Well its been six years and i'm finally going to hook up my car. Iv'e decided to go with the engine change, well after my engine gasket blew up after i allowed the engine to over heat ...crazy kicking myself for that lol. but hey better things are coming real soon. I'm opting to have the car ready to start June 2 2011, with money to drop the engine and paint the car all at once. Few decisions to make to start;
1: Do i drop the 3sgte or just turbo the 5sfe 2: If i do the swap do I wire it myself or send it out , I mean trust me i can do it if I had the right drawings 3: I'm wishing there is a Auto tranny that could take the power of a turbocharged engine....... so do i just put in a manual 4: Should I drop the engine in myself???? Question questions questions............. Well i'm going to start by posting pics of the ride from start to finish So what you guy's think? post all you want help me out. please This post has been edited by timdog1720: Aug 15, 2011 - 5:52 PM -------------------- Always fast and going for the look......

Screw the time, just do it right. No offense, but if you're asking whether to swap the engine yourself or have it done, it's probably best for you to send out the harness. Tweak is popular here for wiring. In the meantime, read up and do your research and then you'll arrive at a point where you'll be able to do the swap yourself once the harness comes back and you've gathered all the necessary parts.
Best of luck. ![]() This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Apr 18, 2011 - 11:59 AM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

if you dont want to do a manual swap and you want an automatic keep it.. auto trans are stronger then most people think. i was just in a 3 week auto trans clas and we took a chrysler minivan trans and put 350hp through it, on our dyno. had no problems. the weekest part of an auto trans is the driver its self. gl with the project!

yea i know hes the best but its not worth 700 to send out when i can do it myself pretty good with electricity going to school for mechanical engineering I personally work with high voltage on a daily basis, as well extensive control panel, and logic serial wiring. A few certifications to boot as well. But, those are things I specialize in. I do not specialize in Auto wiring. With that being said, I feel 500-700 for a harness conversion, is well worth the cost being if you wire incorrectly. Bye bye all that money spent on that engine. Think of it as insurance. IF you convert the harness, and do it sucessfully with no damage to exsisting parts...props to you. Good luck with your swap, looks like you have a good platform to start on. |

if you don't mind me asking. How did you manage to pay for that carbon c-one bonnet? Those things cost $1,400 brand new.
btw good stuff so far. Paint on Valve Cover looks good but on the other parts, meh not something I'd prefer. This post has been edited by BonzaiCelica: Jul 28, 2011 - 2:57 AM -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

well car is running pretty cool pretty fast but have this massive MPG problem lol like 2 to 5 miles to the gallon ... It was suggested to me the o2 sensor is more than liely bad and the fact i had nothing grounding on the engine ie... alternator bracket, transmission, and battery lol. but I've done all that however when I went to do the o2 sensor i purchesed the speacial o2 nut remover and yo lol the dam sensor ripped all the thread off the cat-dump pipe.
Soooooo I now have the buy a new downpipe for the 4th gen 3sgte witch is 189 dollars cause yes the bolt pattern is diffrent and oh yea a new o2 sensor Another Day in the 6GC world OH yea thanks to Culpable04 and cuz lol, Fate, spy00005 you guys were really helpful and fun This post has been edited by timdog1720: Oct 19, 2011 - 7:38 PM -------------------- Always fast and going for the look......
