OK I remebered somebody saying that we need a sticker for the site that we can put on our cars. Well I have an Idea. Ok it would be an outline of our cars with 6GC.net inside it. I know that I have seen an outline of our cars some where on the internet. So if anybody has one or knows where to get it let me know and I will see about making one to show everybody. But for now you all will just have to use your imaginations. On the size of it, it would be as long as the Celica.net sticker so that we could put it over it or next to it.

What angle was the car at when the outline was made? I could probably make an outline pretty easily, and then put some sort of 6GC logo inside of it.

OK sorry I ment a side profile of the car so that it could be made into the outline of the car with 6gc.net in the center. Coomer if you can make it I would be greatly apreciated.

Something like that might be hot, maybe just at a little less of a back angle. That way the sticker still isn't taking up a lot of room like that would. And a little sharper than picture, it's definitely lacking.

If someone can post a good photo of a side profile of a hatchback, I'll see what I can do.

Doggy that what I had in mind. Maybe put the stock spoiler on it and I could see what could be made from it. It would just be the outline of the car with 6GC.net in the center of it. So really what it would be is just the outline of the car with the name in the center just like the Celica.net sticker.

doGGy...

those are pretty sweet. best i've seen yet!

EDIT: i was just got a sweet idea from doGGy's signature... what if we used his 6G celica logo for a sticker? that'd be pretty sweet i think...it'd be really easy to add a ".net" in there. what do u guys think?

user posted image

doggy, do u think you could just post that part of your sig up on the board and maybe take out the celica and add a "C.net" after the G? let me know..

Hey DoGGy I think your designs look really great... But just one suggestion.

If you are only going to produce one final design you will have to think about putting borders around the text. Like if you are using red and black as your two main colours then think about what it will look like on a red or black ride. Cos you might end up with just 6G.

I think No.1 looks great. But you would have to border the 6 with white and the C with black/white and white around the .net so you can stick it on any ride. Make sense??

The concept is great. I would throw No.1 on my ride as is, wouldn't give me any probs with my paint colour

Great work guys. biggrin.gif

For example: 6 is bordered in white, G can be bordered in black or white, and C.net (red in 1 examp) can be bordered in white to. And i think it will look good on black or red or yellow paint.

yeh I'm not fond of big **** off stickers either.
Itch B or anyone else thats designing stickers:

I think that you will have to have the stickers made it 2 opposite colours. Like Black and white or Blue and Red, in order to accomodate everyone's car. I don't think that Black Celica owners would want to put a black sticker on their car and vice versa but I guess thats further on down the track when 6gc.net actually decides on which one we want.

Does anyone have the actual dimensions of their sticker ideas?

as for 6gc.net version it looked stupid... sorry but it did, this version is alot better lookin.

also besides neone that knows about Celica's and this board isn't gonna have a clue what 6gc.net stands for... at least this way they can figure it out.
and if you type in sixth gen celica net into a search engine... guess what comes up?

I personally like it alot better than ne of the other styles but thats just my opinion and its not cuz I made it just cuz it actually has a little style to it.

I just figured the whole point of the sticker was for people to check out this site right? so if they plug in sixthgencelica.net it won't take them anywhere. maybe we could register that domain and redirect it here, cuz I agree with you 6GC.NET in graff would look weak.

I agree with the fact that that sticker looks sweet, but registering another domain and pointing it here would actually hurt the site's traffic, because of the way that Google and many other search engines work. It would reduce this site's pagerank, pointing less people to 6G Celicas and hindering the amount of people finding this site and registering and helping out. That would be a sweet sticker though. smile.gif

might as well have a sticker that just says "Sixth Gen Celica" instead of using a non-existent domain. and maybe Coomer could put those keywords in the meta-tags incase someone actually goes through the trouble of searching for it. wink.gif

That would be cool but the only prob with it is that it kinda defeats the purpose of a site sticker...... we'll figure something out

Actually, registering another domain will not reduce traffic. As a matter of fact, it might be even better having more options for people to hit this site instead of 6gc.net. If you're really serious about this site, then I would recommend registering more domains that point to this. Search engines don't care about the domain name. Search engines will *spider* a site looking for keywords to index. This is why it's important to have meta tags, meta descriptions, etc. Search engine indexes are primarily based off of META words.

If you really want to increase traffic, I would also recommend registering 6gc.com. Most people will use "com" instead of "net". Other domains that you can register are

6thgencelica.com/net
sixthgencelica.com/net
sixgencelica.com/net

(These are all unregistered by the way. I just did a *whois* on all 6 as well as 6gc.com)

Don't spread yourself too thin. It really wouldn't hurt to register more domains and simply have them *redirect* or *point* to 6gc.net. This will give people more ways of finding the site. Since domains are cheap to register nowadays ($8 at godaddy.com), maybe you can start taking donations to help register the other domains. That's only $48 to register 6 domains. You web hosting company may also charge a small fee to alias the domains to 6gc.net, but if you don't want to pay for that, I'm sure the registrar will allow you to redirect the domains to 6gc.net (15 dollar domains allows this).

One last thing, if you want to improve placement, the only real way of doing that, as opposed to waiting months to be reindexed to the top, is to pay. I know that most people don't want to pay $50+ just to be placed at the top, but it's the most reliable way of getting there.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I forgot to post my concepts. I was having a hard time because I usually design text that's to be displayed on websites and hard documents. Designing text for stickers is rather difficult because of various limitations. For example, vinyl stickers can't be printed with a gradient or a glowing fade in the background, unless we're talking about bumper-style stickers.

Anyway, sorry for the rushed jobs. I promised Brian (CelicaBest) that I would try to come up with something if I had time. Well I didn't really have much time, which I why I sorta rushed these. If you don't like them, oh well. What I wanted to primarily do was create something that will help the other designers come up with something *better*. I saw some really nice work. Keep up the good job guys.

Maybe if I have some more time, I can actually sit down and take some time to come up with something.

sorry dude, I didn't mean to come off harsh like that

I just figured the whole point of the sticker was for people to check out this site right? so if they plug in sixthgencelica.net it won't take them anywhere. maybe we could register that domain and redirect it here, cuz I agree with you 6GC.NET in graff would look weak.

I agree with the fact that that sticker looks sweet, but registering another domain and pointing it here would actually hurt the site's traffic, because of the way that Google and many other search engines work. It would reduce this site's pagerank, pointing less people to 6G Celicas and hindering the amount of people finding this site and registering and helping out. That would be a sweet sticker though. smile.gif

Actually, I've heard contrary to what you're saying from many people, mainly on SitePointForums.com and AListApart.com and a couple other development sites.

If you're familiar with Google's pagerank method, you know that it takes into account the number of links pointing to your website. With one url, I know that all links to my website are going to point to that given url. If I had two urls, then half might point to one url while the other half might point to the other url, meaning that Google would only see half the number of links pointing to my site than there actually are. This would decrease pagerank, which means my page would be less likely to come up when people do searches on Google, or any other companies that use Google's engine, such as Yahoo. I know Google's engine isn't based purely on the number of links to your site, but it's one of the leading factors in determining pagerank.

That's the primary reason why I haven't already registered more domains. I know my host wouldn't charge a thing to point more domains to the site(I love my hosting right now - Globalcon), and domains are really cheap, but I believe that it would actually decrease traffic or at least not bring in as many new visitors.

If you can find some literature or articles to back up your ideas, please send them my way and I'll read them and maybe re-decide my position on having multiple domains for the same site.

Here's a couple threads about this:

http://www.sitepointforums.com/showthread....60&referrerid=0

Edit: By the way, welcome to the 6G Celicas forums! biggrin.gif I really like your first idea for a sticker, and I came across the same problems that you did, because I'm used to designing all of my graphics for the web as well. wink.gif

Coomer, no offense man but I don't think links are doing anything to your page rank right now. I pulled the link: command on Google and no matches at all. Maybe if the 6th Gen Celica segment was more competitive, but honestly I think you are about the only game in town at this point.

the top one in ur post celicabest...is hot! I like it and want it on the side of my car. I wish my Dad still worked at the bus company...he could print vinyl decals for free anytime fo the day he wanted. This sucks! Frickin people with high turnover rates...I tell ya...:-D

Capn: If he creates a blakc and white one with clear lines of where u cut...such as the one that was just plain black and white....that's a good idea.

When you make vinyl graphics either you have one color and it cuts them....or you put in clear vinyl through and you have a laserjet printer that colors the design and cuts out the design at the same time. The second is a lot more costly...looks cooler to many people but is much more exspensive. That's why you see the one piece decals you can buy online that are fullside cost so much...The vinyl costs around 80 dollars for a 50 foot roll and the vinyl machine itself costs at least 2,000 for a quality one that isn't blurry when it prints/cuts.

One the other hand, a single colored decal isn't that abd at all. I have the toyotacelicas.com decal on my car...it is a monotone gray and looks pretty awesome. You can buy these lasercut vinyl machines....that just cut out the designs...for around 350-800 dollars. If you offered say 8 different colors of the same graphic....it wouldn't be that exspensive.

ToyotaCelicas.com actually offers their decals for 3 bucks a piece...unless you buy two and then u get two for 5 dollars. Coomer should maybe ask that webmaster how he does his for such little money and investigate.

Again, for cost effectiveness, monotone decals would be the best choice. If you want to get into 20-30 per decal then you can go with different colored one peice decals.
