Hey, so I was getting ready to show my car to a buyer and thought maybe I should test drive and all beforehand. After driving for a few mins, I pull out my SAFC2 and go through the categories. I go to car select and it asks the cylinder and its set at 4 and the Up arrow, but I accidentally changed it and it went to down and then the two stars, this is all while the car is at idle. When it changed to the down, the car started to bog down and the idle got rough, I immediately changed it back to Up and exit the screen back to the main menu.

I don't know if what happened after was the cause of my stupidity, but the car started to idle really rough and low to the point where it feels like its stalling, then the car stalled. When I restarted the car back up the idle was rough and low and felt like it was going to stall. I press on the gas and it would bog and then stall. I look at my boost gauge and there seems to be a vacuum leak or something because it's reading around 10, usually it's at 21. I look under the hood, and i smell fuel and see some fumes coming from around the IM area. I think its the fuel injector area and near the throttle body area as well. I am really not sure what the problem is. I now have a CEL and when i drive, i can hear a big vacuum leak, kinda sounds like im spooling and if i let go i hear either my wastegate or a psssh sound. Anyone have any idea what this can be? I am confused and really upset because I was just about to sell this and this happens.

Cliff: My car idles rough, low rpm idle, stalls at times when i press the gas, CEL is on, car sounds like a constant BOV or boost leak while driving. Couldn't find any vacuum leak anywhere.

It would help to know what engine you have and what modifications are done to your car. Is this a 5sfTe setup or what?
Did you check the ECU to see what the CEL code is about?

This is for a 5sfte, I haven't gotten a chance to get the code read. Autozone only had the obd2 scanner..i'm just hoping it's something easy like spark plugs since they were covered in carb the other day i checked them.

Who did the install?
Sounds like a problem with either the map sensor or the safc. Could be a wiring problem with the safc or maybe you cleared out your settings. Did you check the low/high throttle map to make sure there were negative corrections still there?

You don't need autozone to read the code of an obd1 car. You do it yourself with a paper clip in the diag box between te and e1, and then count the flashing cel light to read the code.

The swap was done by the previous owner and some members of this site like presure and batman along with some others..

The car was running perfect a few minutes before and didn't have any signs of problems.

Oh this is my first time dealing with obd1 CELs..so i would just stick a paper clip in te and e1 and count the number of flashes the CEL has? That's pretty easy..is there a code list somewhere to tell what it is from the number of flashes?

Issue is mostly likely the SAFC

It is very possible that you turned the corrections OFF. I did this once, basically the same way you did...just scrolling through the SAFC looking at the settings. I had very similar symtoms. Rough Idle, way rich, etc. I never stalled though, nor threw a code. Go to the corrections section and do as Art (Lagos) said....look for negative corrections.

Double check that for the "sensor" selection, the pressure is chosen. Anything else will not allow the car to run. You may have accidently switched settings.

Its actually fairly easy when messing with the SAFC scrolling threw, looking at settings to switch to a different sensor setting without realizing. Glad it was a quick fix.

Less posting and more time under the hood would help. There is only so much that people can recommend over the internet.
