ok pepo this is the plann i just recently came into posession of a 2jz i bought off an aquaintance for $200 don t have a trani yet but engine starts and has been tested. ive been playing around with the idea of doing a 2jz swap but never really put much thought into it till nw. im going to do some homework on this but was wondering if any one had any ideas. 3sgte swap is going into the recent celica with the supra rear conversion but i have two others that hve just been sitting around (still running ) with 300,000 miles on them so instead of rebuilding engine like i was originaly gonna do this is the plann to swap my 2jz into one of these since there not being used right now so other than those that say it is not possible to do what are your thoughts on this as i will be doing this for relativley nothing since i have access to several shops that will do the work for free granted im there to do mst of it

So why don't you put your car up in your profile? And a 3S-GTE swap is absolutely the most commonly done swap here, just search for it and you'll get days upon days of threads and reading materials. of course ive done a swap on an st but its a bit more work than on a gt im gonna swap 3s into my st and later im thinking of swaping 2jz into my gt. if all goes well my st gets 2jz swap in a year that be koo i get engines pretty cheap so im pretty lucky an thanks for the compliments much apreciated ill be posting some picts of the front end im doing as well as maybe some new rear picts if i get any where decent Why not put the 3S-GTE into the GT since you have the correct tranny and motor mounts already, and swap the 2JZ into the ST (the one with the Supra tails)? So Supra tails and Supra engine, only makes sense. ![]() This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Dec 1, 2009 - 12:18 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Jeff's thread is the only detailed swap for an ST.. would love to see another one.. Good luck on the swaps man, especially the 2JZ because its written here that the 2JZ swap is not feasible.. maybe you can prove otherwise.. ![]() This post has been edited by SlvrCelica09: Dec 1, 2009 - 1:51 PM -------------------- THIS IS WHERE WE HOLD THEM!

yeah 3sgte is common and is going into my st. Im pretty positive i can do the 2jz swap but it will be a learning expeience which means possibly months of down time my st which is becoming one of my favorite cars i cant really do without at this point in time 3s is more feasable because ive done this before an should only take a couple days to maybe a week to get done at most assuming i dont have problems during install.

Man, I know the 2JZ is a virtually impossible swap into a Celica, but I know it's possible. All I'm saying is if you start, don't stop. Finish the swap. I wish you the very best of luck, and I hope you decide to drive it to Illinois after you get done.

Ah to be 16 again! It's a magical time in a young boys life where anything is possible! HAHA thats great...nice one listen here young lad, and take everything i am going to say into consideration. If you can put a full supra body kit on a celica, mold it, and make it look legit, then by all means do it. If you think your going to throw a 2jz into a FWD car, its not going to happen. its next to impossiable with our chasis, and making ANYTHING for the car would have to be custom fabricated. you would be better off building a whole custom frame for the car, then taking the body of celica and putting it onto it, even then the fire wall will have to be cut and fabbed in order to fit that huge tranny under there. if you are smart enough to think that you can do this, then you sir, are smart enough to click the search button. Everyone will say it's impossible. It can't be done. Maybe it can't. Maybe it can. I'm about to test fit a 1JZ into a Celica GT just to see how much room it takes up. Sure, the idea of fitting a longitudinally mounted straight-6 RWD into a car that takes a transverse mounted 4-cylinder FWD is ridiculous, but it's worth a shot. But really, dude, try it. And if you decide to write more about, please, i'm begging you please, learn how to write. I could only read half of anything you wrote because it was so mind-numbingly painful. Use some punctuation, maybe some capital letters occasionally. You're about to attempt the "impossible," punctuation is easy. And I'll let you know how much room the 1JZ takes up.

This swap is not impossible....any swap is possible...all it takes is just MONEY!!! Im talking about ALOT, ALOT of money, and if you dont have that, then dont consider the swap being done and running right.

why waste 20k into trying to fit a 2jz into a celica when you can go out and just buy a supra? seems pointless.
yea motor cost you 300 but if its done correctly, it will cost you close to 20k imo i would rather own a supra -------------------- ![]() I"M NOT A TOYOTA FAN, IM A FANATIC 1984 accord hatch 5 speed (T-Belt)-Junkyard 1991 VDUB jetta wolfsburg Ed. 5 speed (clutch)-junkyard 1988 Dodge Aries K (sold) 1969 Chevy El camino - Traded for celica 1991 Dodge Daytona-Traded for Celica 1988 Chevy Camaro-Work in Progress 1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 - For Sale 1995 Toyota Celica-Work in Progress |

It'll fit. .....once you cut the radiator support and bumper support and move them forward a handfull of inches....ohh and the firewall moved back a few as well.
By then, it won't look much like a celica anyway. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

After being on this site for a few years you tend to notice that this is the 999th post about someone who knows someone whos going to do a 2jz swap. Out of all the people who made these posts, none of them have ever did a single thing to make it happen. If a person is really going to tackle a project like that on, they should have a very clear understanding of whats involved and know that they are 110% on their own because its all uncharted territory. Still in planning stages eh? Engine still gonna be for sale? Planning on this is going to take a lot of time/thinking, but honestly, planning is only going to help so much until you get into the project..... I hope you the best of luck, what info/advice are you looking for specifically? A, you know you will have to extend out the front to the point of headache, where since you have a good skill for bodywork/fiberglass it would be an easier start to get the front part of a supra and weld that to the front, then you have the whole front end problem done, just make it look like a celica with some fiberglass if you'd like, then your next step is to figure out what your gonna do about the firewall back. Post up some specific questions. Most of the feedback you will get on here is going to be negative if you are asking about the swap in general(sorry to say, one of the downfalls, yes they are being realists for the most part, but constructive criticism and suggestions work a lot better, even if this is #1000). Just post up specific questions like, whats a decent tranny to use with this engine, what would be the best path to route a new rwd set up on your car(that one can get good responses because there are members who have done this, yet you will still get the posts about, oh its too much work/too much cost, just get another car), stuff like that might prove better results and what you're looking for.
Anyways, good luck bro and happy planning. Keep up all the good work. -------------------- |

I'm just curious.. I saw a Viper on your Myspace, so why would you want a 2JZ Celica? You've already got all the go-fast you need. I'm not telling you to NOT put a 2JZ in a Celica, I'm just curious why you are giving your Celica any attention when you've got a Viper.
By the way, I lol'd hard at some of the earlier posts.
