Hello! my name is Josh, and I am just about to get my license. I have been looking at the 6th gen celica for a while, and was thinking about this car as my first car. The only problem i have is finding a low mileage celica around my area which is San Diego. I love the whole look of a car, and if i ever start bringing in money, would like to do some subtle changes to it.

Welcome!
I, too, am 16 and bought my Celica completely stock 5-6 months ago. I knew absolutely nothing about cars when I bought it, but going through the guides on this site (located HERE), I've been able to do many modifications to my Celi. As Celica ST Cali said, definitely go through the craiglist adds lots. That's where I got mine from, for $3,000 with 130k on the ticker. If you have any questions feel free to pm me or ask questions around the side, just be sure to search first! When I got mine it had like 236K on it and I was 14 and all it needed was a trans and timeing belt and a little tlc. Sadly the kid who had it before treated it like crap and the $1400 trans rbuild turned into a $2000 new trans. Then in the $800 timing belt but the car was only $850 so I think it was worth it. -------------------- |

I got mine with something like 88k miles on it from the original owner who was a nearly 50 year old lady. All I can say is keep looking it took me nearly a year and in that time in nearly bought a 7gc.

Be patient and know exactly what you want...even if it means waiting longer.
I looked and looked for 2 years in my general area for a good condition 96+ Celica GT and could never find one for sale. Sure, plenty of 94/95 GT's or 94-99 ST's were available but knowing my plan was a 3S-GTE swap I knew a GT was a better bet and I wanted the post-facelift front end. Finally found my baby with 109k miles about 4 hours north of me for under KBB and fully loaded last March. Patience and persistence pay off. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

Just wait i bought my car for 4200 with 175,000 and wish i waited i even bought it on craigslist. Lately I've seen them for about 2000-3000 and have about 130,000

Because I love Chula -Uana so much (used to live in IB)...
77 GT 103k Miles......Because lets face it, we all want one. 94 GT 178k Miles 95 GT 131k Miles AW11 Had to put it in there, but hey its an SC! Sure its missing some stuff... 95 GT 137k Miles There are a few more, but got tired of copy and paste. Not a bad selection to choose from out there. But if you looking for miles, the third one down is the lowest. |

IMHO the mileage is one factor that should effect your purchase but also how the previous owner has taken care of the vehicle itself. You can have a car with less mileage but then again they owner could have driven the **** out of the car. On the other hand you can find a vehicle that has a lot of mileage, but the owner has taken care of the vehicle like it was their own baby. Agreed with Keiri. Take your time and make sure you check out everything about the vehicle. Ask the seller if they have an inspection done on the car already. This sweetens the deal for the seller as well lets you know whats up with the car.
GL with the first buy. My first car that I have ever owned was a 6th gen Celica and I LOVE IT. Peace!!! |
