Sup folks? Just had a quick question. It's kind of an old topic that has been talked about before, but i can't seem to find that post so I'll just ask here.

Long story short; got a 5sfe celica that i need to readjust the speedo needle on. I tried setting it by RPM, as close to as i could remember, but whenever i blow by one of those police speedometer thingies on the side of the road, they clock me as being off by as much as 10mph. I suppose thats not a bad thing considering i have a lead foot anyway, and i know it will never be spot on, but what rpm are you guys running at at 65mph and so on? its a manual tranny. i noticed the discrepency after switching to ngk platinum plugs. currently it shows 3.5k at something like 80-85mph which i know is way off. only mod is short ram if that helps.

thanks.

No, it happened when you removed your needle when you installed your glow gauges like youre not supposed to do.

Generally speaking, in 3rd gear the rpm and speedo needles are identical. So cruise in 3rd and put the needle in the same spot as the rpm.

I used this chart when i was learning to single clutch rev match.

Toyota Celica 94-99 GT
__@1000_______ @2000_____@3000_____@4000_______@5000
1st 5.0mph_____10.0mph_____15.0mph_____20.0mph_____25.0mph
2nd 8.4mph _____16.7mph_____25.1mph_____33.5mph_____41.8mph
3rd 12.4mph_____24.8mph_____37.2mph_____49.6mph_____62.0mph
4th 16.0mph_____31.9mph_____47.9mph_____63.8mph_____79.8mph
5th 20.0mph _____40.0mph_____60.0mph_____80.0mph_____100mph

RPM-MPH
1st Gear_______2nd gear______3rd gear_______4th gear______5th gear
1000 5._______1000 8.4______1000 12.4_____1000 16.0_____1000 20.0
1500 7.5______1500 12.55____1500 18.6_____1500 23.95____1500 30
2000 10.0_____2000 16.7_____2000 24.8_____2000 31.9_____2000 40.0
2500 12.5_____2500 20.9_____2500 31_______2500 39.9_____2500 50
3000 15.0_____3000 25.1_____3000 37.2_____3000 47.9_____3000 60
3500 17.5_____3500 29.3_____3500 43.4_____3500 55.85____3500 70
4000 20.0_____4000 33.5_____4000 49.6_____4000 63.8_____4000 80
4500 22.5_____4500 37.65____4500 55.8_____4500 71.8_____4500 90
5000 25.0_____5000 41.8_____50006 2.0_____5000 79.8_____5000 100

i suggest you adjust your RPM/MPH using 5th gear, its easier to work with than decimals. i stopped calculating at 5k rpm cause the 5s isn't a high revving engine, so why bother... hope this helps.
