Should I go AWD, RWD or just stay FWD? Just found a shop that would really do it for me. It is the same shop that converted this Mirage into a AWD platform EVO V . Before making any decision, I want to know whats everyone's thought on this idea!

Go AWD. 0Re0, I'm stunned that you found a good shop to do it for you. Congrats! I can't wait to see it.

if you want to go RWD do something really cool like put in a SR20det and s15 6spd tranny and the rear end parts from a 240 to make it RWD.

that would be amazing.

if not, go AWD.

Don't even need to do that... although that will work too... Get a st205 rear-end, diff (re-geared for RWD probably) and driveshaft, convert over, and run a Beams 3sge Altezza tranny (5 speed LSD, and i think 6 speed LSD)... that way you can use any toyota 'S' series motor or even a 1mzfe...;]

go rear wheel drive. It's too hard to launch a awd car. plus, your clutch will pay more if it's awd. RWD is the way to go.

are you on crack?

wtf would anyone put in a sr20 when theres the 3s

it would cost an insane amount to mount that engine

and rear wheel drive parts from a 240?

seriously what are you thinking?

OReO mate, Don't go RWD. If you want to do that get a supra.

My Vote is AWD or FWD.

I guess it depends on your goals. If your looking for a fast car go RWD. If your looking for a quick car go AWD

Andason, if you have the power to back it up (3S-GTE), the AWD dead-weight won't matter one bit.

no front engine rwd car has a differential in the tranny, so it would depend on the rear end you use if you end up with lsd or not.

jayi12-15psi,

i know its more expensive and a crazy idea but it is possible and would be an amazing sight.

it would probably cost as much as an AWD conversion but to have a rwd 6gc would be awesome and unique

the sr20det and 3sgte are both great engines and have the same potential.

yes, but you would have to use a takoma engine and drive train... or an AE-86 or something...

I guess you could always have somebody custom build a transmission for about eight grand though smile.gif

Everyone has good ideas, but I would go AWD.

1. Take off's are better with AWD.
2. If you're into drifting, ( I am) then you can drift with AWD or RWD. I would prefer the AWD. You have the ability to take off fast, and i believe there's a way to controll how much play your rear wheels and front wheels get on a AWD system. Besides, look at the skyline and evo7. They're both AWD and great driftin cars.
3.It's most likely gonna cost you a lot more money to make it RWD just because of the fact that there's gonna be a lot more work involved.

But hey, either one is good, just make sure you think it through

It's actually hard to launch a AWD car. There is a threat of bogging if you don't ride out the clutch, and if you do that, you will be changing out your clutch every year...
