I drive a 1994 celica GT, im considering doing an engine swap in it, but i don't know where to start and what I need. I know there are a few options, it seems as if the 3sgte swap is the most common. what about a v6? i want to do a swap but i dont want alot of headaches, what do you guys recommend and where should i start?

Thanks Ryan

If you don't want headaches...keep it stock. With anything, despite how the final outcome is, during a swap, there will be road blocks, and there will be headaches. Its unavoidable.

as much as you dislike headaches, you can learn sooooo much if you actually work through them. That is if they aren't just expensive part replacements. I did a 3S swap as a senior in high school and accomplished it using the knowledge and great members on this board. Its definitely possible and the 3S swap is fairly tried and true at this point, its easy to get it on the road and running as long as you start with a good engine set.

If you want to avoid headaches, stick with simple mods for now. Once you have funds accumulated, time and space for the swap, then you should go for it. Until then study up and figure out what kind of goals you're going for.
Example... What kind of Hp/Torque are you looking to obtain? How much do you want to spend? Can you devote time and money to accomplish your goal? And like they have said, headaches are normal due to complications. Just be patient and before you know it you'll be on your way to show off your swap on here.

Some options you can go for are: 3sge, 3sgte, 4age, 1mzfe(v6)
Or... If you want to use the 5sfe you can turbo and still get decent power.

If you have troubles finding info look through some swap threads, there's plenty of them.
Good Luck and Post your swap thread! tongue.gif
