I haven't noticed alot of coupes on here. I'm not as educated as most of you on here, so bare with me. Did they not make that many? Are they not as desirable?
I love mine and would love to know more about it.
Thanks

Southern Illinois for you right there. Makes it hard for me to want to go anywhere else sometimes. Nice picture! I got your PM about the Garden of the Gods meet, by the way. Then deleted all of my PM's and forgot to reply to that one kindasad.gif

There was a couple for sale in Marion a while back. I was tempted to pick it up, but didn't have the funds. It seems like coupes were sold everywhere but here.

vast majority of people on this site did not purchase their car new so they were not given a "choice" per say. Also coupes are so rare because their production numbers were quite limited in comparison to hatchback model so original owners did not have much choice in purchasing either.

I don't get why people act like there are NO parts for the coupe/vert!Thats bull honkey, hatchbacks have jdm tails, coupes have currens.Hatchbacks have raiser blocks, coupes have supra style.Hatches have TRDs,coupes have carbon fiber TRD tongue.gif.The only wings i can think of that the hatchs have that coupes really dont are the hiro and duckbill.I agree hatches have more rear lips than coupes(they have non) but they only have like 3 or 4!Celicas aren't cars that just anyone can mod,it takes time, love, and of course, money wink.gif

The money I totally understand. If my kid decides to get a different car instead of fixing his coupe (I can hear valves hitting pistons) I may have to tap into my savings and buy it back. I picked up another engine from Richee3 to fix it.
I would love to go with a really clean look when I redo mine and just go crazy on the other. I just wish one of them was a GT. Mine needs a fender and a front bumper but I have been holding off on that stuff untill I decide what to do. I really like all the options they have for these cars.

UPDATE: I have two again
Well, I'm buying back my kids busted ass car. I can't believe I'm taking it on when I don't even have time for my car. I just can't help myself though. I think in time I will be able to fix it and then I will just put mine away to finally do all the things I always wanted to do. At least he put new tires on it and a new stereo in it since he's had it.

Were the Coupes sold all over the world? or were they just USDM?
I don't recall ever seeing a coupe celica here in NZ, only hatches, and most of our celicas come from Japan. Closest I've seen to one over here are Currens, which are quite common.

I would trade one of my coupes for a Curren. I didn't even know what a Curren was untill I got on here

So what exactly attracts you guys to the "curren" look? When I see a curren photo I am quickly reminded of a nissan 240.

You're right actually .. That might be why lol, I reckon the Nissan 240/Silvia are nice looking cars, Curren is kind of similar so it's a nice looking car too.

Prefer a Celica though, obviosuly tongue.gif

Thanks guys for the compliments. smile.gif It was Coomer's car that originally inspired me to do what I did and since then have been fond of owning my 6gc. Currently i'm thinking about installing new components for the brake system but that will have to wait till im done with my deployment.

I think coupes were made up until '97 or '98. I don't really remember which. Either way, I've personally owned a '96.

see now i have to disagree with that. maybe u owned a late model 95 that was made at the end of the year so it transfered over to a 96. BUT.... if you go the the members ride section and u kno how u can look up cars by yr, model, style and tranny? well if you type in GT coupe for any year other then 94 or 95 you get like 4 or 5 hits for each yr "saying" they are coupes when they are actually hatchbacks. look it up and see, i mean i could b wrong but i dont think i am bc wouldnt u think with the number of memebers on this forum there would b a ton of coupes from "96-98" ? im not tryin to get cokcy or anything im just giving my opinion and reasoning lol

I'm not saying that my source is reliable or anything... It was definitely Wikipedia. But the coupe that I parted out was indeed a '96. Had the facelift bumper ('96+) and a title for a 1996 Toyota Celica coupe. Plus the member that posted earlier, 96ST206, had a '96 coupe with a Curren conversion.

Found the article. They made coupes until '96 and discontinued them an 1997. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/toyota/1970-2...ry-ar16094.html

By the way, you're never in chat anymore! Don't be afraid to show up once in a while and update us on your swap haha

Haha no worries. I was wrong too. I thought they made them until '98. And your status is the same as all the rest of us. But yeah, log into the chat sometime.
