Welcome to forums. What exactly were you researching for a month? Be sure to read through stickies on this site, faq section on this site, search utility on this site and the following keyboard in google: "import gt4 into usa". Doing any of those and or a combination of more than one will explain you everything in greatest of details.

If you are looking to swap a GEN3 3sgte into your CURRENT celica, and covert the exterior to a GT4 exterior....I have a black GT4 front half cut/clip for sale with 50K original miles on it......It even has the rear AWD parts.

I was mainly researcing the 3sgte swap. What tranny would fit directly ive been told the MR2 LSD will work fine and then i heard from ATS Racing from Tx that it wont work and that id need a v6 Camry tranny.

If you have a GT 5-speed, you can use that transmission, with a stronger clutch. But you should replace the clutch on whatever transmission you get. The MR2 tranny also came on some Camry's, so both sources are correct. The transmission is an e153. The only catch with the e153 is that you will need to make some axles yourself. You will need the inner axle from an MR2 to bolt up to the tranny, and outer axles from a 5th gen Celica Alltrac to bolt up to the Celica hub. But you will also need to get some spacers machined for those axles, because they aren't quite long enough. _Jim_ that posted right above you has a very detailed thread on everything that you will need.

So I can use my stock tranny, upgrade my clutch to like a stage 3, and it will work just fine and not break? If that's the case I'd rather do that. That seems easier and I can do all that myself.

Yes, you can do that. Assuming you have a GT. But you'll be shifting a lot. The e153 has longer gears than the stock GT tranny and uses the 3S-GTE's power much better. Although you can use the GT tranny, it's better to upgrade to the e153 at some point. As for the clutch, you'll have to mix and match. It's not just a straight s54 clutch. You need some parts to work with the GT tranny and some parts to work with the 3S-GTE.

Edit: Jim's swap thread. That has all the information you need.
