Just as it states. I really need your help guys and gals, especially those local to Cali/AZ. I need a new front bumper(Idc on the color), driver side fender, and I dont know if I need just the glass from the drivers side lowbeam( I might be able to fix it, but I dunno) or the drivers side low beam.
I was sitting at the exit to leave the gas station when a guy(I'm holding in all the colorful language, but trust me its hard) was pulling in(the entrance has room for about 4 cars to fit). I learned to just sit even if you see a blinker because sometimes ppl just leave them on, so I sat. He ran right into my front end. I was in the far right lane waiting to turn right, he was coming in from my left. I attempted to get out to check the damage, but the door wouldn't really open because the fender was blocking it. As I struggled to get out, the guy put it into reverse and bailed. I tried catching up to him, but by the time I got all back in the proper mindframe and not pure rage/confusion, he was gone. I decided to drive it home and then get out of the passenger side because the gas station is only a quarter mile or so from the house. I will post up pics. This isn't a WTB thread, that will come up when I get back soon, along with the pics. Just figured I'd throw a heads up on parts I need in the mean time while I cool off a bit. If you have my number, txt me, or if you know someone who has the parts I need for cheap or reasonable price that I can get the parts quick, pm me or txt me. Here goes, it doesn't look that bad, but it still makes me sick to my stomach..... Figured out, its the lowbeam, front bumper, fender, and then the supports to my radiator and random other supports and stuff like that are crunched up, can't tell too much from these pics but its what I have atm from my cell phone. ![]() ![]() And as she sits now.... ![]() ![]() Just to think, earlier today she looked like this.... ![]() This post has been edited by dabazied: Dec 8, 2009 - 11:21 PM -------------------- |

I want you to do me a favor. Grab a piece of pen and paper and write down everything you remembered about the accident. Remember tiny details such as what color the car was, make, model, possibly a couple numbers off license plate. Were there cameras on intersection etc etc. If you wish to pursue this person... penalties could be really steep for hit and run.

You know what this is about? Escalation. He hit your car, did some damage. I say you take it to the next level. Burn his house down!
All inappropriateness aside, that really sucks, man. Do what Yarik suggested, and write everything down before you forget. Maybe the cops won't do anything about it; maybe they will. If they happen to see this old beater car sitting around at Wal-Mart next week matching the description you gave them with some red paint that doesn't belong on it, it seems pretty suspicious. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. I'm so sorry to hear about your car. It's a huge concern of mine, too. Today someone almost rear ended me at about 45mph. If he didn't swirve out of the way into the turning lane, that would have been it. Sad thing is, I was just sitting there at a red light.. I didn't suddenly stop or anything.
How is your insurance? Will this be covered, or will this be on your hands and your hands only. I agree with what was posted above. Remember all you can and report it to the police. -------------------- ![]() |

Thats definitely a kick in the... groin. It might be a while before I'm back from Iraq, but I bought a set of projectors for my GT. Once I get 'em on, if you still need my USDM one, I'll send it out to you. I also won't charge cause I know how much it sucks. My first car was totaled by a hit and run when I wasn't even in the car. There's a kid relatively local to me (who's a member on here but isn't on much) who's got a bumper for cheap. Real cheap. I'm more than happy to be the go-between and make it happen for you if you're willing to have it shipped. I can't imagine the whole thing costing more than $100 shipped. I can use the UPS account at work, which w/the corporate discount, makes shipping much less than regular consumer rates. I have no idea what the size of the box would be, but it sure won't be heavy!
PM me if you're interested, and I can check and get an approximation on what shipping would run. As for the bumper itself, I think the kid only wanted like $40 for it. He just wants to get rid of it is all, it's in decent condition. Oh and it's silver, for the record -------------------- ![]() |

Thanks everybody for the replies and stuff. I remember a lot, it was a early to mid 90s thunderbird, teal, kind of a darker teal. I've actually got a good amount of his color on my fender, so matching it up wouldn't be that hard. License plate, not sure about, was def a cali tag with the cursive writing(not the old school block stuff) Other than that, there was nothing to remember except the driver and passenger's face. It was at the entrance of a gas station and he had just turned at the light to get on the street to take the side entrance, not sure about cameras. I figure replying this stuff here is easy as writing it down, plus I wont lose the piece of paper this way lol.......
I'm not worried about color Griff, I'll shoot you a PM, I just have to see if I can even afford that in the budget atm(gotta love the economy and scheister bosses who haven't paid out in over a month now lol). Thanks Derrick, hit me up. Lilgreenyota, thanks man, hit me up when you get back, but hopefully I'll have that part taken care of *fingers crossed* CastrolCelica, honestly, I'm a bit weary to bring it up to my insurance because a similar thing happened to my buddy, they still put the accident on his record, never found the guy, and his rates still went up(not skyrocket, but still, it's the principle of the thing, ya know?). Richee3, if I see this car around, trust me, Imma........ call the cops immediately like a responsible person would*cough*lil retribution first*cough* lol, jk on the coughing part, well maybe, I'll deal with that bridge when I come to it. I'm really wondering if anyone knows of where I could rent a grinder and some welding supplies for a day or if anyone local knows where I could borrow one, at least then I could get the fender back on track so that it will at least fit until I can get a new one and also fix those supports and mounts. Also, anyone know what the cost of just the lens would be for the headlight? Clear or stock, doesn't matter. I mite be able to do a temp fix on it so it's still usable until I can get another whole assembly(still have all the tabs which were all broken off, WHICH I just swapped in there because my old one had broken tabs). -------------------- |

My retribution would have been easy... his repairs would not.
Someone rear ended my freshly painted celica on a parking lot. There was a tape of it too but cops failed to find the car. I had it cornered by end of the day. Owner got a nasty surprise that probably cost 5 times more than my $300 repair bill. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

Picked up a black driver side fender today for CHEAP! lol..... I have the bumper reshaped, the only problem is there's some cracks, and also the part on the sides for where the bumper bolts to the fenders, both of those "tabs" are broken off. I'm not sure if that part is fixable or not, so I'm still in the market for a bumper, and a lens/whole headlight for the drivers side low beam. Definitely need either the lens, or the whole assembly, probably the latter because I've been tweaking with the housing and it's almost looking like a lost cause, but oh well.
Thanks again to everyone for the support in moral and help in other ways. -------------------- |

I'm still working on the car, lack of funds kinda set me back a bit. I'm still working on trying to get my old bumper strong enough to work for the moment so it will at least be semi drivable until I get another one. I'll get back to you on the light stuff, just waiting on some money to roll in.

zip ties.............man's greatest invention......ever........................EVER! Totally, that and duct tape.... silver sticky stuff that not even a nuclear disaster could destroy.... only problem is, the side tabs where it actually bolts into the fender it what I'm working on at the moment, and yeah, I can do flat surface fiberglassing, but this corner crap is starting to infuriate me, so I took off the mask and started to relax and got pretty calm lol..... But really, yeah, I'm workin on it all, it's just taking a bit because money hasn't come in like it was supposed to yet and then my first time doing real fiberglass work. I figure its sink or swim lol. -------------------- |

if it was me (since i don't care too much about appearance of my celica), i would just find zipties that match the color of my car, then drill holes in the bumper and fender, then zip tie the hell out of the thing. i love zip ties.

Hmmm.... Sounds like a good idea. Only issue is, is I'm going to have to get some industrial, high strength zips, I need it to be able to take a cross country trip probably soon. Maybe if I zip and cover with duct tape it'll work... Hmmmm, you just gave me an amazing idea

![]() ![]() Clear lenses are so much better and brighter, I'm thinking about busting out my other headlights after a bit lol ![]() I'll probably end up switching to projectors or fix the lens better on this one and then convert the others to clear after a while, just had to get it running and drivable for now And my roommate gave me a sweet little upgrade which I put in today(a mod you've seen at least once before, but still nifty) What might it be? ![]() Right there next to the clock, pretty little wired in radar detector(didn't have the main unit plugged in so it's not all lit up) -------------------- |

dood, i found a place down here that was selling real hid kits for $75 and i picked one up. so far so good and its a huge difference at night. nice thing is that my headlights aren't aimed up too high to where i'm blinding people. kit came with your choice of bulb (size and temp) and a ballast that is completely plug and play, no soldering or any of that. if and when you're ready to upgrade, i'll get you the info on them. car is looking a lot better than i had imagined when you were telling about it. hopefully things will go a little bit better for you.

Sweet, I'll have to jump on that Chris. I still need to trim a bit on the plexiglass to fit better, and then add some more fiberglass to the front bumper to strengthen the sides when I have some down time. I have the top bolted up, and the sides are just zip tied. It holds amazingly well, and the headlamp, I've gotta trim down the plexi a bit more and then I'm going to shape up a second piece to go around it so it will mold right into the housing just like the factory glass. I finally found a dremel tool, so that helped a lot. I had to bend the brackets back and reweld a few things, but so far so good. And I know it all will hold for now because I was heading down the 10 going my average speed and a little more(you know the speed Chris), and all was well. Also, a truck kicked up a rock and it hit that headlamp dead on, and there isn't even a scratch, I'm loving the plexiglass, stronger, I guess lighter, and only 3.50/sheet at my local home depot

Srry about your car man. Good luck fixing it!! ![]() Thanks bro...... And about the headlamp fittings, not plug and play. If you want them to take over where your existing headlamps are and make it look clean, it will take a decent amount of fab. The housings themselves can be used for some nifty little upgrades(worked it up in my head, and going to attempt it) as you will see what I have planned ;-P -------------------- |
