Why does USDM get the weak Imports???, EDM & JDM specs OWN USDM specs. WHY!!! Options

I'm sure this question has been asked before but it must have been before I joined this community.

Why does US get slower cars and why do we lack the options that JDM & EDM cars get? From body kit options to style headlights, tail light. Interior options...etc. The speedos for the US specs go higher than the 180km/s speedos for the JDM and yet the US spec are slower. Why did Toyota drop the all trac before the 6th gen came out? We had the all trac on the 5th gen. I mean for god sakes we are driving Toyota Camrys & Corollas that look like Celicas. Even some of the US brands that sell their cars in Europe have better performance and looks. This applies to all JDM car brands.

First politics has to do with domestic manufacturers securing stronghold on car market for all vehicles under 30,000 dollars. By capitalizing on things like heritage they are selling mustangs etc like hot potatoes.

Second politics has to do with domestic manufacturers lobbying for "stronger import regulations" meaning that import car manufacturers are either forced to avoid usa altogether or agree to meet usa regulations (hence many japanese cars get final assembly in california based plants that produce sad sad engines)

Lastly we have to consider politics of making money. If it is too hard to earn money then manufacturers are either making shortcuts or going elsewhere.

When it comes down to it... "the house always wins". American manufacturers are producing cars with questionable quality, questionable safety innovations, often gas inefficient and polluting but because of how american laws work... greener grass does stay on the other side. One can speculate that hundreds of other countries know a thing or two about making great cars... but it is kinda sad that import cars are lobbied against and more importantly people here often have no idea what else is out there. If you don't believe me... just walk around and ask people if they ever heard of cars like citroen, opel etc for example

The Alltrac didn't die out either. It continued on in other countries. But as Manny pointed out in another thread, there were only around 80 Alltracs sold in the U.S. in 1993. It was a waste of Toyota's time if people weren't even interested in the car.

The last year the alltracs were sold they didn't sell too many reason why was because during the 90's SUV's were all the craze and a 30k sports car weren't too appealing plus its priced pretty close to a 93+ Supra TT I mean if u could buy a alltrac or supra for around 30k+ msrp new what would u choose ?? If the 6th gen gt4 was release now (up-to-date-specs wit evos/sti's) you would see them more then evo's and sti's I bet....lol

I cant agree more. One of the best things about the celica is that its styling still looks up to date (with the gt4 front and projectors that is). I wish toyota would make a ford style move and sell the 6g again...
