any one who went swap...did you just custom make your or did you find an after market one?...
if you made one....what type of steel did you use and how much did the shop charge you to weld if you went a shop? compatibility of the 3" b-midpipe for the st205 work for the st20X? if aftermarket, which one did you go for? i found one made by OBX....but not sure of the actual size and quality; anyone have had experience with their midpipe? ![]() OBX midpipe and manifold combo 2.2L This post has been edited by chacha: Feb 17, 2011 - 11:35 AM |

I 2nd gen 3s swapped w/aftermarket 3" downpipe and I'm currently trying to fit an mr2 b-pipe to the downpipe. it looks like it'll be close if not reallly tight. I think you're best bet is to find some sort of flexible piping and take it to an exhaust shop so they can make you a custom B and mid pipe. from there you can probably bolt on anything of the right size soo long as you've measured out the dimensions ahead of time.

let me know if the mr2 b pipe works for you. post a pic of the tightness or not please.
yeah...that is my option...trying to figure out how to make it fit the 3" dp from berk tech....going to do a 3gen 3s swap soon...trying to find just the midpipe...obx offer with the manifold for teh 2.2l 5sfe...wonder if anyone has this that can figure if it'll reach the dp from berk. don't have spec on the obx midpipe neither...if it is a 3", i thought about buying it...we'll see. nobody makes a 3" bolt on midpipe for the 6th gen chassis.
the mr2 one will not fit without cutting it up and rewelding it. the big hurdle is the fact that nobody makes a 3" catback either...so there is no one bpipe that can be made to fit everyones cars. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

manny, i was very afraid you say that...guess i have no choice but to go custom!
in that case, what type of metals should be recommended for the job of the 3s powered engine? or a place to buy the material? |

nope, manny just said anything from a st205 or st185 doesn't flow...it's because of the awd mid axle...different from underneath...
im gonna ask if berk can make one...if so, ill buy and post it on here. guess custom is the only way; like manny said, "there is no one bpipe that can be made to fit everyones cars." maybe that just means...for specific hatch only for the "GT" model...if made one for it...it will ONLY fit for the hatch gt version, so-forth with the hatch ST, or convert ST or GT, GT4 st205...etc but the OBX mid pipe does seem like good quality for the gt 5sfe, but for those like me who will have a 3s swap probably won't be feasible with the dp This post has been edited by chacha: Feb 18, 2011 - 12:37 AM |

the OBX midpipe is too small for the 3s.
there is no bpipe to fit everyones cars (gt/st dont matter) because there is no one exhaust that everyone uses. what needs to be done is someone needs to come up with a complete solution, from the end of the downpipe, to the tailpipe. problem with that is, if it aint under 200$ you guys all complain and whine that a SS autocrap one is fine and they all work, #1, and #2, there isnt enough market to make them. this is what you guys get for buying those junk chinese brands all these years. for me to build a bpipe, from the bottom of the downpipe, to the stock cat back location, is over 100$ in materials (in stainless) and a few hrs in labor. a complete exhaust would be somewhere ~4-500+ depending on muffler and whatnot. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

pm me a price....just looking for the midpipe really with the qtp outlet like batman.
3in from the dp to the cat. 4-500 is what i paid for the greddy sp2 cat-back...let me know if u can do a 3in piping from dp to exhaust SS all the way. This post has been edited by chacha: Feb 18, 2011 - 12:19 PM |

I like many other 3s swappers have found the predicament that once we have the downpipe the rest of the exhaust is ???? there isn't anything that we can use so I would happily buy a b-pipe section and potentially much more, if not a whole exhaust. I would want at least a b-pipe to make it to a local shop without having to tow it. I think everyone could find common interest in that or...
A) 2.5" or 3" b-pipe (w/ or w/out flex section), B) mid-section? (test pipe) or cat section? or cutout? (using 2/3bolt flanges) C) back box, or "cat-back" section over/under axle? (including muffler) -A & B should be pretty similar regardless of ST/GT if its a 3s swap, no? C could be different though. takers? interest? Can't say I have the skills but i'd be more than happy to help find any dimensions and shove out the $ to help. (because all i've got now is an mr2 Apexi-N1 b-pipe and muffler -bought together hoping the b-pipe might fit, muffler certainly won't-) -------------------- proud =3sgte SWAPPED= '95 Celica ST owner [calling it the GT2 or half-trac]

i have the sp2 greddy cat-back including exhaust, but it is only 2.5"...it starts from the second cat on the bottom of the chassis.
if he has a 94 gt hatch...im sure the measurements should be the same...if you're doing it...i might as well do the whole system. from dp to the second cat....(midpipe with cutout qtp) and from the second cat...to the end i guess...ill provide the exhaust of course. |

what style of flange does the SP2 use? i assume a 2 bolt flange to bolt to the stock setup?
i could probably start with somthing like that. we'll see here in a few weeks. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

let me check...heck it is pouring rain outside...ill try to get a picture. do you think it is possible to cut the sp2 cat back piping off and just use the resonator and exhaust only then re-weld the 3" SS on it?
*yeap...just a 2 bolt flange; i remember replacing the exhaust gasket...only 3 bolt for the top-end part of the midpipe meeting the dp This post has been edited by chacha: Feb 18, 2011 - 5:24 PM |

Hey Manny if you happen to snap a picture of the one you're making for cameron (ted95) I might be interested in something just like what you're doing for him. I feel like once you're past that front section you can piece together part of the middle (cut outs, resonators, mufflers, flex sections, cats, etc...) say, 3feet of it and then the last section is the only other part that would need to be done 'professionally'. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong or let me know how things work out if you end up doing a 3sgte b-pipe. We could be breaking some pretty big ground here fellas

just a thing, Greddy SP2 piping is 2.25 not 2.5 ewww. that will be a big restriction running into that. it's probably be pretty quiet tho! lol for guys with a cutout, it'd be fine, but i wouldnt run higher boost with that much restriction putting back pressure on the ceramic exhaust wheel. i know on dustins car, when the cutout is closed, he looses almost 150whp going from low boost with it closed (he made 177whp @ 12psi with the cutout closed) to 300+whp @ 18psi with the cutout open. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Any update as to if a front section would be possible? I am needing an exhaust pretty soon here and looking for a solution to possibly avoid going Full Custom.
