Brand new Celica owner, have a few quick questions..

1. I bought the car for less than 3k. previous owner dropped a 2.0 block in it from a 2000 Camry(sad right?) what is going to be my price range of getting a 2.2(or better) back in it?

2. are engine swaps really as awful as I've heard on these things?

3. whats a good sounding(not ricer) exhaust for these babies?

I owned a 87 Porsche 944 before this, and have thought this'll be alittle easier to work on.
I'm hoping thats accurate.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Just the block?Or the whole engine? For a full 5sfe swap, less than 600$ as long as you have everything besides the block left from the old 5s.

2. are engine swaps really as awful as I've heard on these things? What have you heard? They arent very bad, there are quite a few to choose from

3. whats a good sounding(not ricer) exhaust for these babies? The sp2s are nice, but rare as hell. Most of us non boosted run 2 or 2.25" custom systems built by an exhaust shop

Thanks for the help in advance!

Wow you were quick man! thanks.

And I wanted to swap the whole engine. and have a friend who has a shop and everything I'd need to do so.

I've heard they're a pain in the butt! from a few different people, online and off.

I was assuming it'd be a 2.25, but I wasn't assuming it'd be custom?

Another guy from DFW. Did you happen to find that Celica off CL, looks kind of familiar.

Even for a full 5sfe swap, with a new s54 tranny should only run around 800$, unless you find a deal then it would be even cheap. Engine swaps for guys with STs are a pain because they have to change the tranny, motor mounts and a bunch of other things to GT. But for GTs its almost just plug and play.

Don't bother. It's a colossal waste of money.

Not at all. Somebody was fibbing when they told you that.

Not my area of expertise but I've always heard that you can't go wrong with the Greddy SP2 or any of the Magnaflow mufflers.

if you put a 5s-fe in it(2.2liter) i would go with 2 or 2 1/4... 2 1/2 gets loud and imo makes the car week at low speeds. im currently running 2 1/4 and it seams the fastest of the 3 or 4 setups i had.
