why spend money on a flame throwing kit when you could get something really good and sunctional for you car? I am sure you could get lowering springs, or an intake for the same price as that kit.

Flamethrower kits are also dangerous and incredibly illegal. That said, you can cheaply make your own kit. I think all you need to do is run rich and use a spark plug near the rear of your exhaust that's hooked up to a button in order to ignite the un-burnt fuel in the exhaust system. Also, I've heard about setups using a propane tank as well, though I'm not sure exactly what you'd need to do that.

Either way, you run the risk of blowing up your exhaust or your whole car, lighting your car on fire, lighting other stuff on fire, getting a massive ticket, etc.

It's his car, if he likes it just follow my suit and tell him where he can find it. I personally think it would be cool. I am just too worried about the cobble-job it would probably cause and ruining my car to do it smile.gif

well now that i am back online. i just wanted to say that all i did was ask a question about the flame thrower kit and wanted to know if anyone had one of these on their car. i know it's expensive, or stupid and obviously it's dangerous and illegal. duh! but anyway i was just wondering if anyone had one that could give good imput about it. i realized it hasn't been talked about much on this board and i was hopping to get some good info instead of this usless information like i see here. Also i have bought a air intake (accually i made ram air system for 50 bucks) for those of you people that don't check out other peoples profiles.

Well thats what you get when you ask for "imput" on a public forum. What info are you going to get? "ya man they sure flame up good, and da ladies love em, you'll be the coolest ever, just like you were in fast n the furious".

Hello

You can buy one from ebay or off a profermance garage.
You have to have a fire hidrate in cass you car goes on fire but i've never heared that happening, they look cool.
But they only work good on tubros and cars that carry too much exhust fumes. They work everytime you change gear aswell. And there are 2 types. The flash and bang. And another one that silent but shoot out 3ft high.

You can get a kit for the flame thrower here http://www.autoloc.com/products/flame.lasso
The single exhaust setup is $125 but you still have to buy a spark plug and coil to make it work. It is probably the safest way to do flames if you really want them.

fuel injected cars require more than just that kit.

they need something to cut power to one of the cylinders.

using it would make the car shake and cause a CEL.

also, it may damage your muffler, depending on what kind you have.

it does look cool, on muscle cars, the ones where if you collected their exhaust and put it in my gas tank i would be able to drive for a few miles.

to have a nice and properly working setup you will need a 2 gallon fuel cell, an injector or mister, a pump, coil, and spark plug.

that is the right way to do it. no shaking, no CEL and you can position it all after the muffler to prevent damage.

I'd just use a propane tank, small spark plug, and run a kit similar to a nitrous set up,,, only going to the tail pipe.

ha, actually you could use a nitrous set up. Just fill the bottle with propane or butane or something!

Only thing I remember is that you also need to remove all catalytic converters in order to do the way that klets you brun excess fuel throughout the exhaust. Otherwise you do the isolated excess fuel tank kit, such as propane (not sure how much propane works though.

you will also need to introduce air in order for it to burn well.

My dad did this back in the 60's by putting a pipe that was larger than the exhaust overtop of the tips so air would be brought in and mounted a spark plug in that pipe. It was on a 427 or 454 running really rich. He said when you floored it there were one to two foot blue flamed out of the pipes at the back.
