Coilover List Compilation:
Many have not realized we have so many coilover models now, at the beginning we really only had the TRD and Tein SS for the most Part and lowering springs were "IT" at the time. I've come to do a full update including the new models that have been released. In fact, some have not even tested these newer models. Lowering Springs are already pretty much covered in the parts list, if I get enough votes, I'll include them here. But for now, coilovers was my major focus here.

Here We Go!

i believe C-One also made some for the st204/st202, but rare as well and the st05; although they are out of business.

tanabes are still available for gt/st,

I can inform that this type http://www.bc-racing.co.uk/c-bcc26/toyota-...perstrut-94-99/ is the "welding " type. Where you need to use the old lower arm/suspension and weld the coilover onto it. See the photos for more info. Im not that good in explaning tongue.gif I also have a TUV paper on the Factory. but this dont help here in norway. Since you dont gett it approved for road use when you have welded it. frown.gif

Hope this info helps somone out there smile.gif ( im still looking for a TUV certify coilover that i can use, So shout if there is anyone out there that know's off any kind. )

Anyone have reviews on the D2 or Ksport CTY050 coilovers? How do they fair vs Tein/Tanabe?

Also, anyone know sites with good pricing on these guys?

Might want to take the C-one coilovers off, as C-one has gone bankrupt. Wont be seeing much of their products again.

Sorry - I was quoting the original poster (OP); didn't see your post.

The Type I comes with the "Helper Springs" - and their main purpose is a softer ride quality (or so I've read, not actually field tested by myself yet...)

BC Coilovers for the ST202 McPherson Suspension Celica's

how do the quality of these compare to Megan's and Tein's??? Spring rates for bc's are 6kg front and 4 kg rear.

It is said that BC Coilovers make the Megans so I would assume it is equal or near quality to them. Most IS owners pick between BC and Megans. To me I have no complaints about the megans, smooth ride, great adjustability, good price. Best thing to do is get reviews from folks from other forums that have them.

I believe Tanabe only makes the Type 2 without the helper springs, but that's not the point. The point is that tanabe's do no come with adjustable dampening. you can only give the coilover lower ride height.

Also from what other members have been saying that the Blitz have the same specs as the megan's and bc coilovers. Only difference that I know of so far is that its more of a street friendly coilover with the front spring rate 6kg and rear 4kg is much softer than the megan's!!

Another thing is that any of the coilovers listed for the celica allow for rebound. Rebound adjustment on coilovers are made for the race track. All the coilovers made for our car now are mainly street coilovers. So If anybody knows of a coilover made for our car that allows you to separately adjust compression and rebound let us know. That wouldn't be as much use to anyone unless they use their celica on the track a lot where both dampening adjustments would count the most.

Another important note is that Megan, BC Coilover, K Sport and possibly along with Blitz. all are fully threaded coilovers. Fully threaded coilovers allow you to adjust the height of the coilover from the bottom of the coilover so that you do not affect stroke travel. All other coilovers are partially threaded and if when you start to lower the coilover it will shorten the travel of the shock, thus possibly allowing for bottoming out of the coilover.

here are some jic magic coilovers on nengun auctions. Not sure if they are rebuildable or not, but I'd pick these up and rebuild them over tein's super street coilover. I believe the spring rates are the same as the tein's but not really sure...

Initially our cars really had only the Tein Basics Coilovers to choose from aside from lowering springs. Here is the updated list as follows.

Known ones:
TEIN SUPER STREET- GT and ST

ST204, ST202(excluding Superstrut models) and AT200 are all the same chassis, just different codes for different countries.

For the GT four, any of the coilovers, I believe have to be cut and welded, unless you're buying Coilovers for the Superstrut Suspension.
I believe Tien and TRD (Correct me if Im wrong) are the only companies that make Coilovers designed for superstrut, and are A) expensive as hell, and B) Very hard to find.

If you're planning to run the Coilovers on your Gt or ST (as listed in your profile) that is running regular Macpherson style struts, then you won't need to do any welding, simply bolt in.

Cool,The KYBs and Tien springs keep bouncing like crazy when I drive through the city. Especially on the real passenger side.
I'm looking for a smoother ride. I want it like my old Celica when the ex-first drove it home from the dealer. I miss her; The car that is... biggrin.gif

I'm planning on getting some coilovers in the near future. Would I have to do any modifications if I was to install these onto my 1997 Toyota Celica GT? I am running stock suspension besides the AG lowering springs.
