So i replaced my efi relay the other day and finally got my car running and driving again, the engine was replaced in january, drove for about 2 weeks then it bogged and shut off in my garage out of nowhere.....it sat for about a month and a half, i replaced the EFI relay/ ignitor and it started right up. Ive driven it about 250 miles since then (last week) and it started acting up this morning, with more noticable missfire/bog and got reaaaaly noticable on the drive home for lunch. it will not rev very well and stops a little over 4K rpm.
I limped it home and switched ignitors but it ran the same so its just parked and my guess is that something is killing my EFI relay.. any help or insight on this would be appreciated UPDATE 4/28: Car had been running for a good while, VERY underpowered, but running after having replaced the ignitor and efi relay... this morning i did a quick errand and it was running but i felt it was happening again.... i got to the apartment, shut it off, went back an hour later to take my son to his grandparents and the car made it half a block before bogging itself out the more throttle i gave it. litterally, throttle/bog hold/coast throttle/bog die... I came to my dads to get the extra relay in hopes it will start.... but this seems to be a bandaid and the auto electric shop couldn't figure it out, but i noticed that aside from every fuse looking fine, EM2 contacts in main fuse box looks toasty. the fuse isn't blown but where u put it in looks burnt. on a third note, the clock is very dim, and doesn't retain the memory of time, the map lights dont work, if i turn them on it shuts off what ever is left of the clock. possibly related the stock radio harness does not supply power or ground but illumination curcuit is fine. any input is appreciated. Check your grounds, igniter ground, etc all the ground that relate to your motor, check them and if there isnt enough grounds add to places like head, block, maybe even intake manifold.

Sounds like really bad grounds..
Check all your connections for cleanliness, if your surface area is dirty, the connection is horrible. Take some sand paper to each connection and clean'em up. Try again. The way its intermitent makes it sound like its just a loose, or bad connection. This post has been edited by rave2n: Apr 28, 2011 - 4:06 PM |

i went out and tinkered with it, all the stock grounds are in place...
i noticed the reason my lights/clock and radio were not getting power in main fuse box looks like the guys at the shop removed whatever bridges power over to the first 3 fuses in the main box (ECU-B, Radio, Dome)....i put a 20A fuse in the (X) slot to jump power, didn't fit right but it worked. so i changed the ignitor and relay to another set and still no dice, last time it fired right up... i thought it flooded out so i opened up the throttle body and disconnected the battery to vent it out....when i was doing this i noticed my Throttle position sensor plug was poped out a bit...this might acually be the cause of the whole problem as i saw the clip is broken and it probably gets loose and makes bad connection.. |

throttle position sensor is fed directly to the ECU and it is only supplied 5v. If its not plugged in you would have crappy response. Have you checked the wiring on the stereo and cig lighter? It sounds like something is shorting out from there. 20A is quite a lot and Is that the correct fuse?
