same way, probably different lengths of time though.

And lastly, does anyone have any solid experience in web design and such? These types of forums are easy for the most part to maintain, all the code is generic and laid out easy for the administrator, everything labeled and clear. They are made for just some basic manipulation to get the site just right, for everything else, the people are what make it happen.

I have done some web design in my short life, hopefully some other people on here have more than me?!

To those who know Coomer on a personal level, do you think he would be wanting to sell this site for profit? Or would he allow someone with interest in the 6gc scene to take it over?


Or does anyone think he'd be at least willing to give someone with experience access to the server side of the site?

this is kind of starting to remind me of the celica.net days, where the members of the site got fed up with the owner, walked away, and started a new site on their own leaving the old one empy and abandoned.

i cant blame chris for not being an active poster on the site. we all move on. some sooner than others, but its one thing loose interest on a personal level, and its another to just not care about the sites problems or whats going on. i would be fine with him not being active on the site if he always stepped in and fixed what needs to be fixed. sadly that dont happen anymore.

hes probably going to come in here sooner or later saying some bs about how super busy he is, and how things will be different, and then we wont see him again for another year.

x2. I began to hate my Celica a while back because of all the trouble it's given me. But I keep coming back to it rather than selling it because of this site. There's so much knowledge here, so many helpful people, if you aren't an idiot about everything and you care to just ask. If this site ever went down, I'd be on my own as far as my car goes. I only know one other guy with a Celica, and he doesn't care about it at all. It's nothing but a commuter car to the coal mines for him. It's falling apart in every way. I'm wanting to invest some money in my car before too long and replace virtually everything, and I want to do that with the help of 6gc. Otherwise, I doubt if I'll ever be able to do a lot of the work, and I'll have to spend my money on another car, which would soon be in the same condition as my Celica, with 160,000 miles and typical wear and tear, so I'd be throwing my money away. I really hope somebody figures out some way to keep this site going.
