If I just replace the boot, what are the odds it will start clicking?

I would replace the whole axle but they are damn expensive here, $300 for a rebuilt axle after trade in (napa).

just go ahead and replace the boot, until you save for the axle, over here in the us are cheap.

i drove with my torn boot for almost 6 monthns, lots of grease to clean, but i did not hear them click at all.

it depends how much dirt got in, the length of time and the amount of kms you racked up since it's been in there. if it's not clicking yet, it's more likely still ok. just clean it thoroughly, apply new grease, and replace the boot.

btw, i have a new oem boot kit for sale if you need it. see my fs thread.

Depending on where it's torn, too, there's a clamp you can buy to put on the boot to clamp it shut. $3 fix until you get around to the axle. I've had a clamp on mine for like 2 years and have yet to have a problem. (watch, my cv joint is gonna break on my way home now LOL)

if you decide to repair, there are too different kind of tools for the bands you use, i had to buy both due to the boots i bought.

okay, a couple more questions.

Are the Napa axles known to be crappy? I broke both boots on it in only a couple thousand kilometres. Or am I just cornering too hard? And does anyone know if they have warrenty, I'm guessing it would if I had the receipt.

Are OEM boots the best quality ones?

Also, can I put an OEM boot on a Napa axle? For some reason my guy at Toyota thinks you can't.

The lower the car, the more the CV joints bend which will cause the boots to rip sooner. I'm not sure if the rubber material in OEM CV boots are of better quality but the rebuilt axles that I'm using now came with boots with more folds which reduces the stress in the material and allow for moar lowering.

thanks man, makes sense. I am lowered about 2.1" front and 0.9" rear. Turns out Napa is going to get me a new axle for free even though I lost the receipt, they just printed me out a new one haha. Hopefully this one lasts longer.
