right, after looking at another car forum (not a celica) I felt that our info or sticky threads were not uptodate or messy. What we have is great (dont get me wrong) but it can be better. also it might cut down on repetitive threads and questions, it'll allow you to quicky find info you need without waiting for people to answer your question.

examples
6G Celicas Forums > 6th Generation Celica > Engine/Transmission/Maintenance
Transmissions
7A-FE
-tech info
-maintance
-performance (intake and exhaust etc + link to FI thread for 7A-FE+T)
5S-FE
-tech info
-maintance
-performance
3S-GE
3SGE BEAMS etc...
Feasible and Non-Feasible Engine Swaps
auto to manual
le-loom
useful links
etc... ... ...

just an idea though. what do you all think?

ya i think thats a great Idea Rusty. there just about 50 threads on cold air intake. upp nothing else stands out as far as too many repetitave threads goes.
Also whenever you try to search for something you can never get your exact answer, even when you type the topic of the thread word for word in the search bar.

lets wait and see wat the mods say...

well the more involvement from people across the board (eg people who know alot about the 7A) the faster and easier it wil be for people. (we'll have less/no more CAI for my celica thread)

some of it may have to be done by mods (rewritting the stickied sticky thread)

I'll do more sticky examples if people want?

I do agree that this would help a lot and is much needed, i think there was a thread about it a few months ago?! There are quite a few dead links and it could use a little organizing along with some stickying of awesome posts that never got stickied.

I do understand that the Mods are the only ones who can do this though and they do have a life, lol ... its not that big of a deal though.

IMO it would be much cleaner and easily accessible for noobs and everybody if all the stickyied things were linked to by the how-to section on the 6gc home page, but i think only Coomer can do that.

you know, if one of you guys wanted to step up, and help out the site, you could actually create the stickys in the format you suggested, (they just wouldnt be a "sticky" till a mod sticks it) and just link me or one of the other mods to it, and we could kill the old sticky, and put yours up.
chris had been working on a way for the mods to reward members who do exactly this type of stuff, by giving you more pics in your profile.
what the status of that is, im not sure, but i would appreciate the work if you guys want to take it on.

Id be down to help out, repay my debt so to say wink.gif..My question is,do we have to preform the sticky?Say the gt-4 front end swap, can we take all the pictures and info off azains thread and use them(with his permission of course)?

Another idea i had that i think would improve the site is to add a build forum,i know right now is not the best time but what does everyone think of a sub-forum off of the FI sections JUST for build threads?

No, I'd want you guys to use the same format it's in now, with the links. Just in a better order.
Christian also set up a file hosting setup for us to use to store important info, like the bgb's and stuff Which we will be implementing here soon as time allows.

hmm more pics in my profile sounds good to me!

ok so any of the current stickies that are up right now, you pretty much want us to organize them, by puting the information in one post.

Well so far only celica st_cali and rusty are the only ones who have been responding to this thread. Hey presure 2, how about if rusty or celicast cali sends you a sticky of the same topic that i sent you. for example like lets say two of us send you a sticky of sway bars.. will you choose the sticky that is best organized and set up??

I think we're looking or a new 'stickies' topic, that has all the stickies linked in it, but organised better... Like how Rusty has it at the top.....

Then we can sticky the new topic and delete the old ones.....

the topics contained within the stickys remain open, active topics.
the sticky itself gets locked, to keep the stickys clear of clutter.

right I've pretty much finished, done: general, NA/motor, suspension, exterior, interior, multimedia doesn't need one as its got "The Official Sticky thread" (which covers pic, engine shots, interior, rolling, red...) Not much in FI thread just a reorder maybe, and I have some good info which might help

Just dont post in them please biggrin.gif

right just an update. not much has happen. been quite sick recently and busy with work aswell. and does take time with fiddling around which do take time. so always respect to the mods for the time they do put in.

im making my way through the other topics, however since I own 1 celica I missed info for other different types of celica's which are important for them, so I'm going through them again, however when the new topics are up, if I have missed some info which could be important to you, please PM me.

thanks

also does anyone know the group photobucket account (just so I can add it to the bottom of the stickied thread, in future when people do threads which will be stickied, just so we dont have picture losted articles)

also later on I'm going to need pictures of all celica engines in stock form. biggrin.gif

Not that anyone cares about 4ag info anyway but I figured since we are on

which one? batmans?? umm you can leave that up for the mean time, and just sticky & lock mine. In future I want to add the wiring diagrams and pin outs etc but that can wait (If I remember right there are some in the general discussion section)

oh yea one other thing a few threads pictures weren't working, so I made a note next to the thread, so if someone can update or fix them, it'll help

for when you make a new topic/ thread and you have the input box where all your text and pictures would go, is there any way you guys could make it so that we can either choose from the simple way that we have it right now or an html editor? I like the way is it now, but I know how to do web design and I believe that some of the threads could be more organized that way (if people know how to code a website). Especially within the "Buying/ Selling" section because some people are selling a ton of stuff (like me) and it's kind of difficult to keep it well organized. I would think there is a way to make it possible, but I'm not exactly sure how you have the whole site setup though.

Just letting you guys know about the recent updates...
  • added the 4A info and a couple of other threads in the NA/maintance thread
  • flush fitment in suspension
  • european dealers option & gt4 hood latch in exterior
  • fixed up some spelling mistakes in a few of them and added "Check this thread for great information first." under the titles

hoping to do some more work this weekend. Its great to see people making a how to install... and information threads. I keep tabs on them and when I get a chance i add them

haha he has yet to reply to my message i just check my inbox on pedal room and still no luck!! what state does he live in? someone needs to go to his house and talk to him personally or better yet heres an idea:

why dont we all pitch in a some of money and buy him some sort of accessory for his bike, or maybe we can get in contact with his gf (if he has one) or with a family member and send him a gift through ups and have it shipped with his house and we can all send him a crap load of letters to his house from members all over 6gc community with reasons stating why he needs to give up his admin use to Rusty

The Big sticky thread is up (as usual please don't post in it) is now finished (for now) so it can be locked, there are a couple of the other sticky threads which aren't locked so can these be locked also.

If people want stuff added, which isn't in any of the sticky threads, just leave a message & link here.

thanks

Hey guys thought I'd let everyone know about the sticky threads on how to get them or your stickied.

saying "this is great and should be stickied" in a thread is all great, however there is a chance of me or the mods missing it, so if you do want a thread stickied either post a link up here, pm me or another mod (which I have said before kindasad.gif ) Just have to remember I'm not a mod so I dont have the special powers to unlock the stickies whenever I want.

also want to say thanks to MeMoe & stephen_lee for pm'ing me. The recently maintance on the stickies have been done so those links are fixed and threads are added smile.gif

Recent updates completed on the stickies.

Minor things tidy up on them.

Relinked specific topics part database to the main one/our current 'basic list'

threads added:
njccmd2002's thread "how to: Upgrade GT brakes at a reasonable price even ST, Bolt on Caliper upgrade."

also had 4-eyed-freek 's topic "suspension changes..pros. and cons" merged into here > Handling Write-Up, Suspension Tuning, Aerodynamics and other blurbs. So its all in one easy to read place thumbsup.gif

chacha's thread "How-to-install accent park light bulb in JDM Projectors, bulb type sockets and the right one to choose for a better FIT!"

lagos's "6th gen Collision Manual"

SupraKid's "HOW TO:Remove entire interior/install aftermarket amplifier"

as far as I know thats all of them for now

anything else please add here smile.gif
