First I want to thank the 6G gods for providing this thread as it makes me feel special and also makes me feel good to show what ive done to my car haha =p

Well being that I am very excited to have my car finally I am very happy to be able to start a thread, although this build will be slow due to school bills and such but I am doing my best trying to get parts here and there when I can.

To start I got the car for $750USD; it needed an alternator and tune up so that took some money away from some things I wanted to get off the bat. So far I have mainly done visual modifications and performance in between =)

Things I plan to do:
-fix rust
-re paint
-new wheels 15" GT
-tint windows
-led gauges
-new muffler
-new head unit with speakers
-replace hoses. lines, and parts as needed
-lower (maybe)
-rebuild+turbo

More to come =)

It's obvious that the previous owner hated cleaning!
Well done. I'm going to clean the interior of my celi too, as I have most of the interior parts dismantled now because of another project wink.gif
I'd recommend to impregnate the plastic parts of the interior. They will shine like new. I use cockpit spray from Turtle for this purpose.

just paint it all like i did tongue.gif

No but armorall will clean it up nice for a bit.
I cant tell from the pics, but if there are a bunch of scratches in the plastic parts of the interior, the best way to get rid of them is just to paint them. pretty easy, and you can even repaint black if you wanted.

that paint in the valve cover is great stuff, i have seen one technique on utube that u can spray water on ur piece whit a little sprayer, and let the little drip of water dry up completely , so its make real water drip in your paint

after I placed the white down I got the blue, made a few test sprays then I lightly pushed on the top to make the spatter marks. It's almost like when you run out of paint and it just stutters

I could; the instructions were good but it was a bit odd for the us spec for a few small things. The gauge cluster was easy and the instructions were spot on. The clock was a bit odd, I also feel like my method would be a little odd for the hvac leds as once you installed them into their holsters the led itself was too wide for the opening so I had to feed the leds from the reverse side then install the led's into the holsters. but they came out great, I should also be fixing the clock tomorrow morning. This kit is still a great buy and well worth the money, I would recommend this to anyone and spree has the best customer service I have ever encountered =D

Heeeey, that doesn't look half bad! I can't wait to install my kit.

Its not high on the priority list right now, but I will get to it when I'm working on the interior again. smile.gif

On a side note; for the USDM HVAC - how hard was it to pull the unit out to work on?

It was a bit of a pain but spree also included an update for the us spec hvac unit, you have to unhook two cables to give the unit slack so you can get to all the screws.

So do I pull the cable all the way through the firewall? Or just enough to get the unit out...?

I read the instructions, didn't make sense, but I'm sure it will when I start doing it. smile.gif

Just enough to get the unit out, after you have the slack unscrew the middle dial as its held inplace by two screws in the back. You then take the unit out via the clips on the side. After that undo all the screws so that you may gte to the board in the back, from there hook up the leds but you will have to be careful getting them in as the leds are a pinch wider than the bulbs. What I did was put the leds through sideways and all was well.

Not much done but got some seat covers as my driver seat was torn on the outside and fluffy goodness was falling out a lot; not bad for $16

I also got the wrinkles out, had to attach the straps on the bottom=P

Well some neat info I have found over some time. I use to use Q full synthetic with Fram high mileage oil filters on my last celica. I had noticed that even though I would change the oil every 2,000-2,500, the oil would be pitch black and thick. It puzzled me but then I just thought it must be very dirty inside.
Fast forward to my current Celica and I did the same thing; use Q full synthetic and Fram oil filter. Needles to say the oil change was very dark and sludgy but it was to be expected being this was the first oil change since I got the car. So the second change came and the same thing; went online and there was a thread open in which a member asked what oil and filter to you use. After much discussion i found that mobile1 oil filters were really good, so theres one change. Next was oil, I was looking around the car and came across a sticker that had fallen that said Valvoline. I asked the previous owner what oil he used for each change and he stated he used Valvoline for every one.
After all of this new information I changed to Valvoline 10W30 full Synthetic and Mobile1 M1-103 oil filters. Since this change I have noticed my oil becoming lighter in color and having a lower viscosity. I have changed my oil 4 times yet I noticed this change on the first use. I have to say that I am very please with my change/choice and have noticed a smoother engine and improved mpg because of it.

An even better filter is the Bosch Distance Pluss. It has 99.9% efficiency, the highest capacity of any filter on the market and the highest burst protection. Advance Auto Parts has a synthetic deal with Castrol Edge and a Bosch Distance Plus filter for $28.99.

M1 filters aren't too bad though. 97% efficiency and high burst protection.

So got a chance to get the new/used muffler on the celi. I noticed a tiny lose in low end but high end has improved a lot. I can feel a difference; I had no idea how restrictive the stock muffler was. I'm very happy with the Ractive muffler, it looks good, and sounds very deep; sub WRX like. I would recommend this muffler to anyone

Out with the old

In with new

And shes on!

And just a random pic of his Ducati

Nice. Try and upload a sound clip if you can. Did you stick with the stock piping? What's the muffler diameter in?

Yea they are invader skirts that he already cut as they use to be on his celi when it was red.

I would love to get rims but haven't come across any that I like in the right price range.

they arent custom? theyre the 6gc invader skirts lol.
Glad they ended up in good hands.
You may want to do something about the rust underneath though. Spray it with some rust resistant paint, or undercoating. Cause you wont see it now, but it will get worse, and obviously you dont want that lol
I got a spray can matched to my paint code before, and it was very close.

1 can did my front bumper, so it should do the sides too

Well my inspection is up next month so I have to redo the break lines and do some small welding on the exhaust. After that I'm not really sure, perhaps a head unit?

Try looking for some Scion TC rim's. They're 17" and roughly the same price range as the stock GT rims. It'll look nicer and they have the exact same offset as the GT's. They are just taller. Same 7" width as the GT's too. They're similar to Gen7 GTS rims.

Nice celi bro, you should look into some riser block that'd set it off. I have some on mine but they're currently off due to spoiler coming unbolted while going down my subdivision road. redface.gif so ill be expony it to the block. But off my car and back to yours haha. Tc wheels would look sweet, would you paint them or keep them the way they look if you get?

I never noticed a difference in with a heat shield on my old filter. It does keep the filter cleaner though.

If I was doing a swap I would go for the block as I think they give a much more aggressive look. If I did get the TC rims I would prob keep them the same tongue.gif

If I was smart I would have kept my stock box and made something like what rusty has but the shield seems to help but yes the main reason was to keep it cleaner biggrin.gif

thought I'd add a picture without adding a new post

I was thinking about modding my stock box. I may still do it, haven't decided yet. Isn't it true that the square, stock boxes, with K&N filters are actually better than an intake? That the pipe behind it is actually the only thing that catches air?

I can't give you an official answer but I feel that given our cars dont need so much air, as long as you get a straight pipe from the box to the intake and put in a "better" filter it will be best. I got my intake for free and I had just got my car so I wanted to put it on as soon as I had a chance.

Side note: I've got a few things coming in this month so progress will be slow till later this month =D

with most any N/A car it really doesnt matter the kind of intake or exhaust you have. i mean they sound and look alot cooler, but theres really only so much the engine can do on its own.but looks pretty sweet, keep us posted

So after reading calijeff's thread about fog lights, it got me into gear and I just ordered a set of yellow round halogen fogs...as well as a pair of pioneer speakers for the back. I will be posting picks when they come in and installed...so excited =)

they are small sized and so much in the center, i would rather put them more outside , like the gt4, but that have its own style, looking ok

I want to put them more outside but I need longer screws because there are screws on the bumper that are in the way

I wasnt sure where I wanted to put the fog switch. It was by the pedals before and I was getting in one day and snapped the bracket holding it in place. So finally had some time and with some thought I figured I would hide the switch to keep the interior clean :-).

That square block where you drew a square (looks like you were thinking of putting it there) is where I put mine.
