ok have you ever had your door open with your keys in it and it just dings and ding and ding all day and it drives you crazy ?
if your answer is yes then i have a great job for you first to get rid of the ding with no car problems (i promise )

remove your fuse box under your steering wheel, then you will see a red box near your fuse pannel that little basterd is located in there you must get to it!!! ok start by taking off your ignition pannel and unplug the wire attached to it so u can throw it in the back seat.

ok first pannel out of the way, second pannel is held in by 4 bolts/screws 10 mm or screw driver( your choice)
after them 4 are off there are 2 screws holding the hood latch there so take them off. throw that pannel in the back seat keep all bolts in floor.

they're all the same, 3rd pannel has got 4 bolts, take it off then find the plug that goes into the red box. get it off and take off the red box without cuting any wires. once you have the red box in hand ( u need it dont take your anger out on the beep) yet! Open the box with a knife, there is a round black plastic thing (the beeper) on the micro chip, so take a knife stick it under, and pop it off carefuly.

then plug the wires back into the box, careful they control your head lights then pop the box back in, and put the panels back on.
go on to the road, take round black peice (beeper) cover in gas, and set that *%$#er on fire

thx guys need help with anything pm or text

I appreciate your efforts and the info is helpful, but could you please revise the paragraph with some structure? Reading it gives me a headache.

Your paragraphs ARE what you're saying - and when they're jammed together into one mass of poorly spelled and poorly punctuated garbage no one can understand.

By performing the steps you attempted to outline in that pile-of-disgrace-to-the-english-language-you-call-a-post you will not have an audible reminder to remove your keys from the ignition before you get out, making it easier for you to lock your keys in the car, which I think would be hilarious. Don't screw with the features in your car. They're there for a reason.

(see dangling little white plug) remove kick panel and/or the ignition key trim, remote white thing /done

you cant lock the celica when the keys are in the ignition and in ACC or lock position. i believe its in the manual too.

i agree that its a good feature to remind you that the keys are still in the ignition so you dont forget it in the car.

My girlfriend locked my keys in the ignition of my first Celica (95 ST), but it had manual locks/windows, so she was able to flip the lock and shut the door.

The beeping was going off while she did it, too.

she also locked my mom's 99 Legacy GT with the keys in the ignition..... and the car running.

We were only a few miles from home, so she stayed with the car while I went home to get keys. Maybe 20 minutes total? Sure taught her a lesson!

No one here is out to eradicate an entire race of people, so no, we're really NOT like a damn bunch of Nazis. We're just more or less in the real world, where we're trying so desperately to decipher what you're saying, but the amount of effort it takes to do so is just, well, unreasonable. All that sh1t your 9th grade English teacher taught you was TRUE. If you want to get along in the world, you have to be able to communicate effectively. This is the point I was making a few months ago in your FS post. Remember, that one, where you so eloquently and maturely told me to go fcuk myself? Yeah. That one. Funny how things come full circle, isn't it?

Not related to the post, but wrong - that white bit is what allows your power locks to flip themselves unlocked when you have your door open and the keys in the ignition. Trust me, I severed mine thinking it was for the ignition keyring, and I've locked my keys in my car three times since. Plus, my locks will stay locked when my door is open with the keys in, whereas before it wouldn't. So yeah.

In any case, it has nothing to do with beeping. Or maybe it serves a dual purpose, but my car still dings when the keys are in and the door is open...if I recall correctly.

As player points out there is a much easier way to to it...

Pull off the plastics to expose the ignition barrel and unscrew the white switch from underneath it, you'll notice it has a momentary push button on it which the barrel pushes against when the key is inserted.

Just let it hang loose, put the screws back so you don't lose them. Easy!

Can you make the sound go away but not the "stay unlocked" mechanism? I still want the "doors open" and "seatbelt not on" lights and the associated mechanisms (doors stay unlocked if key is in the ignition), but not the actual sound. Maybe there's a way to just unplug the speaker?

Just a thought, If you remove the speaker (as suggested in this thread) will that mean all those 'warning' noises will go away? Such as the noise when the headlights are left on? Or does that come from a different source?
It's just that yes, that 'key in - door open' noise does piss me off, but the headlight warning has saved me from a dead battery on a few occasions lol, so I wouldn't want to lose both.
